I'm still confused as to why they didn't just move X-Pac over to the Alliance, especially considering that as the angle progressed ANY heel turn by a WWF guy, even if it had nothing to do with the war, meant a move to the Alliance.

Same here. But then again, it eventually got to the point where there was 1 oddball on each side.

WWF: Everyone but X-Pac was a face
Alliance: Everyone but RVD was a heel

Insurrextion 2001

Time for another UK PPV! All the matches are being changed. It's Linda's fault.

TURN IT UP

Grandmaster Sexay vs. Eddie Guerrero

Eddie gets the sunglasses, he tosses them to some lucky fan in the crowd. Grandmaster with a baseball slide and he does some dancing. Guerrero hits back and does a bunch of dancing too.

Power bomb from Grandmaster, he almost crushes himself during it. Missed leg drop, missed run, and Guerrero gets a rollup. He uses the ropes for leverage and gets a three count but Grandmaster's should wasn't even down until 2.

I'm sure glad we always get to see Stephanie and HHH talking and revealing their thoughts.

Terri's gonna wrestle in a 6 person tag match? Oh, she just wants a normal tag match.

Radicalz vs. Hardcore & Crash Holly

Molly tosses around Terri a bit and her skirt almost flies off. Crash ends up with Malenko in a bit, both former light heavyweight champs.

Michael Cole's called Saturn a machine twice now. Hardcore is stuck in before Crash comes in on a hot tag. He hits some hurricanranas before everyone's in. Terri and Molly come together again and Saturn hits the family gradunzel to win.

Another Regal segment already, gotta pump up the only british guy on the card.

This Queen's Cup looks like a Stanley Cup ripoff.

Test got hurt from Big Show the other day, their match isn't gonna happen. Big Show challenges Test anyway.

Big Show vs. Test

It's a good thing Test took his shirt off so we could see his taped ribs. Sidewalk slam and Test writhes around in pain. Reverse DDT and Test thought it was gonna be a suplex but gets in position.

Three refs are here to save Test and end this, Big Show taunts the crowd and his voice cracks. Nobody can beat him 1 on 1.

WAIT THIS MUSIC Bradshaw is here! A bell rings!

Big Show vs. Bradshaw

Test is on the ground with doctors, Big Show beating up Bradshaw with sidewalk slams and chops and body slams. Chokeslam coming, Bradshaw grabs the ropes though. Man, Big Show is slow.

Big Show's got a chair and wants to hit Test, Test with a boot, Bradshaw with a clothesline and beats Big Show. They took an awful idea for a match, and gave it a twist to potentially be good, and then booked it all wrong.

Holy christ this X Factor theme is awful.

Four team tag match: Edge & Christian vs. X Factor vs. Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz

Hardys are in there for a while, first taking on the Canadians, then hitting some acrobatic moves to X-Pac. Bronco Buster is met with boos.

Jeff's running around hitting everyone, he clotheslines Edge and Christian, one of them should be tagged in now. Double team wait everyone's in the ring. Albert screws things up for his team, Swanton and X Factor is out. Quick unprettier, and Hardys are gone too.

Edge & Christian keep distracting the ref to work up heat for the hot tag. Nice drop toe hold into leg lock. Here's the hot tag, slam, wazzup, get the tables. Edge & Christian try to baseball slide the table and it was a setup.

RHYNO OUT OF NOWHERE GORE OUT OF NOWHERE Bubba is dead and Edge pins to win. Spike runs out and Rhyno gets the 3D through the table.

Charity dinner ends with Michael Cole being slapped.

Kurt Angle's medals were stolen, that's the worst thing in the world for him.

Oh here's Right to Censor. Naked girls on page 3? They don't like that. Steven Richards is canceling the women's battle royal. Jacqueline, Trish, and Lita are brought out to be made an example of. Were there even any other women that would've been in this match?

And these three girls jump Ivory and take her clothing. Steven Richards is pissed. He suffers the same fate.

Angle exposes Benoit as a loser. Benoit stole the medal.

Two out of three falls: Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle

Michael Cole ruins a butt joke trying to make an England joke, and everyone is less funny for it.

Heyman says there's a 6 pound difference between 237 and 229. Holy math.

Angle keeps escaping from near crossfaces and rolling out of the ring. The guys trade belly to belly suplexes, and here's some hard chops. Benoit with a series of three snap suplexes, and now a series of three german suplexes.

Flying headbutt, Benoit with the first fall.

A few belly to back suplexes from Angle now, he keeps trying to cover. Benoit with a small package! Two count.

Angle tries the olympic slam, Cole calls it the Angle slam, has it been renamed? Benoit misses a diving headbutt, Angle's lip is bleeding. Crossface, Angle rolls out and Benoit with the rollup and he wins! 2-0, what, since when does that happen in 2 out of 3 falls?

Benoit's got the medal in his pants and he puts it on. Bet that thing feels great.

Debra is sassy.

How many times are we gonna see this Jericho/Regal rivalry recap?

Wow this Queen's Cup really is a blatant Stanley Cup replica.

Queen's Cup Match: William Regal vs. Chris Jericho

These guys are trading some holds early. Heyman rants about fans who scream WOOOOO during the chops. Walls of Jericho being setup but Regal slows the pace way down.

Jericho goes for a dropkick, Regal misses a catch. Suplex and Jericho almost falls on the top of his head. Gotta wave to the fans.

Holy crap Regal teeters from that sunset flip for the longest time ever. Jericho gets pushed into the ropes, his arms fail to tie up so he just sits there until Regal ties him up.

Regal going with all these technical holds for rests. And wow, check that leg bruise, that thing takes up half his leg. Also some guy in the crowd has a mask on, I wonder whose it is. Mil Marascas?

