Caved and watched Raw. Was better than last week's but that "main event" was terrible. Also Punk/Bryan while "technically" looking like it should be a good match on paper had too much focus on AJ for my tastes and was pretty tame in general so even that was a bit of a letdown.

Definitely swapping over to SD next week.

And Sting coming in to attack Roode was after a very well constructed main event. There's nothing wrong with a little post-match beatdown for a statement but when it comes at the expense of your main attraction that's terrible.

There has literally never been a time in the Monday Night Raw era (in any fed) where "sending the viewing audience home happy" was a priority. The only audience you are beholden to are the paying customers.

It's a priority for a good show.

I'm thinking about this in terms of show quality not "quality booking." WWE needs to prioritize show quality first right now because they're on a downward trend here. It'll take a while for the ratings to hit but I would be good money it's going to happen soon.

also, though i dislike the ME, it's the right call to make. Show has been face for a damn long time and the closest thing he's been heel in like 5 years was when he was Alignment: Kane. this establishes his credibility as a monster heel until the next change.

to that end, it was a necessary evil. i would've swapped dragon/punk and that event, but eh. it's still an important thing to happen.

and then we had the raw what was it, 2, 3 weeks ago with heyman on for the first time? and the rest of it was pretty good? yeah, it happens. they're trying stuff, experimenting, it's what they do after WM. admittably they got caught with dragon and lesnar for the one immediatley after, but this is effectively the same phase.

To this statement, this falls back to WWE's (misguided IMO) opinion on positioning.

They are presenting Cena vs. Big Show as THE big draw main event of the PPV. I think we can all agree that this is a shortsighted error. But GIVEN THAT PREMISE, they are following through logically by doing what they can to build that match.

Also uhhh Big Show could've done a beatdown on a dude who isn't Brodus Clay to improve the segment for one. Someone who Show could actually toss around and really make the beatdown look good... someone like... like...

... man there aren't very many faces in the midcard are there. The reason Show beat Clay and Awesome Truth was that was all the remotely credible non me faces they have (other than Santino who was beat down earlier in the show), I guess. Yikes.

problem with your logic is that it's absolutely not established as a midcard feud. you've got the former champ of one brand, who tied Punk repeatedly when they were both champs, and made the superman of a brand pass out. Dolph/Punk was treated as a main event even, so within kayfabe you're doubly wrong. to finish the hat trick, punk/jericho had the same problems, position-wise, as punk/dragon.

there's really nothing midcard about it - it's for the belt, starring two of their top guys. just because you irrationally hate dragon doesn't mean that you put something he's in as midcard anything because it's not. it's a booking problem in that they're forgetting both WHO they have and WHAT they have. the 'personal blood feud' should be a 10PM slot, but the championship match should be the closer.

All of what you said is pretty much irrelevent. They are percieved as being less of a big deal than Show/Cena and Big Johnny/Triple H/ Lesnar/Cena because thats how they are treated. Once you establish a feud as being not as big of a deal as other stuff, its VERY hard to transcend that.

The point is, the title means nothing, unless they say it does. The title has meant nothing on Punk since Rumble, because the WWE hasnt said it meant something. Or at least not significantly more than any other title.
