"tick tock my ass"

Haha, there's a "He Hate Rock" sign in the crowd. Go XFL.

Kurt Angle vs. The Rock

We're getting some chants of "ROCKY" and some chants of "ANGLE SUCKS". Crowd's making their favorite clear.

Rock going for the side russian leg sweep. Otherwise, he's sticking with smacks and kicks. Angle's got some shots in, here's a drop toe hold into the ankle lock! Shades of Ken Shamrock!

Belly to belly suplex from Angle, he's always hitting those suplexes. Samoan drop from Rock, two count. Suplex from the top, Rock with another two count.

Rock's tossed out of the ring, he hurt his leg. Oh no getting set up for the ankle lock. But Rock gets a DDT.

Big Show's music? What's he doing here? He chokeslams the ref, he chokeslams Angle. He chokeslams Rock. Everyone boos him.

Oh my god check the ref selling that chokeslam on the replay. Tongue out and everything.

Angle is first to move and covers but Rock is up too. Rock grabs the belt and knocks out Angle. Hebner is here and Angle kicks out.

Ankle lock is on, I think Tazz just swore. Rock's not giving up though.

Rock is standing, he hits the spinebuster. Off comes the elbow pad, people's elbow. Two count and Angle kicks out.

Turnbuckle cover being pulled off by Angle. Rock wants a rock bottom but gets driven into the turnbuckle. Olympic slam! Rock kicks out of this somehow. They're both no-selling the hell out of each other's moves.

Rock with some smacks, Angle gets run into the turnbuckle. Rock bottom, and uhhh Hebner pulls his count short while Angle lays there. Rock gives another rock bottom and pins.

Angle cries tears of sadness.

Star of the PPV: HHH

Botch of the PPV:
I was gonna give it to the table that wouldn't stand up and then didn't break, but it's gotta go to Hebner pulling his count early while Angle lays flat on his back.

LADDER MATCH:

Angle's strategy backfires and Benoit's now the one beating the crap out of Angle until the irish whip changes the momentum.

A red ladder's being setup and isn't that ladder a little bit short? Well Angle falls down as Benoit pulls it from right under him. Benoit's climbing up and Angle jerks him off the ladder.

Suplex and Angle's going to use the ladder as a weapon. Benoit's ribs are gone. Angle is thrown over the top rope and Benoit has to go get himself a ladder. Angle gets hit in the gut and the jaw. Angle goes down low and Benoit's off the ladder.

Regal's hesitant to tell the bad news to Stone Cold. Lita is stretching and Eddie's also here. Stone Cold's fine with the match being a no holds barred match.

Video package about how dominant Chyna is and Lita believes she can challenge her.

WWF WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH:

Lita Vs. Chyna (c)

Geez what the crap is Chyna wearing, these are some revolting outfits. Chyna's the strong monster and Lita's the quick one.

Chyna's carrying her with ease, sunset flip and she almost got the victory, Chyna tricking Lita and then smacks her in the face. Another hit and some kicks and a big clothesline.

Lita gets hit again with a clothesline but she kicks out and a DDT to change the flow. Lita's stomping her and Lita avoids a disaster and she pulls the wrist but Chyna just shoves her around.

Elbow and Lita takes a neckbreaker, she's getting stomped on. Powerslam and Lita kicks out again. Press slam and that should be it! Wait what! Lita just pulled her up and Lita has the crossarmbreaker!

The only problem is that this is the worst armbar I've ever seen. Chyna turns it into a headscissor and Eddie's coming out.

Lita gets to the ropes and Chyna tosses Lita around some more. Rollup and Chyna kicks out. Chyna with a powerbomb and that will do it.

Kurt Angle's happy, Edge and Christian are happy because they no longer have to hear about Kurt's medals.

CHAIN MATCH:

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH:

Triple H (c) Vs. Kane

Both men have been attached with a chain but Triple H is attacking before they get joined by the wrist.

The Billion Dollar princess is enjoying the sight of her husband using a chair on Kane. So about that chain? The bell actually rang so i'm guessing all of thiss is legal.

The chain is being attached to Kane's broken arm and now triple H allows Tim White to help him out. Kane uses the chain against Triple H but not for long. Triple H is pulling on the chair to injure that arm further.

Pinfall and Kane kicks out with authority and Triple H is hammering on him again. Kane pulls on the chain and Triple H is busted open and Kane is building some momentum.

Kane's got the chain around the face of the game. Stephanie's shocked with the sight. Kane wraps the chain around for another huge strike. Kane's powering up and he's going to choke Triple H with the chain and the corwd is going wild.

Counter by the game as Kane climbed the top turnbuckle and got dragged right back down. Triple H has the upper hand again and they're heading outside but Kane reverses it and strikes back.

Triple H was thrown down by Kane, someone's got whiplash here. Facebuster and a terrible one too and these too guys are so groggy they're mostly stumbling around. Triple H going for the pedigree and Kane strikes the game down low!

The big red machine's climbing up and going after Triple H and knocks him down with the clothesline. Here's the signal for the chokeslam and Stephanie's crying, STONE COLD'S OUT and he's tossed aside but he's got a chair now. Low blow!

Austin accidently clobbers Triple H and here's the cover and THE CROWD GOES WILD! WE'VE GOT A NEW INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION!

Coach is chatting with Y2J about the upcoming tag team turmoil match. Jericho's partner will be a party animal.

Vince is arguing with Triple H and Steph.

TAG TEAM TURMOIL:

A.P.A Vs. The Radicalz

Winners become the number one contenders. Perry with a suplex on Faarooq, the Radicalz are using some nifty teamwork and here's a couple of strikes from Perry. Double clotheslines and Terri's wearing some funky shades.

Dean Malenko's dumped out by Bradshaw and Saturn gets hit with a spinebuster. APA wins and Saturn's dazed.

A.P.A Vs. The Dudley Boyz

Five more teams to go and The Dudleyz probably can last a good while. Big brawling going around and Devon's knocked down. Whip and a hard elbow. Powerslam from Faarooq.

The APA are using some cheap tactics to get the better of Devon. But not for long as Devon tags in Bubba Ray. Irish whip and Bubba is caught by the APA, Bradshaw's got a series of elbows.

Devon knocks down Bradshaw, side russian legsweep and Bradshaw's a tough guy. Hard hit to the back and a missed clothesline, fallaway slam and Devon's back just got wrecked there. Bradshaw's big boot clocks devon and bubba has to make a save.

Faarooq and bubba are brawling on the outside. DOOMSDAY DEVICE! Bradshaw's out and now Devon's going up top for a diving headubtt, like DAMN! THE TABLES ARE OUT!

The Hollys interfere and this leads to a win for the APA and wood for Devon.

A.P.A Vs. X-Factor

Officially Albert ain't competing in this match. Bradshaw is in and he's got a clothesline on X-Pac and a suplex to boot.

X-Pac is a roach and he tags in Credible. Bradshaw's just kicking him on the outside and X-pac tries to interfere and Albert does get involved.

Bradshaw's out of it, but in comes Faarooq to manhandle Justin Credible, Legdrop from the second rope and a kickout. Credible drives him down and here's X-Pac.

X-PAC SUCKS! X-PAC SUCKS! X-PAC SUCKS! The chops don't even get woos and Faarooq's powerslam is short on power. Bradshaw back in and misses the clothesline, boot on Credible.

Albert cheats and X-Factor just beat the APA. Women are screaming.

X-Factor Vs. The Hardy Boyz

Given the next batch of teams if X-Factor are eliminated we could get some cool dynamic action later on. Hardyz double team and Matt takes off his shirt. Low bridge by X-Pac and Jeff's in trouble.

Albert's done his fair share of helping already and now Jeff is being isolated. The Bronco Buster is despised.

Tag and Justin Credible and X-Pac are knocked down by Jeff, here's Matt to clean house. Boot to X-Pac and a quick legdrop and Credible's out of the ring and X-Pac takes a hit.

Jeff going for the Swanton and Albert pulls off Matt and Jeff dives on Albert. Justin Credible knocks out Matt and X-Pac gets the pin. I hate everything.

The tired Benoit is being punished by X-Pac and Justin Credible. Heyman's talking about two enemies joining forces. Justin Credible is stomping on Benoit in the corner and Jericho's trying to get back to the corner.