Jericho fights back, enzuigiri. Here's that missile dropkick. Bulldog, lionsault hits the knees. Jericho kicks out of the cover, Regal gets rolled and into walls of Jericho, he taps out.

I bet the Canadian Jericho always wanted to hold high the Stanley Cup.

Regal grabs the trophy and beats up Jericho with it, whoops it snaps in half.

Handicap match: HHH & Steven Austin vs. Undertaker

Am I hearing this right? Only Austin's belt is on the line. I bet Undertaker beats HHH then. Taker's got a chair and there is a lengthy stand off early.

HHH and Undertaker fighting on the ramp, Austin took a drop there and has been down. Table is cleared, but back to the ring.

Finally Austin and HHH hanging in the corner and tagging. Only took half the match. Thesz press and Taker wants a chokeslam but HHH stops him. Austin hits Taker with a chair while Stephanie distracts, two count still.

Long sleeper from HHH and oh that's Stephanie's face all right. Taker fights back until he gets suplexed. Now he's fighting back again. Everyone goes out of the ring. HHH chokeslammed through the table.

Austin hits a low blow but Taker quickly turns and chokeslams him. Two count and HHH stops it.

Undertaker's face is bleeding. Here comes Vince. He swings a chair and hits HHH. Vince chokeslam, HHH chokeslam, Undertaker wins but gets no belts. He chokeslams Austin too.

Star of the PPV: The Undertaker. Tempted to pick Benoit, because who wins 2-0, but the crowd wasn't as into him.

Botch of the PPV: Chris Jericho missing a tie up in the ropes and he waits there until Regal can run up and tie him.

Summerslam 2001

The bodies are hitting the floor tonight. We got ourselves a music video which we can watch from the comfort of an insane asylum.

Plenty of jumping around by Stone Cold, Booker T, RVD, Angle and Undertaker. Pau Heyman joins the announce table.

Lance Storm comes out and he wants to be serious for a second here.

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH:

Lance Storm (c) Vs Edge

Elbow tie up and Storm goes for the waistlock, Edge reverses it. A few more reversals and a lot of locks early on. Flapjack and a dropkick by Edge, clothesline sends Storm out of the ring.

Storm is brought down, crossbody by Edge, Lance Storm buys himself some time by dumping edge out of the ring. He brings him back in and start kicking him and trash talking to him as well. Knee to the gut and a cover.

Edge's shoulder is up quickly enough and Edge goes for a rollup. Storm with the face first suplex and here comes a series of knees to wear Edge down. Lance Storm with another kick an he's still in control and he kicks Edge's back again.

The locker room is supporting Edge and he starts to fight back. Lance misses an elbow, crucifix. Countered by Storm but another kickout from Edge. Knees to the back and a camel clutch to further weaken Edge.

Edge tries to fight back but Storm strikes him down and another pinning attempt fails. Abdominal stretch and Lance has generally been staying one step ahead of the game. Storm showing off his athleticism and he jumps RIGHT INTO A POWERSLAM.

Referee starts the count with both men down and they're back up and exchanging right hands. Backdrop by edge and a heel kick, now Storm's the one who kicks out. Jawbreaker and now Edge drives storm down and a kick by Storm to break the pin.

Powerbomb counter from Edge surprising everyone. Reversals lead to a single leg boston crab and Edge is crawling to the rope and he gets to them, NOW EDGE GETS THE HALF CRAB! Referee is distracted Christian runs in spear misses Storm and hits Edge!

Pin by storm kickout by Edge, DDT AND A NEW INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION! Edge and Christian hug.

Dudleyz and Test are with Michael Cole and Test is a blockhead. Jericho's with Lillian.

Spike Dudley and the APA VS. Test and the Dudley Boyz

They're still on about one of them being a mole. Faarooq and Bubba ray start things off and a quick 3D on Faarooq, but it doesn't count apparently. Devon knocking out Faarooq but then eats a spinebuster.

In comes Test and Faarooq's already faced all three men on the alliance. Test gets surrounded by the APA and Bradshaw's overpowering him. The Dudleyz lend a hand in the corner and now Devon's in there but he's outmaneuvered by Bradshaw and we get a DDT out of it.

Spike Dudley goes for rollups and inside craddles. Bubba hangs him to dry and Spike Dudley's in trouble. Crowd is already asking for tables and Test with a spinebuster drives Spike to the floor. The Dudleyz have taken out the tables and Test is picking up Spike, rake to the eye and Bubba brings down Spike.

The crowd's chanting for the APA and Devon misses a diving headbutt. Bradshaw and Test take a big beating, but the APA starts to take over, all hell has broken loose and Test misses the big boot, powerbomb by Bradshawm cover and Bubba pulls Bradshaw off and Spike is driven through a table.

CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL! Ref is looking at Spike, Shane with a chairshot and we've got a new winner!

Edge and Christian are congratulating each other with Team Extreme. Looks like there's a litte tension between the two brothers.

Debra's in her office and in comes Shawn Stasiak. She's talking like a country hick as usual.

WWF LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH:

WCW CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH:

Tajiri Vs. X-Pac

This is a classic title for title match and Tajiri's already posing with both belts. Things start off fairly slow but Tajiri's the one to make thefirst real moves.

X-Pac going with his classic taunting, Tajiri one ups him and the crowd still chanting about how much X-Pac sucks. Hurricanrana and a baseball slide and a springboard moonsault by Tajiri.

Tajiri's knocked down by X-Pac's kick. More kicks and X-Pac's surfboard s ugly and he messed it all up. Couple of punches by X-Pac and a powerbomb. Tajiri gets trapped in a corner and stomped on.

