WWF All-Star Wrestling
Wk. 1, 7/84

Pre-show: Bolo/Jones d. Sheik/Koloff to retain (75, Bolo's Mysterious gimmick gets 90)

GM Ray Stevens is in the ring to re-acquaint us with King of the Ring. Like last time (I think?) it will be a 16-man tournament, with semi-finals and finals held at a show named after it! The first match will be right now, and he brings out Lawler and Garea! Garea is happy to get a chance, and Lawler figures the King HAS to win KotR! (44) Lawler puts away Garea without much trouble to advance to round 2. (69)

Money and Power brag about DiBiase's shiny new NWA Title! They've amassed plenty of money and power, but being great wrestlers doesn't hurt either! (87) Future Perfect and Baba/Tsuruta are still teams that exist, and they have a pretty okay match. Faces go over. (65) Fink is out to the ring on official business. He has a proposition for the KotR participants. The first one of them to come out and accept his deal will get a shot at DiBiase, at the expense of giving up their KotR spot! ...Steamboat comes out! DiBiase is a disgrace to the belt and the sport, and he will be glad to set matters right! (58)

The Rac comes out with significantly less swagger than usual after losing the NWA Title, but it doesn't appear to be slowing him down in the ring as Muraco plows through AKIO. (78) It's time for our second KotR match of the night! Gilbert's out first. There can be only one King of the Ring, but you can bet it'll be one of the Pair of Kings! Gilbert pities the poor man that has to fight him. That man is...Andre the Giant, and Gilbert looks like he might cry. (61) Andre pancakes the poor kid. (79)

At Heavy Metal Mayhem, the network tried to control Terry Funk. They tried to censor him and box him in and make him go away. Nobody makes Terry Funk go away. Not WWF, not his "friends" in All Japan, not the networks, and certainly not Tito Santana. (89) We have a great main event, with Hansen and Rich keeping All Japan on top with a win over Flair and KVE! ...which I meant to book the other way but I had a brain fart. (92) King David cuts off the end of the show! It is ridiculous that we are having another King of the Ring when he's the best King WWF is ever going to have! He wasn't invited to the tournament, so that means they are compensating him with a WWF Title shot, right? Stevens comes out, and thinks maybe the shot should go to somebody who DIDN'T get beat in the middle of the ring on Sunday. ....In fact, he's giving the next shot to Kevin! (72)

One of these days I wanna do a TEW file where some random element is actually random. I did MM that way for that one "WWE but like UCA" game, but I think a full random lethal lottery or raw roulette would be fun too.

Back in the EWR days I once tried to do a game where I randomized EVERYTHING. I left it a bit too open-ended though- the only thing I remember was that HBK was feuding with a diva, possibly over a title.

Pre-show: Afa d. Atlas (47)

Jones is here with Bolo to announce that, since we're having King of the Ring, we're also gonna have a little tag tournament for #1 contendership! (65) Speaking of tag teams, the Samoans beat the Harts! (45) And Future Perfect beat Saito and Misawa! (64) Style and Substance butt into the post match to taunt Future Perfect- S&S are going to knock 'em out of the tournament next week! (50)

Duggan retains his IC Title over Fuji. (66) Bruno runs in and takes out Duggan! (79, Bruno's Manly Man gimmick gets an initial 100) King of the Ring is here for the main event! A frustrated Muraco is able to put away an equally frustrated Sheik to advance! (79, Sheik's Crazed Sheik gets an initial 50) Lawler comes out afterwards to confront Muraco. They are the first match set for Round 2, and we're gonna find out why they already call Lawler the King! (81)

Pre-show: Bruno/Sheik d. Survivors (54)

Flair and Koloff are paired off for a future KotR match. They argue about the worth of AMERICA. (68, Flair's The Nature Boy gets 79) Speaking of King of the Ring, this week we're getting both the tag champs in action, just like we got both of Pair of Kings last week! Bolo is up first against Funk. Funk is on fire, and punches his ticket to round two with an intense win. (78)