Chinlock on Benoit to wear him down. Benoit with a chop and a sunset flip. X-Pac with a spinning heel kick and I think he wants to end it! Kicks in the corner and he's going for the Bronco Buster but misses!

Tag to Jericho and Credible is nailed and X-Pac beaten to the punch, chops and a dropkick. Jericho outsmarts Justin Credible and he accidently nails the referee. Albert's using the opportunity to nail Benoit.

Double superkick on Jericho, a new ref runs in but Jericho kicked out. X-Pac going up and Benoit pushes him, Credible's catapulted into him and Albert is suplex, Credible is double suplexe onto him.

CROSSFACE ON CREDIBLE! WALLS ON X-PAC! DOUBLE TAP OUT!

My thoughts exactly. Mediocre show and Benoit was indeed the star.

In other news, some titles would change on a few occasions, starting with Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit winning the Tag Team titles from HHH and Stone Cold (also sidelining HHH for seven months). However, 3 days before King of the Ring, Austin helps the Dudley Boyz win the tag titles from the Canadian duo! Also, Big Show wins the Hardcore title the night after Judgment Day (Rhyno's first official loss in the WWF), only to lose it a week later to Chris Jericho. Jericho loses it a minute later to Rhyno. Test wins the Hardcore title two weeks before King of the Ring.

Finally, Jeff Hardy defeats Jerry Lynn to become Light Heavyweight Champion.

INVASION news: The first WCW superstar to appear is Lance Storm, who interferes in a match. A week later, Hugh Morrus interferes in an Edge matchup. At the same time, Undertaker's wife is being stalked by a mysterious superstar; a week before KotR, the stalker is revealed to be Diamond Dallas Page!

WWF: Steve Austin
Intercontinental: Kane
Tag Team: Dudley Boyz
European: Matt Hardy
Hardcore: Test
Women's: Chyna
Light Heavyweight: Jeff Hardy

King of the Ring 2001

Who the hell is this DDP guy in my opening package, well Austin's spending a lot of time on and so's Benoit.

All about broken minds and this PPV looks to have some good talent on it. So I'm pretty damn pumped.

IT'S ME! IT'S ME! IT'S DDP! He came out through the crowd and Diamond Dallas Page has arrived! Wooooo!

This non-contracted man is giving me a promo about Undertaker's wife and not being PG and stuff, all this is kinda lame.

I take that back, this is incredibly lame. All DDP ever wanted was to be a famous guy.

Heyman:"I don't like it, I'm not a fan of DDP, I'm not a fan of WCW!"

Kurt Angle Vs. Christian

Nobody has ever retained King of the ring and Christian stomps on early on Angle. Revversal and now Angle's stomping on Christian some more.

These guys are apparently still buddies but this is King of the Ring! ANKLE LOCK! Christian gets out of it and there's a series of right hands.

Angle can't get the suplex at first but he uses it soon after. Angle's getting some support. Christian's head bounced off the announce table.

Christian does the same to Angle on the steps and back to the ring they go, Christian going up top and Angle pushes him into the barricade. Angle's still desperate to finish this.

Suplex and Christian kicks out. kick to the gut by Angle and a few more stomps. He's going for another suplex and another nearfall. Angle's not frustrated yet, inside craddle!

Angle's got another suplex and now he's getting angry. Stomps again and Christian punches back a couple of times, rake to the eyes, Spinning heel kick by Christian.

Wait here comes Shane McMahon and he's got a WCW shirt on and Angle clotheslines Christian. Kurt Angle with a high risk moonsault and he missed! Christian hits back and a backbreaker from Christian.

Another nearfall. This is a very good match so far, unprettier, no Angle turns into an Ankle Lock. CHRISTIAN CLIMBS ON THE REF TO GET TO THE ROPES!

UNPRETTIER BY CHRISTIAN TO COUNTER THE ANGLE SLAM! UPSET CITY! NO SHANE PULLS CHRISTIAN OFF! Kurt with an Angle Slam to win the match.

This is weird, Shane's meeting Angle in a street fight later on.

Stone Cold and Debra are backstage with coach, they're bullying Coach. Austin looks like he's never heard of WCW as coach says if he loses tonight the title might go there.

Video package of Undertaker's wife being stalked and this is just weird. DDP still wants to become famous.

YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME!

Edge Vs. Rhyno

Second semi final and Rhyno spat in Edge's face, these guys are all friends. Edge chops Rhyno and this is a matchup of Spear versus Gore x3.

Rhyno showing off his balance, dropkick from Edge sends Rhyno out and he's favouring his knee now! barricade got to taste some flesh. Rhyno's dropped on it and Edge clotheslines him back down.

Edge hits the wall and Rhyno's trying to win this one by countout maybe? The turnbuckle has been exposed and Edge is back in the ring, Whip and Edge's sternum is hurting.

Rhyno using some high knees and Edge is dragged to the center for a cover and kickout! Punches from Edge and Rhyno's going to wear him down with a bodyscissors, JR is stunned.

Heyman's putting Rhyno over and Edge is struggling to get out of them. Big splash off the top rope by Rhyno but Edge somehow survived!

Irish whip, boot by Edge and Rhyno is dropped down. Atomic drop and a neckbreaker. Edge is starting to build up a little something here. He goes up top and Rhyno gets to him, BUT HERE'S A SUNSET FLIP FROM THE TOP!

Spinebuster! GORE INCOMING! GORE! SPEAR! GORE! SPEAR! GORE! SPEAR! Both mn are down and the ref is starting to count. Rhyno with the cover and Edge gets a shoulder up!

Rollup and Rhyno shoves him, GORE MISSES! DDT BY EDGE! HE'S PULLED OUT THE WIN!

Spike Dudley is with Molly Holly and he's got his tag partner, the Dudleyz are not happy with Spike. Devon giving us a DAY ONE promo.

Jericho is being interviewed by Tazz and he's sidestepping a lot of questions.

WWF TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

The Dudley Boyz (c) Vs. Spike Dudley and Kane

The titles always seem to end up reverting to these guys. Who is the mystery partner? HOLY CHRIST! KANE IS THE PARTNER!

Spike quickly runs in and Kane follows the dudleyz are in trouble. Why does Kane enjoy teaming up with little men? Press slam by Bubba ray and Kane catches him.

They're playing catch the Spike! Bubba falls on his asss backwards and he yells at Devon to tag him. Devon punches Kane and then runs into a powerslam. Devon has been isolated and Devon's hurt and Spike is being overpowered by the referee.

Devon was only playing possum and here comes Bubba Ray. Bubba Ray sidewalk slams Spike, there's the legdrop from up top and Kane runs in to stop the count.

HUGE Backdrop by Bubba on Spike and he keeps flying around. Kicks from Spike but Bubba's got a powerbomb! Devon back in and Spike takes a corner, more punches and more punches again from Devon. Scoop slam and Devon going on the second rope, the headbutt misses.

Spike's inching towards Kane, but Devon's closer to Bubba, they both get in and Kane's dominant. Bubba's in the corner and Devon's knocked down. Kane drives Bubba to the floor and Bubba kicks out. Devon' on the outside, Powerslam and Devon was slow so Bubba had to kickout.

Kane chucks Spike on the Dudleyz. Kane off the top and Bubba kicked out, Dudley Dog on Bubba, this time Devon gets it right. Double suplex on Kane and they're going to go low on Kane. Double dropkick by Spike and Devon holds on 3D! Spike eats the pin.

Out comes a table but it's the Dudleyz who go through them.

Edge is backstage and Christian joins him, there's a little bit of tension but Christian just wants to wish him good luck.

Page is now angry with Undertaker who's been playing some mind games. Hey check out Billy Gunn in New York. The One is not happy since he's not competing tonight, a lot of stars aren't happy at all with being stuck in new york.

Kurt Angle Vs. Edge

They shake hands without any cheap shots. But Angle still wants Edge to lay down for him since he's got a match with Shane. Edge doesn't want any of that and he knocks him out.

Flapjack and a few stomps, Edge is still favouring the ribs and he's still stomping down. Angle reverses and starts giving him some right hands and some stomps. Edge and Angle are being knocked around. Kick to the face by Edge and Angle suplexes him to the outside.

Edge is whipped into the steps and Angle's going after him hard. Stomps on the outside he's targetting those bad ribs. Suplex by Angle and a nearfall, Angle with a reverse chinlock to wear Edge down.