The Bronco buster is countered and a huge kick right in the face and more kicks to the face. Reverse Elbow and down goes X-Pac. TARANTULA! He's going up top and here's a crossbody, roll through and suddenly X-Pac is in charge.

Unique pinning combination, doesn't work out and a catapult attempt also comes up short. Kick to the face and X-Pac dives in on Tajiri to the outside. X-Factor! But X-Pac's slow to go for the pin and Tajiri counters the pin.

Albert's coming out. Kick to the face by X-Pac and Tajiri fights back, RED MIST ON ALBERT! X-Factor! X-Pac wins another title.

Perry Saturn's lost his love, he's deluded himself into loving a cow. What are they doing here? Stephanie's telling Rhyno better beat Jericho.

The video package has Jericho trashtalk Stephanie and make fun her chest. Heyman's only yelling GORE GORE GORE.

Rhyno Vs. Chris Jericho

Announcers are driving home the point that Jericho has never beaten Rhyno. This starts off with a fist fight, bad idea against Rhyno.

High crossbody and some right hands, chops now by Y2J. More high flying action. Early Walls attempt comes up short, out goes Rhyno out of the ring. Springboard dropkick and Stephanie's sneaking up on Jericho, he doesn't give an inch to her.

Dive on Rhyno, countered an both men are down and hurting. Back in the ring and Rhyno stomps, Stephanie slaps Jericho in the face.

Bodyscissors by Rhyno and it's actually working. Rhyno goin for some high impact moves and a pin that comes up short. Another submission attempt and a knee is driven into the back.

Y2J with elbows to free himself, chops and a rollup, kickout. Rhyno going for the suplex. High risk splash by Rhyno and he comes up short, both men are down.

Jericho battling back and building momentum, hard chop and a another springboard, no pin, more chops. Jericho's inching closer to a win, gets the dropkick and Stephanie distracts the referee.

Slap blocked and Jericho goes for the kiss and here's the running bulldog. Missed lionsault, goes for it a second time and this leads to a kickout!

Spinebuster drives the air out of Jericho and he's going for a Walls of Jericho of his own right in the middle of the ring.

Enziguri by Jericho and, Rhyno retaliates with a belly to belly, there's the setup AND THE GORE MISSES! JERICHO GOING FOR THE WALLS! Rhyno taps and Stephanie is stunned.

WWF HARDCORE TITLE MATCH:

HARDCORE LADDER MATCH:

Rob Van Dam Vs. Jeff Hardy

Plenty of fast paced counters and it looks exactly like the start of their previous matchup. RVD with a few kicks missed dropkick and Jeff drops the legs on him.

Another standoff between the two and Van Dam does some more taunting and Jeff sends him to the outside witth a hip toss. Springboard by Jeff Hardy and both men are found hurting.

Battling on the barricade and RVD takes the upper hand. RVD using the ladder now. RVD is suicidal. More flexibilty by Van Dam and Jeff Hardy uses that to strike him down harder.

Elbow by Van Dam and Jeff's now hanging and Vam Dam smashes into him and the crowd is in full support of Van Dam. JR points out he's the only man receiving any cheers.

Jeff is setup across the ring on top of a ladder and that's a long rolling thunder. Heel kick to knockout Jeff Hardy. Superkick and Jeff's on top of the ladder again.

Ledrop while Jeff was on top of the ladder. Plenty of kicking again and RVD takes the ladder. Jeff usin the time to go for the title. Van Dam climbs the top turnbuckle and jumps in for the save.

DDT and he's gone down and out for the time being. Huge miss from up top and here comes the five star frog splash missing the target.

Hardy's got some time to move up the ladder, Van Dam joins him and they're brawling up top and SUPLEX FROM THE TOP! Right hand after right hand, sunset flip from up top ends up being more of a powerbomb.

Jeff's got the belt, but Van Dam removes the ladder. Jeff's hanging from up top and Van Dam misses from the top turnbuckle Jeff can't hold on and drops on him. Jeff goes back to climbing the ladder.

RVD pushes down the ladder and he's now climbing the ladder and he's got his hands on it and WE'VE GOT A NEW HARDCORE CHAMPION.

Shane's with Booker T, this leads to a Book end pun. Kane and The Undertaker are with ugly wife.

Rock's backstage and Stasiak dies again.

Video package for the big clash between Austin and Angle. Oh, this is basically Austin not liking Angle being buddies with Vince.

Stone Cold's beating up everyone in his own camp. Both men are looking legit.

WWF WORLD TITLE MATCH:

Kurt Angle Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (c)

Austin's theme has changed to generic rock music. Slugfest to start things off, fight's not even reached the ring and the bell hasn't even sounded.

There's the bell, they're rolling on the canvas hammering at each other, both guys can wrestle a technical match, but they're not interested in that today. Austin with the chops and Angle reverses and hits the rights.

Big clothesline and a missed one. Shot to the back of the head by Austin and Angle's leg and Austin's going right to work on the ankle. fight moves to the outside and Angle's getting torched.

Right hand exchanges and austin bails himself out of trouble by dumping Angle to the outside. Pair of suplexes by Austin leads to a nearfall.

Another suplex attempt countered and Austin's caught in Angle's suplex pace. Triples and Austin fights back with elbows, but here's a fourth. There's another one! Stone Cold hits the ropes.

Number six comes straight and the seventh one has rattled Austin. Angle going for the kill, cheap shot by Austin and a drop toe hold sends Kurt into the post.

Hard chops by Austin on the top turnbuckle, Angle pushes Austin away and Austin's right back in there. SUPERPLEX! Austin's already bleeding from the head and I don't think he bladed there.