King David is coming out to protest this farce of a tournament! WWF already has a King! Ray Stevens has had enough of his whining, and forcibly removes the crown. (63) Muraco and Santana team up in a win over Pair of Kings. But what will happen when Muraco faces Lawler mano a mano in the quarterfinals? (77)

Future Perfect are in the ring. They're unhappy at being left out of King of the Ring. Hennig is also unhappy in general (last I checked I'm pretty sure he's STILL pissed about losing the tag titles like six months ago), and keeps wandering off script. Windham manages to convey that they are going to go for the tag titles. (55)

KVE jumps Rich backstage! (82, KVE's Family Tradition gets 95) Andre and Koloff are in round two of KotR! Not in the same match, though, so let's see what might happen! Andre flattens the Russian. Exciting. (75) Steamboat finds DiBiase backstage. Steamboat is going to take that NWA Title out of DiBiase's conniving hands! (89) Williams is not here because he's fighting Jones in KotR for our main event! It's a very nice match, and Williams gets the clean win. (84, Williams' Henchman gets 90) KVE calls out Hansen. KVE has wrestling in his blood, and he's not the same weakling Hansen went through when he first came here! As Rich found out, KVE is to be taken seriously! Hansen gets in the ring and tries to stare the kid down, but leaves when it doesn't work. (75)

Pre-show: Survivors d. Edwards/Patterson (55)

A particularly grumpy Bruno beats Atlas to kick off the show. (74) Duggan jumps Bruno! It's payback for last week! They brawl to the outside and are separated. (74) We were gonna get Harts v. Saito/Misawa, but the Samoans ran in on the Harts!...and then turned on Saito and Misawa as well. (23)

We get the first round of the tag contendership mini-tournament! (I remembered to announce that last week, right? I'm announcing it now if not >_>) Jones joins us on commentary, with Bolo at his side, as Future Perfect take on Style and Substance. Jones hypes up both teams as worthy opponents, but is notably favoring Future Perfect. Style and Substance take issue to this, and Bolo takes issue to their taking issue, and Windham takes a chance to capitalize for the win. (67, Schultz's Trash gets 77) Martel and Jones exchange some words after the match. (50)

King of the Ring main events, with Santana getting a big win over Afa Reigns. (74) Fink gets a word with Santana afterwards- Tito is very excited, and things are looking up for him! (55)

There's just not tons of room for him at the top, and he's pretty old, so he's just kinda slipped down to Midcard at this point. That and I usually pick a couple of feuds to put on the B show even if they're between A show kinda people, just to spread it out a bit.

Written contracts still limit the damage I could do to AWA and GCW, and I don't really *need* more guys at this point, but I could make stuff like SWCW have a pretty bad time. -What would y'all think of changing the diary format every year? Like '83 was prediction contests, most of '84 was complete control on my end, and '85 could be something else. (eaed, I would probably be stealing that idea you had the other day >_>) Something like alternating between full-control years and gimmick years might keep stuff interesting for everybody. Maybe?

Bruno is in the ring to start us off. He's got an issue with WWF, but mainly he has an issue with Duggan. Plenty of people hate the guy, and he's no IC Champ! Duggan comes out to protest, but is jumped by Sheik! (69) Our first match is King of the Ring, wherein Rich beats Atlas after a solid match. (83) Albano hypes up his Samoans. It's time for them to start delivering, beginning with the Tag Tournament match tomorrow night! (47) Style and Substance complain to Jones and Bolo that their commentary distracted them, causing their loss last week! Jones tells them it's their own fault. (57)

KVE puts away AKIO (70) but Hansen lumbers out after the match! KVE plants AKIO one more time, and is ready by the time the champ gets to the ring. A brawl erupts, but stays pretty even until broken up. (85) Santana beats Sharpe. (64) Money and Power beat up Steamboat backstage! (78)