Rollup and Angle gets out of it quickly, another suplex and only a two count. Snapmare and a chinlock. This is going for a while and edge works his way back up. Angle dumps him back to the outside. Angle's lip is busted and a frontfacelock drops Edge on his ribs.

Angle shoves him back in the ring, he's going up top and Edge with a dropkick takes out Angle! HURRICANRANA! Edge going for the cover and Angle's shoulder gets up. They are now sluggish each other on their knees, both guys get back up and Edge using a few clotheslines and a backdrop.

Missed dropkick by Angle and a catapult has Angle unstable, Edge getgs a two count. Angle slam countered, DDT Countered, rollup two count. Christian comes out and distracts the ref when Edge had another pin on. Angle has the ankle lock on after Edge knocked out the ref.

Shane's in the ring and he just speared Kurt Angle. Impaler DDT! Ref counts to three and Angle loses! We've got a new King of the Ring!

Benoit is being interviewed by Tazz, same questions about bringing over the title to WCW.

Benoit: "WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT! Actually that's a pretty good question!" *walks off*

WWF Tough Enough starts on MTV! Angle's ranting to some stonefaced dudes.

WWF LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH:

Jeff Hardy (c) Vs. X-Pac

No one from Team Xtreme or X-Factor will show up and the next PPV is Fully Loaded and it'll be in Cleveland.

X-Pac taking down Jeff and taunting him, sideheadlock and X-Pac's still taunting. Armdrag and a wristlock by Jeff, whip and a headscissor takedown.

Jeff runs the barricade and hammers X-Pac. Jeff's taken for a ride and X-Pac uses the abdominal stretch and he's holding onto the ropes. Jeff is tossed out and a sprinboard crossbody has knocked down Jeff.

Jeff gets back in the ring and runs into a kick to the face. The crowd giving X-Pac the usual chant. The two of them trade blows and Jeff again is knocked down by a spinning heel kick.

Comeback may start there and X-Pac's making a few mistakes. What the hell happened there. Jeff with a corkscrew and up he goes. A lot of the moves in this match are just not coming off cleanly. Jeff takes off his shirt to the delight of the girls.

X-Factor and Jeff had his foot on the ropes. The match continues and now the X-Factor got countered, Jeff's going up to the top and X-Pac knocks him straight back down. SWANTON! Jeff retains!

Stone Cold's bullying Regal and he gives Vince a call. He wants to talk about the whole WCW situation. Austin needs Vince A.S.A.P! The new magazine is a lot of Lita.

DDP is made to look like a fool. Turns out it was Serah filming DDP and she doesn't really look all that hot.

Diamond Dallas Page Vs. The Undertaker

The gloves are on and Undertaker's relaxing ahead of the beatdown. Both announcers agree that DDP is dead meat. DDP with the first hits and now Undertaker's clobbering him.

Underaker mounts DDP and hammers away. Now DDP's in the corner getting stomped on. Low blow from Page and are there no referees for this one? Undertaker with the bodyshots. Page's head gets driven into the steps.

Out comes Serah with a video camera. Page with the chair and that's two chairshots, but undertaker takes him down and starts to hammer on him. Heyman has no idea what's going on other than DDP getting the crap beaten out of him.

The Page beatdown continues and Undertaker's putting on a clinic on how to destroy a man. DDP wants all this to stop. Taker says no. He's leaving and is that it? He barely got anything in.

Street Fight match:

Shane McMahon Vs. Kurt Angle

Takedown by Kurt and he's keeping Shane in a waistlock and Shane gets to the ropes. Suplex by Angle and some stomps. Kurt's going ape on Shane and a whip into a kick.

Kurt's bleeding above the eye and Angle's in the middle of ring calling Shane out and Angle's using his amateur wrestling skills as well as a lot of strikes.

Suplex and Shane's been flying all over the place. Shane's trapped in the corner and Shane's trying to corner him. Kurt taunts Shane again and this time Shane O'Mac just kicks him.

Kurt brings him down, JR pointing out that Shane's beaten just about everyone. Shane's walking the barricade and he's flying to take down Kurt Angle. Out comes the Kendo stick.

Shane really likes to spin that stick, the Kendo stick snaps as Shane just whacks Angle with it, hell Shane's now sidestepping Angle. Plenty of brawling on the outside and an armdrag into the barricade.

Shane's trying to cover Angle but the olympic champ just bridges out of them. Trashcan and a few more weapons are brought to the ring. Shane using a sign to knock out Angle.

kickout and a reversal by Angle, Enziguri countered into an ankle lock. Shane McMahon is now outwrestling Kurt Angle. DDT and both men are now down. Shane going for a sharpshooter.

Kendo stick dodged and Shane's really making a fool out of Kurt Angle. Trashcan shot on Angle and this is getting really lopsided. Shane went for a shooting star but Angle rolled out of the way an Shane just took himself out there.

Takedown by Kurt Angle and he sends Shane over the top. The brawl continues up the ramp and now Shane suplexes Kurt.

Suplex and Kurt just took out Shane. Another suplex and Sane just bounced off the King of the Ring set. Well this last suplex just went through glass and Angle's bleeding from the shoulder and Shane's also busted. Kurt goes for another Suplex into the set.

Crowd wants another one. Two of them but Shane's not going through, will he give up? No he just drives Shane through the glass. Angle earning his paycheck tonight and he's going to run over Shane who hasn't acutally moved for some time.

Shane's been placed on top and he's wheeling him back to the ring. Cover and Shane kicked out and Kurt's on the verge of tears. Shane's fighting back with a trashcan lid and he just gave Angle the ANGLE SLAM! Arm's over and Angle kicked out.

Angle going for the Ankle decides to use a catapult and Shane's been jammed in there. Hard blows and Kurt hits Shane's bank some more and a wooden board is used on that back. Angle's setting it up and using it as a platform FOR A HIGHER LEVEL ANGLE SLAM!

That was enough for Angle to pick up the win.

Benoit is doing some intense pre-match warming up and Austin's just anxiously waiting for Vince, but some guy tells him his match starts now.

Well here's our video package. It shows the canadians beating the two man power trip. Linda made the match, Austin's become so paranoid he's alll over the place. He's pretty much randomly beating up everyone or trying to hug and kiss people.

While Benoit and Jericho may have similar skillsets their personalities couldn't be any more different.

MAIN EVENT:

WWF WORLD TITLE MATCH:

TRIPLE THREAT:

Chris Benoit Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (c)

Austin's mentally unstable coming out to the ring he's waiting for Vince but Jericho and Benoit jump him. Bell rings and Austin hasn't taken off his jacket yet hell he's actually trying to escape.

But we've got some crowd surfing and the two canadians are double teaming him. Benoit is tossing Austin back over the barricade and back to the ring they go. Benoit takes a corner and Austin using chops. Benoit and Jericho chopping Austin and stomping on him in the corner.

Kick to the jaw by Austin on Benoit, Jericho with a pin and Benoit pulls him off. Austin using that distraction to beat on the two of them. Jericho brought down by Austin and we're back to some double teaming in the corner. Jericho with a heel kick misses Austin but hits Benoit.

Jericho checking on Benoit and now hammering on him, they're slugging each other and Austin exposes a turnbuckle. Austin and Jericho teaming up on Benoit. The two brawl, Austin going for a Thesz Press and Jericho turns it into a Walls of Jericho. Benoit with the save and Jericho got thrown out.

Austin's brought down into a crossface but he gets to the ropes in time. Suplex and Benoit's going for covers but Austin keeps kicking out. Austin throws him out of the ring and he's going after Benoit. Head bounces into the steps and he taunts Benoit with the belt.

Back to the ring they go and Austin stomps on Benoit. Chris Jericho's still nowhere to be seen and there's a pair of hard chops. Austin buries the knee into the sternum, cover but a kickout. Austin throws Benoit into Jericho sending the latter back out. Quick stomps on Benoit and Stone Cold is now in control of the matchup.

Stunner incoming, Benoit pushes Austin into the ref and BENOIT JUST USED A STUNNER ON AUSTIN! Ref gets back up and Austin kicks out at two. Benoit's going for a beltshot and the ref's counting slowly JERICHO INTERFERES! Benoit's head crashes into the ringpost. Jericho going for the cover and why is Earl the main event referee, they need someone stronger physically!