STUNNER OUT OF NOWHERE! YET ANGLE KICKED OUT! No one can believe it, not even Heyman, STUNNER ANGLE FALLSS TO THE OUTSIDE! Austin needs the pinfall but Angle's not in the ring. So he's beating on him some more on the outside to soften him up.

Angle's been busted open and again the head bounces off the steel. Austin keeping up with the punishment. Austin brings him back to the ring for a formality pin, BUT ANGLE KICKED OUT! Brawl goes to the outside and Angle sends Austin over the barricade.

An angry Austin suplexes Angle over the barricade, back to the outside they go and the Bionic Redneck is readjusting his braces. ANGLE HAS THE ANKLE LOCK ON AUSTIN! HE'S ALL BLOODY AND HEBNER FORCES HIM TO LET GO!

Angle's snapped and his pulling Austin into the ring AND AUSTIN REACHES THE ROPES. SUPLEX ON THE FLOOR! DEVASTATING SUPLEX! Every suplex ups the ante. THE MOONSAULT! Arm over AND AUSTIN KICKS OUT!

Cobra Clutch by the Ringmaster, Angle's fading and he's trying to get to the ropes. Angle runs up the turnbuckle to pin Austin but fails and the Cobra Clutch is still on. Angle using the ropes as leverage to dump Austin out of the ring.

STUNNER! FOR A THIRD TIME! HOW THE HELL IS ANGLE KICKING OUT OF THESE! AUSTIN GOING FOR ANOTHER, COUNTERED INTO THE ANGLE SLAM! KICKOUT! These guys are kicking out of everything. Austin decides to just knock out Hebner.

DDT by Angle and here comes another referee and Austin kicks out just in time. Low blow by Austin and a stunner on the referee. Austin takes the WWF title and here's Timmy White and he gets knocked out by the belt. ANGLE SLAM AND HERE COMES ANOTHER REFEREE!

BUT IT'S A WCW ONE! Nick Patrick DQs Austin. Angle has gone nuts and decided to give Nick Patrick the Ankle Lock.

Video Package, FINALLY THE ROCK HAS COME BACK to the WWF. He's not doing any of this for Vince, he's just doing it for the people. Rock has no idea who Booker T is.

He's the WCW champion sucka.

CAN YOU DIG IT SUCKA

Sidestep and Booker T goes over the top. Booker T meets a fair chunk of the table and Rock goes for a blatent low blow. Crowd surfing ends with a big clothesline from Booker T.

Booker T won the crowd brawl and Rock's thrown back into the outside of the ring. Shane's removing padding off the turnbuckle and Rock's hit the barricade again.

Rock is knocked down again and Booker T goes for a knee. Booker's stretch is over, Rock going for the sharpshooter, Shane distracts the ref. Rock's knocked out by a kick from Booker.

Damn straight on SummerSlam's star, Kurt Angle was a ****ing boss.

A few title changes between SummerSlam and Unforgiven, starting with Matt Hardy's European championship reign coming to an end, courtesy of Shane "Hurricane" Helms and his new Green-Lantern ripoff gimmick! The Hardcore title changes hands twice, first when Kurt Angle makes RVD tap out, but a minute later (after Austin tosses Angle off the stage), RVD is able to win back the belt.

With one week left before Unforgiven, KroniK make their WWF debut and help the Dudley Boyz win the WWF Tag Team titles from Undertaker and Kane. Finally, Tajiri is able to win the United States Championship from Chris Kanyon!

Alignment/Alliance shifts
Christian - Turns heel, but stays in WWF for now
Terri Runnels - Gets dumped by Saturn (in favor for a mop), so joins the Alliance and begins working with Raven
Steven Richards - Makes first appearance since Right to Censor ended in Spring 2001, joins the Alliance in an attempt to get revenge on the Undertaker for destroying RTC.
Bryan Adams and Brian Clark (KroniK) - Debuted as former WCW stars, working with Steven Richards

WWF World: Steve Austin
Intercontinental: Edge
WWF Tag Team: Dudley Boyz
European: The Hurricane
Hardcore: Rob Van Dam
Light Heavyweight: X-Pac

WCW World: The Rock
United States: Tajiri
WCW Tag Team: Undertaker and Kane
Cruiserweight: X-Pac

I have to say, they are doing an OUTSTANDING job at making WCW look like a bunch of losers who don't deserve a paycheck and should prolly just go die in a fire because it'll be less painful that way. The squash on DDP here was pretty much offensively bad.

You're in the middle of a supposed war, guys like Too Cool are pretty much being phased out from PPV matches, but yeah you can have comedy ****** characters if they're on team WCW, what a total lump of garbage treatment.

WWF would prolly have killed back in the day to have DDP because of his connections to Karl Malone and now he's canon fodder for ugly wife, man this PPV's first 90 mins were just depressing.

To top it all off, DDP jobs to Sara herself 24 hours after SummerSlam (courtesy of Taker/Kane interference in a No DQ match)! This is the last time we see DDP for two months.

To be fair though, DDP's career started hitting the tubes shortly after his first world title, as WCW booked him horribly as world champion. Here's DDP's runs as World Champion...

- Wins against Scott Steiner after interference from Kimberly
- Wins clean against Stevie Ray
- Match with Goldberg ends in a No Contest due to Nash interference
- Loses clean to Sting (Flair immediately books Sting vs. Goldberg @ Slamboree, completely ignoring DDP's rematch clause)
- Same night as Sting's title win, Nash reminds Flair that he had a title shot @ Slamboree, and challenges Sting/Goldy/DDP to a 4-way title match. DDP wins the belt back the same night he lost it.
- Wins against Bam Bam Bigelow after interference from Randy Savage
- Wins against Ric Flair after interference from Randy Savage
- Match with Kevin Nash ends in DQ after (you guessed it!) interference from Randy Savage. Bischoff restarts the match as No DQ and bans Savage from ringside. Nash wins title clean.

