Mostly this. I've never thought I was missing out on any cool Wild ideas because I don't care about Wild.

I don't play meme decks, my enjoyment out of the game comes from playing good decks, winning, and ranking up, and with ranking up in Wild being meaningless, there's no enjoyment there. Obviously my Standard ranking is meaningless as well because I'm an average, non-competitive player, but it's slightly less meaningless.

I dunno, maybe I just play the game for different reasons than others! I'm not saying that playing Wild is bad, I just don't enjoy it.

I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh pretty seriously, and while there are Traditional formats there, my goal was always to beat others and win serious tournaments at my locals. When I stopped playing, Hearthstone filled that void of "play seriously and beat others", albeit to a lesser, much more insignificant extent.

Neither ladder has meaning to me. At the end of the month they both reset, I get a few golden cards I don't want that end up as dust and a card back I won't use.

...how many f***ing card backs are there now? Jesus, eventually there'll be more standard card backs than standard cards to play with.

Blizzard's current plan is to "print" ~400 cards/year.

Neither ladder holds a lot of interest for me. I just play the game, in whatever mode I feel like playing. December was the first month I got above rank 10, because I had a deck I enjoyed playing.

persona 5 is getting my early April game spending instead of hearthstone. Hearthstone is just getting too expensive and with 3 expansions a year now I'm gonna f2p until I stop enjoying the game and quit.

Not when I first started. But at this point I've been able to get most of the cards I card about. Am I missing some stuff? Sure, a little, but I was able to buy something like 100 packs of GvG just with gold.

I decided to break down and craft Wickerflame because I wanted to mess around with Handbuff Paladin and none of the Ungoro Legendaries are really exciting me (I'll have some packs and the 3200+ dust so cool enough to get the two or 3 I want

NZoth Pally might be tier 2/3, btw. I know Sylvanas rotates out but that card can't be used against you and most of the combo decks that counter it are leaving standard too. Could be very good.

I haven't spent a penny on the game either and I can create just about any deck I want. I'm still missing a lot of cards, especially from TGT as I stopped playing for around a year, but outside of a couple of legendaries(Saraad) and obnoxious Mage epics I refuse to craft but never seem lucky enough to open I have everything I really want.

When i get 1600 dust I no longer think, man, which legendary should I craft, but I think, man, is there a legendary left I actually want to play with, enough that I'm willing to blow the dust on it? Man is a very important word in my inner monologues. Also, excessive use of commas.

I think if you started early enough you'd have enough dust/gold to just f2p without losing out on the experience. If you're a newer player I feel like you'd always be playing catch up.

The only time I've spent money was to buy one arena run during the beta to get that promo. I've never had any issues making any deck I've wanted to make or buying any adventures.

I started in early 2015, but only played for a few months and came back stronger about a year later.

I have enough of the cards that I could craft nearly all of the best decks, and if I had Edwin and Malygos, I'd be able to make nearly anything.

I've spent around $10 on packs, which isn't even 10 packs, and also bought the Welcome Bundle. Otherwise, it's all been gold. I have bought all of the adventures, other than Nax, with real money, though. It was the only way I was going to be competitive, and saving up gold for them would have meant less opportunities for packs.

My outlook is that I'll buy any adventures with cash, but I won't ever spend any real money on packs going forward, and that's worked so far (Unless they come out with something similar to the welcome bundle). With no adventure this year, I'll be spending less real money but also have a greater issue with getting most of the new cards. I've contemplated purchasing some of the alternate heroes with the money I won't be spending on adventures.

Starting seriously in 2016 is also the reason why I committed to Standard early. I had almost zero TGT cards and never owned Nax, so it didn't make sense to attempt to play a format I'd always be disadvantaged in.

I look forward to the trolden video where this manages to survive into playing a N'Zoth. Also this card with Weasel tunneler is probably just going to break Hearthstone for the first person who tries that.

No direct synergy with N'Zoth. It's when you play a minion, not when you summon a minion.

edit: I stand corrected. The actual text says summon.

the real question is, of course: Is Blizzard being perfectly internally consistent w.r.t. play vs. summon?

I saw Galvadon in action and wow ok nevermind it is stupid strong haha. I forgot how many small buffs Paladin has and with Divine Favor and/or Small-Time Recruits you can get through your deck super quickly.

But eh... Pirate Warrior really is going to wreck the hopes and dreams of all the people wishing for this set. D:

Nah, PW isn't really that great. People know to expect it when they see warrior, and it's a very binary game. You either win or you don't, and there's no in-between. There's no "almost won" with pirate warrior. (Well, there is, if you get them to 2 and then the opponent plays Reno or massively stabilizes, but it isn't a last turn blow for blow kinda deal.)

Pants Paladin wont be the deck that beats Pirate Warrior, but it could be the deck good against decks that do.

I dunno, maybe I'm being naive but the power level of this set seems really pushed. It's like each class has at least one decent-to-great anti-aggro card. Decent early game plays that are versatile lategame. Completely reasonable neutral taunts at 2, 3, and 4 mana, plus some class taunts. Random pirate hate cards like the crab and ooze. Ben Brode said the meta will change, and I believe him this time. And if it doesn't, they'll nerf Patches or First Mate in a month.

Just had an Arena match that I lost but was praying for me to draw Pyroblast because my opponent made no attempt to play around it despite having me on the backfoot and that likely being the only possible out. I mean he put himself into Pyroblast range when there was no reason to risk it. Then when he got a Friendly Bartender to get out of Pyroblast range, he immediately put himself back into it.

He so deserved to be Pyroblasted with his play and I'm annoyed it never came