Austin's going for the Walls of Jericho on Jericho but he can't quite get them and now Jericho's going for the walls on Austin who gets to the ropes! Jericho with the suplex and a cover. Spinebuster by Stone Cold stops the Y2J momentum. Cover and Jericho kicks out in time, Benoit's coming to again.

Knees into the abdomen, side russian legsweep and a pin, kickout by Jericho. Sleeper hold applied and Jericho's starting to fade. Jericho and Austin are slugging it out and Austin is brought down by a series of clotheslines. Benoit gets back in, not for long as a dropkick sends him back out. BULLDOG! LIONSAULT! KNEES!

Austin wanted the stunner, couldn't get it, Thesz Press doesn't quite get it, Benoit's got the chair and he hits Jericho by accident, he misses Stone Cold, STUNNER! Benoit just rolled out of the ring. Cover on Jericho and kickout again! They're going up top and THE SUPERPLEX! Jericho's back is hurting. Austin going for ANOTHER superplex! But he only gets a two count.

A third one maybe? No Benoit's back in and here come the Germans. Three and Benoit wants more there's a fourth and a fifth! Low blow by Austin stops the chain of suplexes. All three men are out cold. Jericho's GOT THE WALLS! Benoit's GOT THE CROSSFACE! STONE COLD IS TAPPING OUT! Who's won the match? Nobody! There can onlly be one!

CROSSFACE! BENOIT TRYING TO MAKE JERICHO TAP! Jericho rolls over and THE WALLS! NO! CHOP! MORE CHOPS! Snap suplex and a cover by Benoit and the Rattlesnake's got the steal chair, baseball slide puts him out of commission for the time being. Benoit is sent flying, Jericho's the only one left in the ring. WAIT A MINUTE A BLACK MAN IS ASSAULTING AUSTIN! IT'S! IT'S! WHO?

THE ANNOUNCERS TELL ME THAT THIS MAN IS BOOKER T AND HE JUST TOOK OUT AUSTIN! SUPLEX! BENOIT USING A SERIES OF SUPLEXES JERICHO COUNTERING WITH THE WALLS! Benoit's come so close so many times to winning this title, he won't tap out! He makes it to the ropes. Austin went through a table there. Benoit and Jericho are fighting for the title, Waistlocks, countered, scoop slam and Benoit's climbing the top turnbuckle, Jericho's up and slams Benoit, Bulldog!

Lionsault he didn't catch Benoit cleanly! Benoit KICKS OUT! Chops and the two fall out of the ring. Jericho attacks Austin some more to make sure he's out. Jericho's targeting the most injured man left. Jericho's climbing up and this could be high risk MOONSAULT! HE TOOK TOO LONG! BENOIT PULLS HIM OFF! BENOIT GOING UP! DOWN COMES THE HEADBUTT! JERICHO YANKS THE REF OUT OF THE RING! Benoit hammering on Jericho's back and he's climbing up top for a suplex!

Again all three men are down. Austin's finally come to and he's covering Benoit and he retains! Vince never showed up and Austin retained via Benoit and Jericho destroying each other. Not gonna lie, that might have been my favourite match of the year and that's including the three stages of hell match and the X-7 main event.

Okay, now there's LOTS of stuff.

WCW is now introduced as an opposing force looking to take over the WWF. They even get matches on WWF programming, including a match where Billy Kidman defeated Shane Helms to win the Cruiserweight Title.

Rhyno defeated Test for the Hardcore Title, but then was immediately waylaid by WCW wrestler Mike Awesome, who then won the title and took it under WCW control! Thankfully for the WWF, Jeff Hardy got the title back soon after.

Speaking of Jeff, he would lose the Light Heavyweight Title to X-Pac before that happened.

Kane lost the Intercontinental Title to Albert, thanks to some WCW interference for some reason.

The Dudley Boyz lost the Tag Team Titles to the APA.

During an assault on some WWF wrestlers (Kane and Jericho IIRC) by some WCW wrestlers (Lance Storm and Mike Awesome), a group of WWF wrestlers came out to help. The Dudley Boyz, Raven, Rhyno, Justin Credible, and Tazz. They then all turned on the WWF guys and joined with the WCW guys, and also ex-ECW guys Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer coming out of the crowd, causing Paul Heyman to leave the announce booth and declare that ECW has joined in the Invasion, stealing ex-ECW guys from both WWF and WCW!

Vince and Shane put aside their differences to wipe out the extreme threat, but as it turned out Shane was in cahoots with Heyman, who had sold ECW....to STEPHANIE MCMAHON.

So now Fully Loaded has become The Invasion, where Shane and Stephanie pool their resources to try and bring down their father's company with the assets of his two largest competitors.

WWF Champion: Steve Austin
Tag Team: The A.P.A.
Intercontinental: Albert
European: Matt Hardy
Hardcore: Jeff Hardy
Light Heavyweight: X-Pac

WCW Champion: Booker T
Tag Team: Chuck Palumbo/Sean O'Haire
United States: Booker T
Cruiserweight: Billy Kidman

Chyna is still officially the Women's Champ, but she's done with WWF for good at this point, never appears again, and the Women's Title is ignored until Survivor Series.

So yes, not only can the main event of Wrestlemania revolve around McMahon vs. McMahon vs. McMahon vs. McMahon, but the kayfabe biggest angle in history can also be reduced to McMahons vs. McMahons.

I mean, look at the PPV poster!

That's what we get to symbolize WWF vs. WCW/ECW.

It was so damn good. It was thrilling. It was so logical yet so unexpected. It was awesome watching it all unfold and letting the puzzle pieces really start fitting together in your mind, and the foreseeing the professional wrestling Ragnarok on the horizon, from which only one company could survive.

And then an hour later they ruined it. :-(

Kane lost the Intercontinental Title to Albert, thanks to some WCW interference for some reason.

I can add some info to this. Kane is Undertaker's brother, the same Undertaker whose wife DDP is after for some unknown reason (seriously, if I were married to Kimberly, I wouldn't be wasting my time pursuing Sara-taker). DDP delivered a diamond-cutter to take out Kane, allowing Albert to win his first (and only) singles title in the WWF.

Also during this short time period between KotR and InVasion, the first WCW superstar to get future-endeavored was Buff Bagwell. He appeared in what was the first official WCW match on WWF television, wrestling Booker T for the WCW World title. The match ended in a no-contest when Austin and Angle interfered and beat down Booker T. Buff acted like he was helping, but Austin and Angle beat him down afterwards. Appropriately, Buff was fired a week later.

WCW Superstars active during the InVasion at this time: Booker T, DDP, Billy Kidman, Shane Helms, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Chavo Guerrero, Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Hugh Morrus, Chris Kanyon, Shawn Stasiak, Stacy Keibler, Torrie Wilson
WCW Superstars released at this time: Buff Bagwell
ECW Superstars active at this time: Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Rhyno, Raven, The Dudley Boyz, Tazz, Justin Credible (and once again, Lance Storm and Mike Awesome)
ECW Superstars released at this time: Jerry Lynn (who had no involvement in the storyline anyway, but still...)
Superstars who would've had a big impact, due to being ex-WCW stars, but couldn't due to injury/being released/retirement: Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, and Dean Malenko

ECW's only faces in the WWF at this point were Tajiri and Spike Dudley

You know what WWF needed during the InVasion?

Goldberg - This would end the whole WCW = Heel theory that Vince slowly planted into our minds, but a heel Goldberg would have been awesome if WWF could've pulled it off. Hell, I'd have been fine with him being the stalker of Taker's wife. At least Goldberg vs. Taker would be far more believable than DDP vs. Taker.
Scott Steiner - The mic war between him and Rock would be epic.
Benoit, Guerrero, and Mysterio - Filthy Animals reunion (minus Konnan)! Oh, and Benoit could give us awesome matches with both stars.
And most importantly, a true 3-way battle between WWF, WCW, and ECW, which is what we THOUGHT was going to happen until Shane and Stephanie ****ed it all up.

I think in the long run I don't have too much of a problem with WCW and ECW eventually forming the Alliance. This is ultimately the climax of Vince McMahon's 20-year arc of destroying all competition, and in the end it should be the WWF triumphant over one final force. But to tease the idea of a 3-way battle and not even humor us with ANY follow-through really was a letdown.