DDP would spend 11 months not being World champion, feuding with the likes of Benoit, Saturn, Ric and David Flair, Buff Bagwell, Kidman, Goldberg, and maybe a few others. He finally beats Jeff Jarrett in a cage match with help from Kanyon to become 3-time World Champion...

...only to job the belt to his tag team partner the next night. Who is David Arquette. And DDP is perfectly happy post-match, despite the fact that he just lost the world title to a bad actor.

In short, the magnum opus of DDP's career was his match with Goldberg at Halloween Havoc in 1998. Or hell, the ENTIRE year for 1998 (and 97). His feuds with Randy Savage and Raven were classics.

guys like Too Cool are pretty much being phased out from PPV matches

To be fair in this situation, Scotty 2 Hotty was too busy jobbing it up on Heat, Grandmasta Sexay was fired after getting caught smuggling across the Canadian border, and Rikishi was injured during the entire Alliance angle.

But yeah, Vince pretty much made WCW look like total clowns; maybe that's the real reason why many other (bigger) WCW stars laid low during the InVasion.

You can almost look at the entire Invasion historically as just a vehicle to introduce Booker T and RVD. <_<

As I was telling voltch on AIM earlier, you can basically look at the X-Pac vs. Tajiri match in hindsight as the LHW/CW unification match, since it's basically the end of the Light Heavyweight Title.

Judgment Day 2001

Here's some crazy old man ranting on the same set where Akeem was born.

William Regal vs. Rikishi

Oh man Rikishi has the Too Cool theme again, none of that Phat Man heel theme.

Almost a stinkface at the start and the crowd chants "Regal sucks". Sunset flip failure, but Regal is smart and moves.

Rikishi with a legdrop and charge and now a stinkface. Regal can sell that better than anyone. Greatest face.

Superkick, Regal's face is bleeding. Rikishi runs into the post and his shoulder is hurt, neckbreaker and Regal wins.

Edge and Christian want to win the belts to get into the hall of fame. Vince is concerned with the sanctity of marriage and HHH calls him out.

Angle and Benoit again! First fall is pinfall only, second is submission only, and third is a ladder match.

Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit

Angle's doing Benoit's three suplex spot, Now he tries the headbutt and misses. Benoit with an Olympic slam and he's got a pin?!

Submissions only: Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit

Angle's throwing Benoit on both tables. "The spanish guys are over there!" shouts Heyman.

Both guys going for ankle locks, Benoit wants the crossface but Angle is right by the ropes. Here's some belly to belly suplexes from Angle and he escapes another crossface.

Boston crab by Benoit, almost lifted into walls of Jericho. Now a figure four! Angle escapes hold after hold with the ropes. I hear some fan being picked up on the mic making a pouting noise to taunt Angle.

Olympic slam, guess it is called the Angle slam now. Ankle lock on after and Benoit taps.

Ladder match: Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit

The ref takes forever to hang the medals and Angle just stands next to him watching. He sure does want those medals.

Angle grabs a ladder from under the ring, it's a little tiny ladder. Ladder's pushed over and now Angle is tossed into some very happy fans.

A charge and toss of the ladder, Benoit ducks and the ladder flies into the aisleway. Benoit gets the ladder and gets some hits on Angle now. Low blow on Benoit knocks him off the ladder.

slingshot into the ladder! And now Angle is whipped at it again, he leaps onto the ladder and he kind of climbs but he's pulled down. Benoit run into the ladder now, and a suplex onto it, ouch. And Benoit pulls down the end to pop Angle in the face with the ladder. Good stuff.

Benoit's putting the ladder on Angle. "Other way, other way." Oh, he sets it up different so he can climb it. Angle pushes the ladder off his chest.

Crippler crossface is on! Angle's tapping, but this doesn't count. Edge and Christian run out to fight Benoit. Angle's able to climb up during the distraction, he gets the medals.

Undertaker wants the main event no holds barred.

Here's Light Heavyweight champ Jerry Lynn in WWF New York. Hey Jerry, how's it feel to be left off another PPV?

Kane wants to be intercontinental champ now. This belt sure has rocketed in standing.

Test vs. Big Show vs. Rhyno

I like how they never mention events at UK PPVs when recapping these feuds.

"Rhyno's having a pretty good match with these steps out here." Yeah, he's struggling to move them. Everyone quickly out of the ring, everyone into the crowd now. And off to backstage.

Test is strangling Big Show with a velvet rope, must feel nice and soft around his neck. Rhyno cracks open some drywall and is almost pinned vertically. I guess those work in hardcore matches, thanks Big Bossman.

Big Show is knocked onto some pallets as Rhyno and Test head away alone. They're back to the ring and Rhyno's getting stuff from under the ring.

DDT onto a trash can lid. Big Show is finally back to chokeslam Rhyno. Test hits a superkick. Gore to Big Show!

Test uses a fire extinguisher to escape a chokeslam and takes down Big Show with it. Test is getting a lot of 2 counts.

Rhyno tosses Big Show a trash can and gores him through the can! Gore! Gore! Gore! Rhyno wins!

Lita's doing the splits and Eddie wants to teach her how to beat Chyna.

Regal's afraid to tell Austin it's no holds barred. Austin's fine with it. Regal segments are good stuff.

Lita and Chyna were two girls with no competition.

Lita vs. Chyna

Chyna wtf are you wearing, why is there fur on the crotch of her pants

Aww they hug before the match. Too much friendly sportsmanship here. Chyna finally makes the heel move to pull down Lita from the ground. Chyna is doing lots of clotheslines.

