Some things worth noting:

Actions

This CYOA is structured primarily like a text adventure game, and there will never be preset options to select from. However, while any action is technically acceptable as input, impossible actions will simply fail, which includes most things that are patently absurd. I'm not attempting to discourage experimentation, but repeatedly making poor moves will likely produce adverse effects.

For now, I'll execute whatever gets posted first, but will change to a more structured voting system as time goes on.


Difficulty

This isn't an easy game. While it isn't guaranteed, there is an extremely high chance that you will die, especially as time in the story progresses. Although the difficulty is high, this CYOA does implement an auto-save feature, that is so advanced that it will never reload you into a position where you are guaranteed to die. There is no manual save option, though, so you may end up in a difficult situation. For this reason, it would be wise to make decisions with care.

To the North, you can see the park stretch on into a series of nature trails. Looks like it might be fun to walk around in. To the East, there's a main street, across which is a number of buildings. Looks like a moderate-sized community college. To the South, is another main street, across which appears to be part of a city, the street lined with a row of stores. To the West, is a section of forest, which you are right at the edge of on the field.

You decide to run for the community college. Although your skill at running does not appear to be particularly astounding, you're able to outpace the rather bulky man from the liquor store. The crowded city streets offer you an opportunity to slip away from him and gain some distance, but a steady trail of blood drips from your left hand as you run, meaning that he'll probably be back for you sooner or later.

Panting very slightly, you reach the community college several minutes later. Giving the general area a brief glance, you see several buildings of note here:

There are numerous people walking around on on the campus. You figure someone must know where you can get some medical attention for your arm, which you suddenly decide is a pressing concern. You motion to the nearest person walking around to get his attention.

"Hey...er...you. Person walking around on this campus. My hand needs medical attention. Where is the nurse?"

You cringe slightly, as you remember that your ability at Diplomacy is incredibly poor, but the student seems to be somehow awed by you. It must be your incredible Charm.

"The nurse's office is in the Rec Center. It's the building on the northwest edge of the campus, near the forest."

"Excellent. Thank you Random Campus Person. I must be going now."

As you walk away from the encounter, you experience a strange tingling sensation that runs through your entire body. This campus...it's vaguely familiar to you. These buildings, these shrubberies, this modern art...you've seen it all before. It isn't your memory returning, though...it's something more. A Shivering of Recognition.

You suddenly remember that this is one of your powers. How could you have forgotten?!

Sooner or later, you're going to need to do something about your hand. Might as well make it sooner.

Taking the advice of the student you spoke to, you head to the north end of campus. The Rec Center is a large, circular, two-story building, and is situated right at the very edge of the forest, without even a fence to designate where the campus ends and the wilderness begins.

Going inside, you consult a map posted just inside the building, but as you being walking toward where the Nurse's Office should be located, a debilitating sensation spreads through your body, and you almost collapse. Inside this building, you sense two Ominous Forebodings, one from the Past, and one for the Near Future. Something terrible happened here some time not that long ago, and something is likely to happen again very soon.

These revelations damage your Mental Stability somewhat, but the moment passes, and you regather your wits and continue toward your destination.

Reaching the Nurse's Office on the second floor, you knock once even though the door is slightly ajar, and a warm female voice answers, "Come in."

Stepping into the room, you can see that it is mostly furnished in white, with a number of small cabinets above and below the a counter with a faucet and sink. There is an examination cot sitting against the far wall. The Campus Nurse is sitting in a chair near the counter, and immediately spots your injury, since you have blood all over most of your left hand and sleeve, now.

"That's...how exactly did you manage to do that to your hand?"

This isn't that much of a stretch. You have no idea who you are, so that's as likely to be true as anything else. At least that's what you tell yourself.

"Uhhhh-huh..." She sighs. "Well, you're going to need that hand bandaged up one way or another. Take a seat, and I'll see what I can do."

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!" you exclaim in a cheery tone, as you sit down on the cot.

The nurse works quickly, and cleans, sterilizes, and bandages the gaping stab wound on the top of your hand in the span of about ten minutes.

"There. That should do. Now, you'd best stay away from anything likely to give you any more trouble with your 'Stigmata.'"

You offer her a serene, if slightly crazed, smile. "Peace be with you, lady."