Working from the framework of "Must start at Invasion, must end at Survivor Series," I think maybe it could go like this:

1.) Invasion should have been purely WWF vs. WCW, with WCW gaining a slight upper hand
2.) Then introduce ECW as a chaotic third element to make Summerslam a 3-way struggle.
3.) ECW afterward sides with the WWF against WCW (I mean really, both companies hated WCW more than each other anyway) as Vince brokers a deal with ECW to wipe out their natural enemy and then work on co-existing, maybe even promising them a timeslot.
3.) WWF + ECW Alliance turns the tide at Unforgiven.
4.) Sensing defeat, in the ensuing month WCW starts to woo ECW under the pretense that Vince's history proves that there will be no peace after this war, and at No Mercy ECW turns on the WWF, forms The Alliance with WCW, and again turns the tide.
5.) Survivor Series pretty much goes as it did.

Still TONS of holes to fill but just doing some light fantasy booking to make the angle more dynamic and meaningful. I mean, really, the entire "ECW" faction of the Invasion was really meaningless after that first night aside from padding out the WCW side with some more WWF guys and giving an excuse to throw RVD into the mix (which admittedly was a pretty big part of the angle).

Slight progress! I'm cutting down the length of my writeups for this, because trying to write so much made it both hard to follow the match at times and felt a bit filler-ish at times. So instead we get more streamlined thoughts and reactions to just main things! It's still a ton of words because of how huge this PPV is.

Wrestlemania X-7

Here's a sort of recap of past main events and a bunch of really weird shots of people with portable TVs.

Paul Heyman is doing commentary with JR tonight.

Jericho was put in some handicap matches by Regal so Jericho dressed up as Doink.

Chris Jericho vs. William Regal

Jericho almost overshot a flying crossbody over the top rope. He's getting all the offense in and Regal's chest is beet red.

I guess Jericho's shoulder's been hurt? And what timing JR, Jericho's shoulder goes into the corner twice.

Lionsault fails as he hits knees. Regal pulls off a turnbuckle and tosses Jericho into it. Jericho fights back with an enzuigiri. And Regal with a double underhook suplex from the top.

Here's the walls of Jericho, but he can't turn and the Regal stretch is on. Rope grab. Oh man those chops are hard and WOOOOO. Regal goes into the exposed turnbuckle and a lionsault seals the win.

Shane's got a WCW limo.

Jacqueline is back and with APA. Bradshaw loves Texas and namedrops everyone ever.

Right to Censor (Val, Bull & Goodfather) vs. Acolytes & Tazz

Everyone's going at it to start, even Jacqueline and Steven Richards. Bull hits his one springboard move, it's all downhill for him this match. Oh wait, he's got a nice big boot too. Whoops Tazz botches a whip and has to run backwards into a clothesline.

Bradshaw has a nice big boot too. Oh man another boot. He catches a flying Val with one arm. And a hard slam, I'm marking hard for Bradshaw here.

Bradshaw power bombed, but the ho train misses and Bradshaw with a clothesline and pin.

Linda is a vegetable now or something?

The crowd has about zero reaction for Raven.

Triple threat hardcore match: Raven vs. Kane vs. Big Show

Kane beats up Raven before Big Show even gets there. Some of these items Raven brought are pretty weird. A tree branch? A frankenstein doll?

These guys are deep into the crowd, where did Raven go? Oh there he is, he's in a backstage area. Big Show locks himself in a cage with Raven, Kane doesn't sell that lock at all as he just pulls the door open.

Kane pushes Raven right through the fence, the stadium workers won't be happy with that. And now Raven goes through a window and a door is knocked off. WWF gonna have to pay up!

And now the drywall is destroyed, I hope this is a temporary room.

loool Raven hops in a golf cart and crashes 15 feet ahead. Kane runs over Raven with his cart.

"There goes the Snapple." There's shattered glass bottles everywhere.

Back out through the entrance. Big Show and Raven fall into a large box, probably with an air mat inside. Kane leg drops into the box and pins Big Show to win the hardcore belt.

Angle is reviewing some videos for his match against Benoit.

Jimmy Snuka's in New York. He's old now.

Perry Saturn what the hell kind of hat are you wearing.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Test

Saturn took his hat off, JR says the hat was bothering him. Glad I wasn't alone.

Test is practically squashing Guerrero here. Now Test is stuck in the ropes and finally takes some shots.

Sleeper hold slows this match to a stand-still. Two tiltawhirl slams from Test and Guerrero is kicking out. Saturn runs in the ring for a suplex while the ref looks away, Heyman says it's the moss covered three handled family gradunzel. So THAT'S what that move is.

Test with a big boot and Dean Malenko runs up to break the cover. Guerrero hits Test with the belt and he wins the European belt.

Foley mentions Houston with a smile, fans love him.

Kurt Angle hates Texas. Is this gonna be a heel vs. heel match? Is Benoit somehow a face now? Maybe they just want to put on a good match.

Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit

Both guys going for takedowns on the mat, going for that amateur style. Another exchange of this, some in the crowd recognize it and cheer.

Benoit really wants that crossface. Angle keeps going for those ropes. Benoit hits the stairs and Angle can go to suplex town.

WOOOOO. Handful of chops from Benoit, Angle responds with a suplex and shouts WOOOO.

Suplex from the top by Benoit, and check out this camera angle from the cheap seats. You can hardly see the ring. Angle has the ankle lock, but wait Benoit has it on now!

Crossface now, and Angle gets it on Benoit! Ref bump but kind of a weak one. Crossface on Angle and he taps. Oh, but an Olympic slam and Benoit's kicked out! Angle tries a moonsault and Benoit wasn't in position to be hit by it. Diving headbutt and Angle can kick out too.

Angle reverses a hold into a cradle and pulls the tights, he gets a win.

Kamala is on a desk and Regal is mad. What on earth, where did he come from. Oh wait oh god the gimmick battle royale is on this card.

Army loves WWF and so on and so on.

Benoit putting the crossface on Angle backstage, guess that feud will continue.

Chyna's really selling that broken neck, what with coming back in something like 1/8th the time it took Austin.

Holy purple outfit

Ivory vs. Chyna

Ivory hits Chyna with the belt before the bell and Chyna's back up after a beating. They're using Chyna's injury as the reason she's fighting women instead of men now.

Power bomb and Chyna doesn't want a pin. A press and drop and now Chyna wins.

Here's a recap of WCW being bought. Shane and Vince feud, oh, and they're gonna fight. Hm.

Mick Foley's gonna be the guest ref.

Street fight: Shane McMahon vs. Vince McMahon

Shane working those elbow drops and Stephanie pleads for some end to the madness from Shane. Shane's beating down Vince with a sign.

It wouldn't be a Foley match without a no DQ stip. Shane with his arsenal of punches and fans cheer for the guy who's on WCW's team.

Vince is down on the spanish table and Shane goes to the top corner, he dives and puts himself through the table. Stephanie saved Vince.

Trish and Linda coming to the ring, I don't even understand this storyline. Linda's got lots of medication or something, who is aligned with who. Oh, well Trish has turned on Vince now and fights Stephanie. Stephanie slaps Foley, why not.

Stephanie runs out of the ring, holy crap she tripped and that was the worst acting job. Vince says a b word. He gives Foley a couple chair shots and puts Linda on a chair in the ring.

Vince is beating Shane with garbage cans then tossing them from the ring. He keeps almost hitting Heyman, I wonder if it's on purpose. Oh, Linda's up and she kicks Vince's groin. Foley beats up Vince too, what a ref. Shane leaps from one corner and dropkicks Vince in the other, that's a decent show of a spot. And Shane wins.

Here's a bunch of guys around the ring setting up tables and stuff.

TLC: Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian vs. Dudley Boyz

Jeff does a springboard off Matt into both Dudleys, and there's quickly ladders and chairs in the ring. Jeff gets drop toe held (dropped toe hold? How do I tense) onto a chair. Edge tries jumping off a chair to clothesline, the chair is half bent.

Both Hardys fly off ladders onto Christian. Edge gets hit with the Dudley headbutt. GET THE TABLES. The crowd knows how this works.

Jeff gets powerbombed through Edge and a table. Now there's four tables set up outside. And there's three ladders in the ring, everyone going up. And of course they all fall off.

Out runs some guy, Spike Dudley? Who is this? Well, he takes out both Edge and Christian. And Rhyno is here too, he's Edge and Christian's friend? Matt speared through a table. Oh, and out comes Lita, everyone has an ally. Lita gives Rhyno a hurricanrana and her pants are half off. Lita gives Spike a hard chair shot and off goes the shirt. 3D on Lita!