Now Chyna's starting to come out of her top, JR points out that "the crowd's really getting into it."

Chyna's got Lita down, pulls up after a 2 count. Lita puts on an armbreaker. Eddie Guerrero is standing out here now.

Lita counters a power bomb, she has to be the slowest person running off of ropes. Now there's a pwoer bomb, Chyna wins. Eddie makes an Eddie face. Lita and Chyna are still friends.

Edge and Christian succeeded at "Operation never hear Kurt b**** about his medals again." Haha.

This chain match idea sounds like a strap match but with more pain.

Chain match: HHH vs. Kane

Kane is attacked before the chain is even on, HHH going for that arm, and some chair shots too. Finally, the chain's on.

HHH whips Kane into the stairs and starts hitting that cast with the chain. He grabs a chair and Kane pulls the chain to get HHH to hit himself. HHH's face is already busted open.

Chain wrapped around HHH's face! Gotta apply pressure, stop that bleeding.

Kane's choking HHH with the chain. A couple pulls later and they're evenly paced and going into the crowd. lol this bleached hair guy marking out so hard.

Almost a pedigree, Kane powers out. Pedigree reversals always look too forced to me, people have to undo the double underhook then attack back.

Chokeslam, HHH has to be done. Out comes Steve Austin! Kane knocks him out of the ring and HHH with a low blow. Austin with a chair, HHH gets hit! Kane with a cover. Kane is so ecstatic to wave this belt around.

Haha Jericho is sticking it to Coach.

Aww yeah that badass music.

APA vs. Radicalz

Faarooq is getting double teamed a bunch. Terri's shirt doesn't cover very much.

Everyone in now, Saturn runs right into a spinebuster and he's dead. APA moves on.

APA vs. Dudley Boyz

Faarooq with a powerslam and he wants a tag. Wait no he doesn't, it's get the ref to look away time. He takes some elbows then tags.

Bradshaw's getting beat up and the crowd really wants tables. Everyone in the ring, Bradshaw double teamed, Faarooq wassup, GET THE TABLES. Man, and I thought Scotty's worm segment every PPV was a really long repeated bit.

Out comes Crash and Hardcore Holly, D-Von through a table and Bubba is clotheslined so Bradshaw can pin. Man, that table throw D-Von took looked brutal.

APA vs. X Factor

Oh jesus lord please tell me APA wins again.

JR mocking Justin Credible and ECW, "I'm sure he was an ECW champ at some point too."

Bradshaw's taking on two guys at once until Albert runs in too with a big boot. Heyman throws his second Jewish phrase this PPV, I wonder if he's Jewish.

"X-Pac sucks" chant is in full swing. Bradshaw with a big boot and Albert interferes so X-Pac can get a pin. This means we get another match of X Factor, boo.

X Factor vs. Hardy Boys

X Factor quickly working the triple team and X-Pac hits the bronco buster on Jeff.

Matt's tagged in, double team on X-Pac. Jeff hits the swanton bomb and Albert interferes again. Jeff leaps over the ref to take out Albert, wow. Justin with a superkick and X Factor wins again, wtf.

X Factor vs. Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit

Oh wow Benoit's pulling double duty tonight. Or I guess even more, this match will be his fourth decision.

Albert is tossing around Jericho immediately, leaving Benoit in trouble alone. X-Pac with a bunch of showboating and he misses a bronco buster. Some chops, WOOOO, missile dropkick.

Oh no ref bump, this gives Albert free reign. Jericho is double superkicked, but kicks out when there's finally a cover. Albert gets suplexed, Justin suplexed onto him. Crossface and Walls of Jericho at the same time! Everyone taps!

Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit vs. Edge & Christian

Oh hey, we got four Canadians in the ring now. Well, mostly two at a time as Jericho is stuck in ther for a while. He finally gets a lionsault opening and falls on the knees. Edge & Christian try a double team spot and whiff.

Here comes Benoit with some suplexes and a bridge, two count. Christian thinks he has a double team and Benoit with the missile dropkick! Edge & Christian get chairs and they sell that baseball slide all day.

Conchairto coming, but Benoit puts on the crossface! Christian taps out! Benoit gets his revenge for earlier.

Recap of this Austin/Taker feud. Undertaker's driving the ambulance! Flashback to when he drove Stephanie's limo.

Vince joins commentary for this match.

No Holds Barred: Undertaker vs. Steve Austin

Taker jumps Austin during his entrance and it's all Taker. What a badass.

Walking the ropes? Forget that, Taker's just gonna walk the barricade today.

I'm spacing out watching this, why is this main event so unexciting. Both guys not selling punches well. Big boot and a two count.

Stone Cold's shoelaces come untied every match these days, what's up with that. Austin's hitting low blows and going for the legs with lengthy rest holds.

Taker wants put Austin through the announce table. What about the Spanish table?! Chokeslam through the table and Vince is running away. Taker's hit with a monitor and the fans hate Austin.

Oh apparently Taker is busted open. There's that Thesz press, Austin sits on Taker for twenty seconds and there's no count for some reason. Oh now there is and a bunch of two counts.

Austin with a sleeper but it doesn't last long. Taker gives the middle finger but is stunnered. Austin gives a bunch of chair shots. But now a chokeslam and Taker has the chair. HHH runs out, Austin and HHH getting hit with chairs all day. Vince runs in too.

Chair misses Taker, Vince gets hit. HHH with the sledgehammer to Taker. Fireworks! KANE! Kane's running out! But Austin gets the pin before Kane makes it out.

Both of Austin's accidental chair shots were really terrible, he wasn't even close to hitting the "intended" targets.