KotR is up again- Flair puts away Koloff. (78) DVE comes out after the match, sans KotR regalia, and again complains about the injustice of stripping him of the Kingship! DVE says he's the heartthrob all the ladies wanna see, so he should be treated like the King he is! Flair grabs a mic and tells him to quit whining. (92, DVE's Teen Idol gets 89) Our main event is a TAG MATCH PLAYA with everybody who had already qualified for KotR round 2. (except Santana) Andre and Muraco are able to roll through Funk and Lawler! (86, Andre's Gentle Giant gets 100)

Jones joins us on commentary again, and Bolo joins us at ringside, as the Survivors take on the Samoans. Winners will fight FP for a shot at the belts. Jones is once again pro-face, but unlike S&S, the Samoans stay focused on the match. Albano gets in Jones' face, with Bolo separating them, as Meng gets the pin. (55, Albano's Pirate gets 96) Future Perfect come out afterwards! Windham says they'll be ready for the Samoans while Hennig goes off on Vince. (56)

Style and Substance are still griping about the loss last week. The Harts tell them to be glad they even had an opportunity to waste! (36) And then Bolo beats Martel. (70) Duggan has recruited Atlas to help out in tonight's tag match! (60) ...But Bruno and Sheik are able to beat the pair. (73) All Japan's filler members jump Santana for no real reason, but KVE makes the save! (38)

Howard Finkel is here with WWF's newest star...."All Natural" Butch Reed! He's happy to be here, ladies. (55, Universal Hearthrob gets 54) Back to KotR! We get Funk vs. Flair. Funk gets the big win after DVE runs in on Flair on the outside! (85) Duggan and Bruno want to fight Sunday for the IC Title. (67)

KVE takes the fight to All Japan, and jumps Hansen in a hallway! (86) Our main event is our third round 2 match- Andre and Williams in the clash of the hosses! #1 Contender time! The New Samoans face Future Perfect, with the winner to challenge for the titles this Sunday. The Samoans are showing some fire tonight! They put down the former champs in a bit of an upset! (60) Captain Lou wants to make an example, though, and keeps his Samoans in the ring! Hennig is subjected to the dreated TONGAN DEATH GRIP, and then Sika delivers a vicious kick to the skull! Jones and Bolo rush out to make the save, but Hennig has to be stretchered out. (41) We also have our final KotR quarterfinal tonight, as Muraco takes on Lawler in the main event! It's a solid match, with Muraco going over clean. (78)

Pre-show: Santana/Reed d. Style and Substance (75)

Money and Power are here. DiBiase is still NWA Champ, and they are still better than you, and Ricky Steamboat can't change either of those facts. (87) He's sure gonna try though! It takes some interference from Williams, but DiBiase is able to get the win. (78)

Captain Lou is hyping up his Samoans. He's brought them this far- they'd better deliver now! (57) They're sure gonna try! Windham comes out to ringside during the tag title match. He ignores Albano and stares daggers at the Samoans, causing some distraction. That's all Jones and Bolo need to retain! (78) Windham gets on the mic- the Samoans injured his partner, and they got was was coming to 'em! (44)

Flair says we're crowning a new King tonight, and hopefully he won't be as big a sore loser as David Von Erich! DVE tells Flair he'll never be King, or as much of a ladies' man as DVE. (88) A technical clinic ensues, with Flair getting the win. (86)

Lawler's upset that he drew Andre in the quarterfinals. He claims to be the REAL King around here anyway. Andre shoves him out of the way as he proceeds to the ring. (75)

But first, Muraco and Funk square off in the other KotR Semifinal! It's a good'un. The Rac Bottom puts Funk away! (84) Muraco guaran-darn-tees he will go through Rich, Andre, or whoever else he has to in the finals! (99) Fink is asking Brisco about his goals in the WWF when Funk shows up and hijacks the mic to call Muraco a hack and swear vengeance on the WWF. (60)

Andre and Rich is our much-anticipated second semifinal! Andre gets the upper hand at the start, but doesn't quite have the stamina (in OR out of kayfabe) to avoid gassing himself. Wildfire is able to take over and beat the Giant from that point! (91) Fink hops in the ring so Rich can tell us about the fire burning inside him that not even a giant can quench! (57...gotta stop letting Fink interview people, man)

Duggan retains over Bruno in an allout brawl. (70) Duggan starts to leave, when...