Jeff is up on a 20 foot ladder and he swanton bombs Rhyno and Spike, he's dead too.

D-Von and Christian both have the belts, Matt moves the ladder. They both fall down and Jeff tries walking across three ladders, he can't complete the spot. Jeff's foot is in the ladder and he's hanging, Edge with a spear! Jeff is gonna need to many meds after this match.

Matt and Bubba are both on the huge ladder in the ring, Rhyno pushes it and Matt and Bubba fall through four table and they break in spectacular fashion. Rhyno helps up Christian and he gets both belts.

Why are they showing the armed forces segment a second time?

TURN IT UP wait Steve Blackman is with Grandmaster Sexay? What happened to Scotty? Nooo, not X-Pac!

Steve Blackman & Grandmaster Sexay vs. X-Pac & Justin Credible

The crowd's going nuts with the X-Pac sucks chant as a bronco buster whiffs. X-Pac steals the sunglasses and... I can't tell if he was trying to dance or what but he failed at that cheap gimmick.

Look at Blackman go to work on everyone. Oh, he gets hit with double superkicks and that's enough for a win?

Apparently this match was all the pre-show stuff and somehow stuck in here, no wonder it was a squash match.

Time for the Gimmick Battle Royal, the only match this card I've seen before. I think I came across it searching for Doink matches years ago. <_< Heenan and Okerlund back for commentary.

You know Iron Shiek is old when John Tenta almost beats him to the ring. REEEPO MAN what a theme song.

Gimmick Battle Royal: Bushwhackers vs. Duke "The Dumpster" Droese vs. Iron Shiek vs. Earthquake vs. The Goon vs. Doink vs. Kamala & Kimchee vs. Repo Man vs. Jim Cornette vs. Nikolai Volkoff vs. Michael Hayes vs. One Man Gang vs. Gobbledy Gouker vs. Tugboat vs. Hillbilly Jim vs. Brother Love vs. Sgt. Slaughter

I guess Akeem wasn't a good enough gimmick for this event. Oh god we get a flashback to the Surviver Series with Okerlund dancing. "Here you see Slaughter in action." "That was then, now he's shooting blanks." Oh, Heenan.

Repo Man is out 3 seconds in, BOOOOO. And Tugboat dumps the Gobbledy Gouker, whose name I'm not allowed to really type on this site. And there goes Tugboat. John Tenta's out and Okerlund can't help but call him by name.

Kimchee's gone, Luke is gone, Cornette gone. And out the other side is the Dumpster. The Goon's out, And Volkoff is terrible at selling a whiff punch as he flies out. Doink tosses out Butch, no more Bushwhackers.

Kamala tosses Doink and the crowd boos hard. Michael Hayes out too, and Kamala pushes out One Man Gang. Slaughter will avenge Doink and he tosses Kamala. Slaughter tosses Brother Love, who gets tossed by Hillbilly Jim, and he's pushed out by Iron Shiek.

It's a shame Shiek is too old to do anything or else they could've made this marginally better. He spent most of the match holding on to the rope. Oh, and Slaughter puts on the cobra clutch after the match. Heenan won't shake hands with Okerlund.

HHH has beaten everyone, except Undertaker! Let's work Stephanie into this storyline too!

HHH vs. Undertaker

Check out that temporary spanish announce table. That thing folds under HHH like paper, wow.

Undertaker's got all the offense here, and he's really pushing his walk along the rope as being "old school". HHH prevents that from even happening.

HHH trying some covers and he's angry at the ref. Taker knocks him out, so HHH gets his sledgehammer. Mike Chioda steals the hammer away, these two are gonna feud. And oh, ref bump. Chokeslam, cover, HHH kicks out.

Now that the ref's out, HHH gets dumped into the crowd. They're up into the sound stage. HHH grabs a chair and hits Taker a bunch. Undertaker with a chokeslam, HHH falls about 12 feet to the ground. Oh, there's a mat there. EMTs are treating HHH, they don't really know what they're doing.

Back to the ring, ref's still out. Undertaker finds the sledgehammer! Low blow stops it, and Taker with a big boot.

Undertaker is caught in HHH's arms, he turns it over into a tombstone! But still no ref. Undertaker wants the last ride, HHH gets the sledgehammer and hits Taker on the way up! Ref's up! But a two count! What!

Taker's face is busted open. He's in the corner, and gets HHH and hits the last ride now to win. He's building quite the streak.

On the replay, you can see HHH bladed Taker's face then hit him with the hammer, he did a good job of getting it in quickly and pretty discretely.

Some kid won a Limp Bizkit contest, check out these photoshop skills. Poor kid, it's his favorite band?

Debra is Austin's wife? She gets to be Rock's manager for whatever reason, to make a storyline or something. Angle acting as fuel in forming the feud between these two.

No DQ? Who brought back commissioner Foley?

No DQ: Steve Austin vs. The Rock

Austin hits a Thesz press early and you know they're gonna tease their finishers already while the action's moving fast. And they head into the crowd, Austin gets to take a seat. Whoops Austin has to take a minute to fix his knee brace.

This is Rock's third straight Wrestlemania main event. He celebrates by being suplexed from the top, and off goes a turnbuckle pad. Austin's dumped out of the ring, luckily he falls on that pad.

Hebner trips over the stairs and Rock is hit in the face with the belt! Rock climbs onto a table, the table just shatters into pieces. Uh.

Rock's face is bleeding, he blocks going into that exposed turnbuckle. Neckbreaker and Rock's eating punches and knees. Rock channels his inner-Hogan and just runs Austin over a couple times.

Here's the ring bell, Rock nails Austin's face with it and both guys have bloody masks. This one guy at ringside with a Hawaiian shirt is going nuts as Rock is dropped onto the barricades. And a TV monitor into Rock's face.

Both guys staggering about, Austin gives some middle fingers, and Rock pushes away the stunner setup. Sharpshooter! Two bloody faces both screaming as this hold is on. Austin's in the middle, he crawls to the rope. Heyman and JR are arguing about who's biased.

Austin gets on the sharpshooter now! But Austin can't hold on for too long. But he puts on one more, and Rock's right by the rope. Austin with the Million Dollar Dream on now, he's reaching back to his days as Ringmaster! I never knew they'd acknowledge those days again! Rock climbs the rope to get a counter cover, man he is so slow at this.

Rock hits a stunner! Austin's own move! Nobody will be covered in this match! And out walks Vince McMahon to ruin a perfectly good match.

Both guys with spinebusters, Rock wants his elbow now! Elbow and the cover, Vince pulls Rock off of Austin. Rock chases Vince and runs into Austin who hits a rock bottom! Two count! Austin wants a stunner, not this time and Hebner is down.

Austin orders Vince to get a chair? And he hits Rock with it. Hebner's still out though, here he is and Rock kicks out. Austin wants to use the chair himself and he's hit with a rock bottom! Rock gives Vince some smackdown but then gets hit with a stunner! Kick out! Crowd's going nuts.

Finally Austin nails Rock with that chair. Rock kicks out again!? Austin's hitting Rock over and over with the chair. Austin finally gets a pin and Vince is happy. Austin and Vince shake hands, what has happened.

Vince and Austin celebrate with beers and he flips off everyone. then he hits Rock again for good measure.

Star of the PPV: Steve Austin

Botch of the PPV: Two announce tables both collapsing under no pressure at all.

Invasion starts off with like a million pyrotechnical displays.

Christian crashes into the turnbuckle and he's gotten isolated for now. Short clothesline by Awesome and a slam, splash and a kickout. Christian runs into the boot of Mike Awesome

Whip and a knee by Storm, cover and a kickout. Crossbody by Christian and Edge wants to get in, Awesome knocks out Edge and Christian's saved by Edge.

Flying clothesline and again Christian kicks out and Storm tags in to stomp. BIG SPLASH OFF THE TOP ROPE! Edge with the save again. Awesome looking to finish this up top and Christian counters!

He's aiming for Edge and Awesome reaches storm, Edge with the tag he's cleaning house. Backdrop on Storm, dropkick on Awesome and he goes to pin Storm. Pinning shenanigans and Storm survives a rollup.