Star of the PPV: Chris Benoit

Botch of the PPV:
Austin hitting the wrong guy with a chair after the first was already clearly out of the way... twice.

Also while we're on the subject of WWF vs. WCW (both before and during InVasion), back in 1998, GamePro's website did a popularity contest between WWF and WCW superstars, in a 32-man single-elimination bracket. Here's what happened, and a few tidbits for each match...

Round 1
Steve Austin beat Roddy Piper (Match never happened, but we did get to see Piper sell a Stunner or two later down the road)
DDP defeated Edge (Match later happened on Heat in 2001, where Edge won clean)
Kane defeated Randy Savage (Never happened for real)
HHH defeated Lex Luger (Somehow never happened)
The Rock defeated Raven (Never, although I'm sure Raven could have sold a Rock Bottom like a champ)
Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart (Duh)
Mankind defeated Booker T (Mick and Booker eventually fought in a 5-man match in 07, but jobbed to Cena)
Ultimate Warrior defeated Val Venis (Never happened)
Sting defeated D'Lo Brown (Did these two ever fight in TNA? Doubt it)
Ken Shamrock defeated Scott Hall (Did these two fight in TNA as well?)
Goldberg defeated Bart Gunn (lol)
Kevin Nash defeated Vader (Pretty sure this happened, but can't confirm. JaKyL?)
Shawn Michaels defeated Perry Saturn (Never happened)
Hollywood Hogan defeated X-Pac (Pretty sure this happened in some fashion too)
The Giant defeated Dan Severn (Gotta admit, this would have been awesome in Brawl for All)
Undertaker defeated Chris Jericho (Match finally happened 1-on-1 in 2009, ended in a no contest. Jericho eventually pinned Taker in an Elimination Chamber match in 2010)

Round 2
Austin beat DDP (Again, DDP sold a Stunner once, but the only time these two fought was in the InVasion main event)
Kane beat HHH (Obvious)
The Rock beat Bret Hart (Dream match, but was never meant to be)
Ultimate Warrior beat Mankind (Depending on the stipulation, this could be watchable)
Sting beat Ken Shamrock (One of my ideal matchups in 98, I was a huge Shamrock fan)
Goldberg beat Kevin Nash (At the time fans voted, this was a month before Goldberg's first loss to Nash)
HBK beat Hogan (The two finally fought at SummerSlam 2005 for the first and only time ever)
Undertaker beat The Giant (Of course this match would happen several times starting in 1999)

Round 3
Austin beat Kane (Again, duh)
The Rock beat Ultimate Warrior (Hey, The Rock beat Hogan, surely he'd have a shot here!)
Goldberg beat Sting (Surprising that Sting never went over Goldberg)
Undertaker defeated Shawn Michaels (HIAC 1997 = Top 3 ever)

Semifinals and Championship
Austin beat The Rock (One of the best rivalries WWF's ever had)
Goldberg beat Undertaker (One of the best matches to never happen)

Austin beat Goldberg with 85% of the final vote (Their only actions against each other was when Goldberg speared Austin a month before WM20, and of course the aftermath of Goldberg/Lesnar @ WM20)

Unforgiven 2001

Jennifer Holliday starts this PPV with America the Beautiful. This is lasting long and I'm still waiting on Baseball's opening day.

Well that was pointless, now we've got a video package which isn't even a video package. Looks like Austin broke Angle's neck with a piledriver.

Sounds like we've got a tag main event. The intro package has scarred me for life.

WWF TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

FOUR WAY ELIMINATION TAG MATCH:

The Hardy Boyz Vs. Lance Storm and The Hurricane Vs. Big Show and Spike Dudley Vs. The Dudley Boyz (c)

Devon takes an early hit. Hurrican tags in and does some silly poses. Matt Hardy just mocks him and poses around. Jeff joins in and Hurricane kicks out just in time.

Bubba Ray pulls out Jeff and gets pulled off the apron. Jeff wants a tag and Lance Storm is brought in to face an incoming Spike dudley. Backbreaker and Hurricane's willing to get back in.

Spike dodges an elbow and is taking it to Hurricane. Double team by Storm and Hurricane and Spike gets brought down. Storm with the tag to Bubba and he steps on Spike. cheap shot to Big Show and there's the double flapjack on Spike.

He is the bully of the family and the cape is coming out. Hurricane is on the top turnbuckle and he just flew with the crossbody. Nearfall Spike gets out of the way and Hurricane gets knocked out by Storm. Spike gets a good shot in and tags in the Big Show and both Alliance teams are getting shredded.

All hell's broken loose and the daredevils are jumping all over the place. Spike's jumping from on top of the Big show and the crowd is cheering. Oh no, Big Show's pointing at the top turnbuckle. OH NO! Bubba saves us from Show squashing everyone.

Instead Hurricane goes for the chokeslam on Big Show, it doesn't work and Storm gets eliminated by Show. Double Suplex on him by the dudley Boyz. Spike takes on Devon and bubba occupies the Big show, Matt Hardy tags in and tries to surprise Spike.

Twist of fate countered by the neckbreaker and now there's the Twist of Fate and Spike and show are out. We're down to the Dudleyz and the Hardyz. The shirts come off and the girls are screaming. Crowd still wants tables. Backdrop on Jeff and cheap shot on Matt.

Diving Headbutt on Jeff down low. Devon goes for a wear down hold on the ground. Irish whip and Bubba ray is standing tall over Jeff Hardy. Double Axe handles and Bubba is screaming a lot of taunts. Matt tags in and goes wild on the Dudleyz and out they go and MOONSAULT off the top turnbuckle into the outside.