Before you leave the Nurse's Office, you notice a mirror, and decide to get a good look at yourself, since your only lead to your identity so far is that you may or may not be Christ.

You're a young man with short black hair and above-average features. Your look to be somewhere in the vicinity of sixteen to twenty years old. You are fully clothed. You are wearing a dark green long-sleeve buttoned dress shirt, which appears to be of a very nice make, except the left sleeve now has black bloodstains all over it. You are also wearing a pair of blue jeans, and you have your trusty Fencing Saber sheathed in your scabbard, hanging from a belt around your waist. You are wearing a pair of white socks and black tennis shoes on your feet.

You are also still holding that bottle of Jägermeister.

You walk down the hallway until you find a table, then smash the bottle against the side of the table. The force of the impact is so strong that the table flips over and collides with your head, knocking you backward.

You will not be deterred, though. Now you have your finely-tuned surgical implement. It's time to begin the operation.



Raising the jagged remains of the bottle in a dramatic manner, you start to make the initial incision. Though the pain is incredible, it seems that you have outstanding Focus, allowing you to continue operating long past the point an ordinary person would have passed out. Gradually, your awareness begins to fade, even though you haven't even started to rearrange your internal organs. You're not sure what you did wrong, but it seems like there isn't any time left to figure it out...

Maybe you should explore more of the campus, for the time being. As you walk down the hallway toward the stairs to the second floor, though, you're surprised to hear screaming coming from the lobby below.

Stepping into the main chamber, you are startled to see everyone being attacked by zombies. Although it's hard to tell the difference, at times. The zombies are dressed exactly like the students, except for the part where they're assaulting all of the students and biting off pieces of their bodies. This is probably the event connected to that Ominous Foreboding you sensed in the Near Future.

As you stare from the top of the stairs, four zombies turn away from the mangled corpse of a young woman and focus their attention on you.

You smash the Bottle of Jägermeister on the hand railing along the side of the stairs, spilling the remaining liquid. These zombies don't even know what they're getting into. Since you haven't remembered how skilled you are at any kind of combat yet, neither do you for that matter, but they don't know that.

You brandish the jagged remains of the bottle like a sword, holding it before you as a warning to anyone foolish enough to try taking you on, while you instinctively adjust your left hand into a properly-balanced fighting stance.

The zombies emit something between a moan and a growl, much more impressed by you taking a swig of Jäger than by your fighting stance. They charge up the steps at you, moving much more quickly than conventional horror movies and video games would lead you to believe they are capable.

Remembering that you actually have another weapon on you that is actually designed for being a weapon, you shift the Bottle of Jägermeister over to your left hand, and draw your Fencing Saber with your right just as the zombie in front reaches you.

He lunges forward in a clumsy grab, but you dodge effortlessly backward up the steps, then lunge forward and cleave his body in two through his waist. As it turns out, you are not only damn good at using your Fencing Saber, and are also incomprehensibly strong.

The remaining three zombies rush you at the same time, but you've got this covered. Using your Bottle of Jägermeister like a malformed and poorly-balanced parrying dagger, you intercept the second zombie mid-leap, and throw her over the side of the stair by impaling her through her torso, and toss her over the side of the stairs to your left while you bisect the third incoming zombie. The fourth appears to experience a moment of hesitation, then begins to retreat down the steps in search of easier prey.

No. You're not letting those bastards off that easily. You run down the steps and slice the fleeing zombie in two. Looking around, you can see that you now have attention of several dozen other zombies in the room. Perfect.

You slice apart the first several zombies as they step into your range, but realize that your movement options will become limited while surrounded in the middle of the large room. You rush forward and attempt to break through the ring of zombies now surrounding you, but several manage to scratch at you before you can slice off the offending limbs, drawing a bit of your blood. The wounds are nothing serious, though, and with your back to the wall, you're in a much better position to deal with these pesky undead.

Several more move in to try and take you down as a group, but you easily push them back with your Fencing Saber/Broken Bottle fighting style. Soon, you've slaughtered enough of the zombies that both you and your remaining opponents are stumbling over the stray bodies and hacked-off limbs to the point that it's difficult to fight.

You've significantly thinned their ranks by now, so you prepare yourself to break through once again and find a new position to hold, when you hear a deep bellowing wail in the distance, and all of the zombies pause. That pause lasts for perhaps one second before they disperse in what you can only interpret as an organized retreat. Did you...win?