Christian with a double clothesline and edge spears Awesome, Storm with the save. Elbow to the face and a superkick on Edge, Christian sends him to the outside, Awesome with the pin and a kickout by Edge.

CHRISTIAN SPEARS AWESOME! Edge with the pin and the WWF wins the first match.

Vince is happy, Regal's here and apparently Debra and Austin have arrived. Regal's going to be facing Raven later tonight.

Next video package is for a feud between referees Nick Patrick and Earl Hebner.

SPECIAL REFEREES MATCH:

SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: Mick Foley

Nick Patrick Vs. Earl Hebner

These guys seem to hate each other more than the active wrestlers. Shoving and slapping early on. All the refs from both groups on the sidelines.

Hebner with the early attacks and Patrick turns it round and starts unoading. Hebner with knees to the midsection and Hebner's dumped to the outside. The two sets of refs are at a standoff.

Patrick is getting beaten on in the corner and Earl Hebner unloads a series of punches. Patrick with a low blow, baseball slide and the officials are all brawling now. Foley can't keep the refs in check so he's getting rid of the WCW referees.

Nick's arguing with Foley and Hebner takesdown Patrick and pins him for the three count.

Foley beats up Nick Patrick after the match and even uses socko on him.

They've been talking a lot about the old Stone Cold, DDP abducted Debra.

Debra's really stressed and really DDP stalked the other chick?

Video package of the APA hating on WCW coming into their turf. WCW guys are taking a hell of a beating in these packages.

Clothesline on Faarooq and Teddy Long is being distracted whule Faarooq is getting worked on. Spinebuster by Faarooq and he's aiming for a tag. Palombo also wants him.

Bradshaw with a boot on Palombo and a powerslam, kickout by Palombo. Kick to the face by O'Haire and Bradhsaw gets dropkicked to the back. Palombo kicks Faarooq in the face, clothesline from Hell.

WWF is looking to sweep these matches tonight.

Vince is looking smug as hell chatting with Jericho. The other McMahons and Heyman are stressing out while Kidman's feeling chill.

CHAMPION VS. CHAMPION:

X-Pac Vs. Billy Kidman

X-PAC SUCKS! He's the only WWF guy who will get hated on by the crowd. X-Pac is getting hated on by the crowd some more.

Cheapshots and now Kidman's copying X-Pac. Droptoe hold and a headlock. Kidman with a headscissors followed by an Enziguri. He slides under the bottom rope to take down X-Pac.

Another takedown and X-Pac tosses Kidman over the top rope. Sprinboard by X-Pac and the crowd boos while he celebrates. X-Pac's got the sideheadlock on and this gives the crowd plenty of time to tell him he sucks.

Right hands by Kidman, sleeper by X-Pac. Now Kidman has the sleeper on, countered with a suplex. He's going up top, top rope and misses!

Elbow to the face and Kidman with a powerbomb. Punches in the corner and X-Pac uses the ropes after a powerbomb. XPac going for a powerbomb and Kidman counters. Kickout.

Kidman jumps into an X-Factor from up top and he just kicked out. Boot in the corner and here come the Bronco Buster and Kidman counters with a boot to the balls. Shooting star press AND KIDMAN GETS THE BIGGEST REACTION OF THE NIGHT!

WCW/ECW crew are with DDP getting pumped up right around now. Stacey and Torrie are looking hot.

Raven Vs. William Regal

The crowd sounds got muted for some reason. Regal gets the early upper hand with a ton of strikes. Raven is shoved back down and a double arm suplex by Regal early on. The brawl moves to the outside and quickly heads back to the ring,

Raven gets knocked around and Regal is tossed out of the ring. Side russian legsweep has both men hit the barricades. Regal crashes into the corner and regal kicks out. Snapmare and a reverse chinlock from Raven. Suplex by Regal and Raven jumps in to knock him down.

Big knee by Regal and JR plays up the crowd supporting Regal due to the war. Even though it didn't stop them from booing X-Pac.

Running Bulldog by Raven and Regal is surviving an onslaught. Irish Whip by Regal and a european uppercut. Suplex by Regal and a kickout by Raven. HERE'S TAZZ! He just suplexed Regal and Raven uses the Raven effect. Victory for ECW!

Stasiak attacks from behind and the cheap tactics give team WCW the win. But Big Show decides to beat on everyone afterwards.

Shane's with Booker T and they're getting pumped up. Regal's with Tajiri ranting and I think because of his thick accent they forgot to censor a couple of his swear words.

Tazz Vs. Tajiri

JR points out that Tazz is the most dominant ECW guy ever, he could only ever make the midcard. Tajiri runs in quickly and there's a spinning heel kick and he's flipping all over the place.

MIST! KICK TO THE FACE AND TAJIRI PICKS UP THE WIN.

Jeff is warming up and Matt's telling him to be wary, Van Dam comes out of nowhere with a chair and takes out Matt Hardy.

Hardcore will not be taking part in the war, he's signing autographs and rips off a WCW shirt some dude was wearing.

E-C-DUB! E-C-DUB! E-C-DUB! Van Dam's starting to get a really great reaction from the crowd. Van Dam off the apron and there's a knockout kick on Jeff.

Cover on the outside and Jeff kicks out. RVD takes a bow to the crowd and they love him even more. POWERBOMB by Jeff. Ladder's out.

Jeff climbs it to the top and RVD's up into the ring and he's shaking the ladder and he pushes it to the outside. RVD grabs a chair and Jeff's still grounded.

RVD is our new champion!

Vince is with Kurt and what the hell, goofy Kurt has vanished, we've now got super serious mode Kurt.

Video package for Torrie and Stacy against Trish and Lita. The WWF women aren't happy with each other.

BRA AND PANTIES MATCH:

SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: Mick Foley

Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler Vs. Trish Stratus and Lita

Great idea by Foley to insert himself into this match. The WCW girls are getting really close to Foley. Lita's getting a really nice reaction.

Slaps from WCW and takedowns from WWF. Lita gets restrained, Trish gets kicked, dropkicked as well by Torrie. Slap to the face and Trish turns it around and dishes out a clothesline.

Suplex by Trish and Stacy runs in for the save. Double clothesline and the WCW girls want no part of Lita. Stacy loses her shirt first and Lita's working down low. Stacy runs to the outside and Lita runs into a Torrie stomp.

Double team by the blondes has Lita losing her shirt. Lita using her shirt as a weapon. Torrie sidesteps Trish and there's some stomping on the hair and Trish uses a nice maneuver to remove the bottom half and Lita and Trish combine to remove everything.

Stacy loses her pants.

Team WCW is getting together and getting pumped up, Vince is coming to motivate Austin and Stone Cold's gone nuts.

Video package which showcases the invasion. Plenty of turns happening. Vince wanted the old Stone Cold but Austin doesn't want to go back.

Kurt's pretty much the real WWF hero. Wait did they really get Freddie Blasie in there?

So far, the only Star of the show I disagree with for 2001 is WMX-7, but that's just my love for TLC 2 talking.

Several title changes and alignments occur between InVasion and SummerSlam, starting with the second-biggest title in the company, the WCW World Heavyweight title. In his hometown of Pittsburgh, Kurt Angle makes Booker T tap to the ankle lock to win the WCW belt, but loses it back to Booker T four days later (making Booker T a FIVE TIME, FIVE TIME DUBYA SEE DUBYA CHAMPION!).

For no true reason whatsoever, Stephanie and Booker T award the United States Championship to Kanyon. With help from a few Alliance members, Lance Storm manages to defeat Albert for his first (and only) singles title in the WWF. Test turns heel and helps DDP and Kanyon win the WWF Tag titles from the APA. Jeff Hardy interferes in a Hardcore title match between RVD and Kurt Angle to win back the Hardcore title, setting up another RVD/Jeff match at SummerSlam.

X-Pac beats Kidman to become the first man to hold both the Light Heavyweight and the Cruiserweight titles at the same time. This is short-lived, as Tajiri beats X-Pac to win the Light Heavyweight title a week later! Finally, to close off this time period, Undertaker and Kane win the WCW Tag Team titles from Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire.

