Six runs under new arena, still 0 legendary choices. My luck in getting them in arena is just as bad as opening them in packs, here's hoping there's a secret arena pity timer.

That said, this last draft was a bit strange. Ended up with 22 of the same cards I had the very last draft, and I could have taken a few more if I wanted to. They wouldn't stop offering them to me paired with obviously inferior ones that I wasn't going to take. Went 8-3 with it so I hope this one ends up the same. Also, back to back Mage drafts with 0 Flamestrikes/Firelands/Fireballs/Blizzards offered. One Frostbolt each, one my my 22 clone cards. Some of those cards are supposed to come up less often, not all of them.

Also, looking at my six drafts so far and checking all of the cards I've been offered, my most common possible choice is apparently Bomb Squad. Thirteen chances to take it in six drafts.

sadly what will happen with dred is that he would simply get removed by a spell immediately. I mean, imagine a meta where some kind of lategame control hunter running dred is actually prevalent. everyone would be running a big minion removal card in such a meta. and if they queue into hunter they know to save that card for dred.

I'm nearly done moving to a new place. (small crappy apartment to big spacious house). I still have lots of unpacking and organizing to do, and I still have to spend a few days cleaning the apartment (so as to get my deposit back), but I think it is safe to say there are some games I want to start spending time playing again, hearthstone being among them.

Here's hoping that holds up and I'm able to commit some time to it each week pretty soon.

All of which can come down before turn 7. (Granted, it's less than ideal, especially for Leeroy, and Gadgetzan no longer has Tomb Pillager coins to fuel it.)

No pit snake, but the cobra's still there. Costs 3 rather than 1, so slightly bigger commitment to your turn, but still not a big deal.

Cobra won't see play still. Still too niche and terrible on curve

The adapt cards will be the cards in the set to look out for. If they are strong then they will probably check the Hunter legendary.

I think I was the only one who was impressed with the first card they revealed. I have every confidence adapt will be a thing. Still only 3 in whatever chance of getting poisonous, though. I think there's a much easier way to deal with Dredd, though -- control the game. After all, that's one of the things hunters are struggling with right now.

Oooo my thief priest is gonna love this. It really struggles for tempo so a body on board with my steals is so good.

I think it'll be good in the Questing deck. Not a turn 1 play obviously as you gotta play your quest but you can fit it in to your curve pretty well I think.

Oooh Quartermaster finally gets a replacement and it only took a year

Has some potential, better stats for cost than eadric, you can use the tokens you have on board to trade off minions or find burst for lethal. Artwork is phenomenal.

No, you just play the anti pirate package.

Turn 1 Mixtress. Turn 2 pirate crab. Turn 3 that 1/5 taunt that's a 3/5 on their turn. Turn 4 class taunt like the warlock discard one.

Then you lose against decks that aren't pirates! Now that's a metagame.

9 mana is just too slow tbqh. There's a reason COTW went from ridiculous to not really seeing play anymore. That said the 4/4 is decent and curves well with Fire Ele (Jade Chieftain is just better though)

Ysera works but it's basically a grindy win con against control decks and activates dragons but other than that the only other ones are Alex, Maly, and Jaraxxus which aren't really minions so much as pure win cons

If there's one thing I'm surprised about for Pirate, it's that they didn't consider moving Frothing to wild. I feel like if they did that the power level of the deck would go down to be more reasonable

Any 9 or 10 mana card needs to have insane, immediate value to see play since it's the only thing you're doing on that turn and is a dead card for most of the game. In any meta where a 5/25 or whatever could be useful, you'll be dead before you can play it.

I'm sure there will be a cheaper zoo deck. I'm still not convinced that Zoo wants to run that quest. It's so slow and you're not even guaranteed to get 6 discards in a quick game. I'm more concerned that there's nine "new" (?) archtypes locked behind legendaries. Even if they're not good, it's a little lame.

I kinda like the 7 mana 4/4. It's like a little baby Cenarius and has decent stats for the effect. Probably too unreliable, though.

Probably gonna go for legend, currently rank 2.

It just comes down to whether I want to join the dark side and play Pirate Warrior to hit it or not. I really don't think anything beats it right now (Jade Druid oppresses all of its counters and is fairly common) and I don't feel like building a Renolock/Control Warrior deck

Have you played Pirate Warrior? It's actually quite fun. The way the pirates and weapons work together feels really good. Since you are fairy close, I'd totally recommend it. I'd hate to do it from rank 20 the whole way because it starts to lose its lustre after so many games, but if it's fresh for you it should be a fun way to crash into legend.


Personally id hate to do it with the shaman decks. They don't feel good at all. There's no real synergy. Just play good cards every turn because shaman has so many good cards. Blah.

I've played pirate warrior. It can be fun, but it's also very oppressive. Nobody else gets to play what they want. They just try to endure you to turn 8. If they make it, they win (usually).

It's kinda like Infernal Enforcer. 7 mana 6/6 body with the 3 mana Hellfire spell built in vs a 7 mana 4/4 body with the 3 mana 2 overload Feral Spirits spell built in.

It's slightly conditional but I think it'll be pretty easy to activate.

Murloc Shaman quest seems insane. Murloc 1 drops are already bad, so there's less drawback for skipping turn 1 than in Zoo. Then you'll end up competing it around turn 6 or 7 when you're running out of gas. And play a f***ing 5 mana 8/8 draw 10. Value.

tbh any one of those abilities wouldn't make it broken. If I want the Abyssal Enforcer option, for instance, I'd generally rather just have an Abyssal Enforcer straight up for one less mana. Getting to choose between them makes it really powerful, yeah, but I don't think it's burn-down-Blizzard-HQ levels of good.

In other news, I took a peek at the Winter Championship decklists. It turns out there's 14 Pirate Warriors, 1 control warrior, and 1 Fr0zen bringing Kun Malygos Druid instead like a boss.

Not to mention, you have to have played an elemental the turn before you want the effect. The way it's worded, you can't even hold a cheap elemental like the new Fire Fly to combo it in the same turn, it's previous turn or bust.

The elemental mechanic looks like it rewards just naturally curving out, which seems a bit win-more, but we'll see.