WWF Title time! Hansen debuted by beating the heck out of KVE, but it's not going to be so easy this time. They brawl all over ringside, but the LARIATOOO proves a bit too much to handle in the end. (88) Hansen celebrates and taunts the crowd with his All Japan buddies. (71)

The finals are here! It is Muraco vs. Rich for the Kingship. Tonight, the Rac comes out on top. (81)

Brisco calls out Funk, who blew past him at the PPV. He wants to know what Funk's deal is, and Funk tells him: Brisco is just some johnny-come-lately that doesn't deserve a spot here. Brisco wants to prove him wrong! (77) Flair and Duggan TEAM UP against Style and Substance, and emerge victorious. (64) Jesse "The Body" Ventura is here YEAAAAAHHHH (74)

Windham seeks revenge on Sika in singles action! To Captain Lou's increasing consternation, Meng accidentally biffs Sika with a chair, giving Windham the win. (56) Bruno is still pissed at the world, and wants to take it out on Flair. (61) Rich beats Atlas for no particular reason. (77)

David Von Erich is on his way to the ring, informing the camera that this new "King of the Ring" is a SHAM and he's gonna stop the coronation! Kevin intercepts his brother, and tells him to stop being ridiculous. KVE actually manages to calm DVE down a bit! (81) Before we can get to said coronation, we have a main event of Steamboat and Santana vs. Money and Power. Heels win, somewhat predictably. (86) Money and Power decide to beat up Steamboat some more for fun....until ANDRE THE GIANT comes out! He doesn't think 2 on 1 is very fair, but he does think he'd like that NWA Title. (89) It's time to officially crown King Muraco! King Don! King Rac! I can't come up with a name that sounds right! Anyway, it's all very nice and done up until STAN HANSEN pops out of nowhere and levels Muraco with the WWF Title! Hansen beats the king down as we go off the air! (100)

Albano and Sika put the boots to their former friend...but out comes a new guy! Some guy with a skull on his pants cleans house, saving Meng! (41, ???'s Wild Man gets 98, Meng's face turn was a complete success)

Butch Reed teams with Tony Garea in a win over former champs Baba and Tsuruta. (58) Atlas puts away Misawa. (61) A despondent Style and Substance are accosted backstage by a fellow in a tacky jacket. He introduces himself as Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and he has a proposition for them. (42)

Sheik goes over Bret. (69) Jones and Bolo are still your tag champs and stuff. (73) Jesse "The Body" Ventura makes his in-ring debut with an impressive win over Barry Windham! (82) He's here to raise some Cain, and he's gonna start by taking the IC Title from Duggan! (96)

RANT
I'm trying to move up the TV totem pole, and it's driving me nuts. I can't get a new show because I have two already, even though Wrestling Challenge is going to end. I also don't seem able to put either of my shows on a bigger channel without letting them expire first. I can probably get a new A-Show on a big network if I let Wrestling Challenge die off, but that means three months with only one show because negotiations are only open at specific points. Pretty much the only thing I ever dislike about TEW is picky business stuff like this -_- Anyway my current plan is to let Wrestling Challenge die and maybe bump All-Star Wrestling up to 2.5 or 3 hours in the interim, then try to start Raw or something next chance I get.

Flair is very much up for fighting Bruno any time he wants! (92) The in-ring action kicks off with a compelling Windham/Williams match, with Williams going over. (86) Style and Substance introduce their new manager, Bobby Heenan! (44) The Von Erichs are talking- Kevin seems to be convincing David to reform his heely ways. (81) Brisco beats Lawler in a competitive match (72) and then calls out Funk! Brisco isn't just some flash in the pan- he's here to stay and he's here to fight! (83)

Steamboat and Ventura are the next match, and it's a good'un. The Body goes over. (84) DiBiase approaches Andre backstage, full of apologies for upsetting him last week.