Big announcements concerning alignments
WWF gains: The Rock (from suspension)
Alliance gains: Test (from WWF), Ivory (from WWF)

WWF World: Steve Austin
Intercontinental: Lance Storm
Tag Team: DDP and Kanyon
European: Matt Hardy
Hardcore: Jeff Hardy
Light Heavyweight: Tajiri

WCW World: Booker T
United States: Kanyon
WCW Tag Team: Undertaker and Kane
Cruiserweight: X-Pac

I'm still confused as to why they didn't just move X-Pac over to the Alliance, especially considering that as the angle progressed ANY heel turn by a WWF guy, even if it had nothing to do with the war, meant a move to the Alliance.

Backlash 2001

Backlash is still going with that swinging hook theme.

Spike's a real part of the Dudley Boyz now. Albert's joined Justin Credible in the X-Pac alliance.

Dudley Boyz vs. X-Factor

Spike leaps from the top to step on Albert, this guy looks so tiny. He tries a bulldog and just gets tossed aside.

This crowd really hates X-Pac. He and Justin are keeping D-Von on the ground. Albert with a double underhook suplex that he holds up in the air for a while.

Bubba finally hot tagged, Albert accidentally kills his teammate. D-VON GET THE TABLES. Albert has a good big boot to stop tables, Bubba takes double superkicks and X Factor wins.

Dudleys give X-Pac a 3D through a table after the match.

Some "royalty" is here to watch tonight. Angle gives a speech about merit.

Hey Raven's getting more of a pop than his last PPV.

Rhyno vs. Raven

Drop toe hold onto a stop sign at the start, excellent. Rhyno kicks a trash can into Raven and they're outside now. Raven's in a chair, Rhyno charges off the stairs and Raven moves! Rhyno flops through the chair.

Raven's getting smacked in the head with a bunch of stuff here. Rhyno tosses the shopping cart in the ring, those things aren't light. Drop toe hold onto the cart. Rhyno gets hit with some signs and bulldogged, only a two count.

Trash can into Rhyno's face and he drops the cart on himself! Rhyno charges and Raven ducks, Rhyno puts himself through the cart! What creative use of the cart. Rhyno hits a spear and he wins.

Shane reads a story, his version of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Haha, I wanna know who on earth this is dressed as the Duchess of Queensberry. The rules for the upcoming match are unknown.

Duchess of Queensberry rules: William Regal vs. Chris Jericho

Jericho gets thrown out but catches himself on the apron so he can dropkick Regal. Now a missile dropkick misses. Regal gets in some kicks and takes the time to wave at fans, what a nice guy.

There's been a bunch of chops this match, lots of WOOOOOs. They make Regal's pale skin so red. Lionsault and the bell rings. Round 1's time is over.

The Regal stretch is put on. Jericho grabs the rope. Now he turns a suplex into a rollup but he abandons the cover to try the walls of Jericho. Regal taps out! But you can't win by submission.

Jericho goes to confront the Duchess, Regal gets her scepter and hits Jericho. No DQs in this too.

Double underhook suplex doesn't get Jericho pinned and he hits an enzuigiri. Low blow and Regal falls on the Duchess, whoops. Jericho pulls the duchess in and walls of Jericho! But Regal's got a chair, he uses it and gets the pin. The duchess is losing her wig.

Kurt Angle claims Chicago is full of fat people.

30 minute submission match: Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit

Lots of grappling and counter grappling as they fight on the mat. The announcers are hyping the heck out of ankle lock and crossface, do these guys even have any other submission moves.

Now they're still grappling outside, Angle taps to the crippler crossface but it doesn't count for being outside.

Angle with a leg lock, Benoit's tapping out already? Angle's got 1.

Benoit wants a crossface now, turns it into some roll and an armbar, Angle taps to this and it's tied.

Ref keeps breaking Benoit's moves as Angle reaches the ropes, Benoit pushes the ref down and Angle hits Benoit with a chair. Ankle lock for Angle and Benoit has to tap. Angle grabs Benoit right away, puts on the crippler crossface, and another tap out, 3-1 Angle.

Benoit is getting tossed around outside the ring. Here's another ankle lock but it's out of the ring. Here's an ab stretcher, Benoit counters into his cross armbreaker again but Angle gets the ropes before tapping. Sharpshooter Benoit! Crowd always pops for this move. Boston crab and Angle has to tap here.

Angle's trying to run outside the ring to kill time, he's finally tracked down. Benoit finally puts on something, the ankle lock. Angle gets the ropes here. Now Angle gets on a chinlock for a full minute or two.

A pair of belly to belly suplexes from Angle. Angle blocks a suplex and gets the ankle lock, Benoit's blocked it and he puts on the ankle lock, tied at 3!

30 seconds left, Angle gets on two ankle locks and Benoit reaches the ropes. Another ankle lock, Benoit's not tapping and the bell rings. Sudden death time, and Benoit is still hurt. Angle's got some crucifix hold on, Benoit rolls and gets the crossface, Angle taps out.

Last man standing: Big Show vs. Shane McMahon

lol Shane botches grabbing a chair. Smooth. Shane crawls under the ring and he's got a stick. Big Show gets a clothesline, but takes a bunch of chair shots.

What is that smell, of course it's chloroform. Vince runs out and hits Shane with a chair, so both guys are down.

They're both up now, Big Show is immune to chemicals. Big Show pulls Shane up on an 8 count and chokeslams him just for more pain. Another broken count, Test boots Big Show in the face. JR points out Test is a bachelor a couple times as he battles Big Show near the entrance.

Shane's back up, Big Show's got a pipe. Shane's climbing the structure, this sure looks familiar. Test stops Big Show from chasing, Shane jumps for a leg drop on Big Show from 30 feet up. What the hell is Test doing, he's playing with the camera, now he picks up Shane and Big show doesn't get up.

Shane sure puts himself through some crazy spots sometimes. Luckily there was an air matress under all that wood.

HHH is Vince's only son. Awww.

Oh hey here comes.. wait what there's only one Hardy.

It's amazing how bland Christian seemed when him and Edge first appeared and how great his gimmick is now.

Triple threat: Matt Hardy vs. Christian vs. Eddie Guerrero

Both guys hate Matt, so they toss him out to fight themselves. Guerrero with a nice hurricanrana. Matt counters a double team into a rollup. Sunset flip and Guerrero is tangled in the ropes somehow.

Backbody drop on Matt, wait he bounces off the rope and DDTs Christian. Off comes the shirt, lots of high pitched screams.

Guerrero tries a hurricanrana from the top, Christian holds Matt up. Christian falls on Guerrero twice and that lets Matt leg drop. Edge runs out and spears Matt.

Jeff's here too to fight Edge. Nice hat Jeff. Jeff hits a swanton, Matt with a twist of fate and Christian gets pinned.

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN HAS SOLD HIS SOUL TO SATAN

HHH & Steve Austin vs. Kane & Undertaker

Some guy in the second row of the crowd just ripped his shirt off and is waving his arms around, oh god.

Austin and HHH stall all the time they can out of the ring but get chased down. Kane's got an arm injury I guess.

Now Austin's begging for taker to stop, it's the first time Austin's begged for anything. Not everything is right with the brothers, they argue over who tags. Taker walks the ropes on HHH. And now on Austin too.

Undertaker wants to hit the last ride but gets double teamed. Taker pulls out a DDT from nowhere. He can't make the tag, Kane's arm is hurt. Thesz press and the crowd still cheers. Everyone clothesline everyone.

Kane tags himself in. Flying clothesline. Kane's throwing out elbows and big boots all day. Oh no his arm injury is acting up and a chair to the arm. Kane's stuck in this armbar for forever. Now he's stuck in the ring for forever.

Whoops bad spot here, Austin tags HHH, runs into Kane's clothesline but doesn't sell at all, then Austin stays in the ring before tagging HHH again.

Pedigree on Kane and Austin is tagged in to cover. Taker breaks it and chokeslams Austin. Earl Hebner pushes Stephanie down. Kane hits an enzuigiri so he can tag. Oh, but ref bump, he doesn't see the tag. I also wrote that sentence before that spot even happened, too obvious in tag matches these days.

HHH gets the last ride, Hebner still wants Taker to leave the ring. Another ref bump, stunner on Kane. Taker and Austin battle far out of the ring, Kane big boots HHH then Stephanie. Vince gives a sledgehammer to HHH and Kane's down. HHH gets the pin.

I got kind of excited for that main event before it but man was that match disappointing.

Star of the PPV: Chris Benoit

Botch of the PPV: Austin/HHH screwing up a tag followed by an immediate clothesline botch