You contemplate pursuing them yet again for a moment, when a loud crashing noise comes from the front entrance of the building. Turning to see what the trouble is, a massive zombie hulk stands there, glaring at you as you stand there amongst its fallen brethren. This seems like a great opportunity.

"Oh, hey! Do you know where I could find a KFC?"

The Zombie Hulk emits a gurgling growl. That's probably a "No."

It's like everyone you run into feels a need to act so uncivilized. "No, I said chickenz!"

You dust yourself off of the bits of dust and debris clinging to you, and run back toward the building. Rather than leap through the hole in the wall your body just made, you instead crash back into the main lobby of the Rec Center through the nearest window, rolling to your feet out of the jump.

The Hulk turns and makes a noise of confusion, then spots you, and states quite clearly, "BLEEEARRRROAORRGHHHRR!!!!"

Well, enough of this. It was fun, but you have more important things to do, like get these wounds taken care of, and figure out what the hell is up with all these zombies running around. You turn around and begin walking toward the gaping hole in the wall where the Zombie Hulk burst into the Rec Center.

But the Zombie Hulk seems to think that it is the important thing you should have on your mind right now. You don't even make it halfway to the exit when you feel a massive force collide with your back, in unison with a sharp cracking sound.



Although your vision is blurry, you still retain consciousness as your body hits the ground outside. You can no longer move the lower half of your body, but at least you don't feel any more pain. Behind you, you can hear the Hulk advancing. With no way to fight back, you hope that it will end quickly.

You never feel the final blow. There is only darkness.

No. You're not letting those bastards off that easily. You run down the steps and slice the fleeing zombie in two. Looking around, you can see that you now have attention of several dozen other zombies in the room. Perfect.

You slice apart the first several zombies as they step into your range, but realize that your movement options will become limited while surrounded in the middle of the large room. You rush forward and attempt to break through the ring of zombies now surrounding you, but several manage to scratch at you before you can slice off the offending limbs, drawing a bit of your blood. The wounds are nothing serious, though, and with your back to the wall, you're in a much better position to deal with these pesky undead.

Several more move in to try and take you down as a group, but you easily push them back with your Fencing Saber/Broken Bottle fighting style. Soon, you've slaughtered enough of the zombies that both you and your remaining opponents are stumbling over the stray bodies and hacked-off limbs to the point that it's difficult to fight.

You've significantly thinned their ranks by now, so you prepare yourself to break through once again and find a new position to hold, when you hear a deep bellowing wail in the distance, and all of the zombies pause. That pause lasts for perhaps one second before they disperse in what you can only interpret as an organized retreat. Did you...win?

You contemplate pursuing them yet again for a moment, when a loud crashing noise comes from the front entrance of the building. Turning to see what the trouble is, a massive zombie hulk stands there, glaring at you as you stand there amongst its fallen brethren. This seems like a great opportunity.

"Oh, hey! Do you know where I could find a KFC?"

The Zombie Hulk emits a gurgling growl. That's probably a "No."

You take a deep breath and close your eyes, directing your focus inward for a moment. Distantly, you can hear the Hulk starting to charge toward you, but you intensify your concentration, blocking it out. Slowly, you exhale. You're ready now.

You snap open your eyes just in time to see the Hulk send a crushing punch in your direction. It's almost like the thing is moving in slow motion.

Performing a front flip over the arc of the punch, you land on the Hulk's arm and run up to its shoulder. It reaches out with its left arm to grab you, but you deliver a quick stab to both of its eyes and leap down behind its back, landing in a crouch.

The blinded Hulk begins to stumble, first forward, then backward towards where you're waiting, but you're more than ready for it. As it supports its weight on its left leg, you take several steps forward and make a clean slice straight through the giant's knee, severing the limb.

"BLEEEARRRROAORRGHHHRR!!!!"

The Zombie Hulk lets out a cry of anguish as you slip away from its collapsing form. Beneath its body, you can see a pool of yellow-green liquid pouring out from where its leg was severed, and check your Saber instinctively. It, too, is covered in the liquid, and appears to be corroding. The zombie's blood is most likely a potent acid.

You return to your fighting stance, as the Hulk begins to claw its way over to you using only its hands.