Devon's lying down and takes a lgdrop and Bubba pulls him off just in time. HERE'S THE 3D! BUT SWANTON BY JEFF! Matt covering, but Bubba comes in from behind to give a Bubba Bomb and THE DUDLEYZ HAVE WON!

RVD's backstage and Steph joins in to have a chat. RVD don't want help against Jericho he's the whole damn show and really bad on the mic.

Kurt's family is with Cole.

Hey look Terri's joined Raven and together they killed off Moppy.

Raven Vs. Perry Saturn

JR bringing up Perry's ECW past and there's a high elbow, springboard dropkick. Raven already walking away and Perry gets to him early on. Terri interferes a fair bit and Raven uss a droptoe hold on Perry. Thy move back to the ring.

Raven applies the Cobra Clutch and Terri is already celebrating and Saturn gts up and sends Raven into the turnbuckle but he gets dumped out of the ring.

Shoulder to keep him out of the ring, I like what I'm seeing everytime the camera goes to Terri. Raven holds on to the ropes on a pin, but Perry kicks out. Superkick knocks Raven down.

Suplex and another one, he's powering up, springboard knocks down Raven, kickout. Perry might have been thinking Rana but Raven countered. Here's a sunset flip that fails.

What is Perry trying? Catapult and a Fishermans beats Raven.

Christian's chatting with Lillian and he's feeling prtty smug. Video package showing the turn.

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH:

Christian Vs. Edge (c)

New theme for Christian, it's not really anything special. Girls going wild for Edge.

Edge on top to begin and he's banging Christian's head on the mat. Christian's already trying to pull out of this contest but Edge comes right back at him.

Catapult and Christian's laid out, Edge with an evil look is knee Christian while dragging him back. Head making a lot of contact with the middle turnbuckle and now Christian's begging for some mercy.

Edge gets tricked by this and bangs into the post. Edge's back takes another shot against the steps and Christian's mad calling his brother an SOB.

Backbreaker by Christian and some kicks to the back, crowd boos. It's all about Edge, give it up Christian nobody likes you. Christian on top of his brother but not for long.

Back to beating on Edge in the corner, even a few chops are bing used now. Edge fights back with chops of his own. Side russian legsweep. You can really feel the invasion right now.

Christian's been sent back down and Edge missed from up top but uses a grman suplex. He's got a cut under the eye. Droptoe hold and a dropkick from Christian, he could be targetting the wound.

There might be a nosebleed for Christian too. Big right hands and Edge is making a comback, Christian trying to use a neckbreaker, countered. Unprettier, countered again.

Out of the ring goes Edge and he just went under the ring and now there's a crossbody from the other side and Christian just kicked out. Boot to the face and SPEAR by Christian, Edge kicks out of that one.

Now Christian's lost it and is taking out two chairs. He almost whacked the referee there and he's going for a conchairto, legsweep by Edge and he's now thinking of using the conchairto himself.

Ref takes the chair, low blow by Christian with a chair, he just won the title.

There's a little scuffl involving KroniK and Stevie Richards kicking Undertaker ass.

WCW TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

KroniK Vs. Undertaker and Kane (c)

Brawl to the outside to start things off. There's some more brawling, Taker does a Hogan impression on Adams. Heyman sounds shocked that KroniK haven't been destroyed yet.

Oh wait there it is, a series of elbows and in comes Kane to punch and stomp to his hearts content. Bodyslam by Kane and another kickout by Adams, first bit of offense involvees a backbreaker.

Kane doesn't quite have the power of the Undertaker, Clarke with some punches, chops and even kicks. Kane ducks a clothesline, neckbreaker and a few more punches. Shoulder breaker and here comes The american badass.

Old School is incoming and down goes Clarke and Undertaker has the armbar on, cheap shot from Adams. Undertaker gives him an uppercut then gets stomped on. More kicks, this is moving along at an incredibly plodding pace.

We see a dropkick! But Undertaker kicks out of it. Undertaker punches away, action moves to the outside and KroniK are using a lot of double teams. Kane comes in to help. Hardshots by The Undertaker to th body and now Clarke's in and he takes a DDT.

Kane's being called a hoss as he cleans house with the rest and there's potentially a double chokeslam. Double clothesline instead and Undertaker's back in. KroniK are getting grounded into a pulp here and Richards tries to interfere but he gets knocked out.

Adams with a jawbreaker. Kane flies and Undertaker delivers a chokeslam and that's enough for the win. Steven Richards comes in with a steel chair but to no avail.

Booker T's getting motivated by Shane, oh look Tazz just came here, ECW and WCW sure are best buds. Stephanie's talking to a door, Chris Jericho's behind her. Plenty of jokes involving the size of her bust.

WWF HARDCORE TITLE MATCH:

Rob Van Dam (c) Vs. Chris Jericho

Heyman talks about Van Dam's 23 month long title reign and the crowd sounds firmly behind Van Dam.

A lot of armdrags and there's even dropkicks going on at the same time. This is exactly the same way the Jeff Hardy matches have started.

RVD with a bridge. Plenty of chopping and then a lot of pinning attempts. The crowd's essentially chanting Y2J while doing the RVD motion.

Big slap in the face by Jericho and RVD's kicking away now. RVD going for some high impact but Jericho's trying to keep him grounded.

Y2J with a springboard, didn't do much and RVD hits him with a crossbody on the outside. Jericho's hung up on the barricade RVD with a spinning kick off the apron and he misses Jericho by a wide margin.

This is a hardcore match, so Jericho's bringing in the ladder and down goes RVD. Suplex on top of the ladder and RVD is down, nearfall!

RVD reverses the situation by giving Jericho a suplex on the ladder. Missed dropkick allows an attempt at a Walls, the legs are still fine andd there's a rolling thunder.
