mnkboy907: This thing was my MVP against the Elite 4. Skill Link Rock Blast/Bullet Seed combo is so good. Shame they didn't give it a new Flying attack to make use of it, but Drill Peck/Beak Blast is good enough.

MrSmartGuy: A pirate's best friend.

Inviso: Shiny Toucannon with Skill Link is a Pokemon on my Sun Team. It's pretty awesome. Hell, I never realized how awesome Skill Link was until I trained this bad boy. I'm glad I did.

Cybat: Cool name, simple and effective design, and badass signature move. I would probably have this guy higher if he had stayed on my team but there was too much competition and Trumbeak wasn't cutting it. Oh well.

swordz9: Looks eternally pissed off

XIII: Not a great regional bird, but it at least has a terrific signature move to put it above the likes of Pidgeot, Noctowl, and Unfezant.

Raka_Putra: Funny how you can find level 40+ Trumbeak in the wild but never Toucannon.

Paratroopa1: toucans are awesome. they make like this weird rattling noise. it's really weird. also they beaks that change color when they're charging up a laser attack. it's really weird! toucans are weird

Brayze_II: people are like ‘it’s just a toucan’, but it’s a pissed off toucan with a beak that heats up and that’s already more creative than 85% of pokemon

Luster Soldier: After Talonflame last generation, the new early game bird had a difficult time to improve upon Talonflame, at least in the competitive area. This was before we learned of a Gale Wings nerf. Even after the nerf, it's still better than Toucannon. It's not all that bad for Toucannon, as it has 2 useable abilities in Skill Link and Sheer Force. Finally, Toucannon is still a better looking design than the trash that is Unfezant (worst early game bird ever).

PrinceKaro: NO MORE NORMAL/FLYING NO MORE NORMAL/FLYING NO MORE NORMAL/FLYING NO MORE NORMAL/FLYING NO MORE NORMAL/FLYING NO MORE NORMAL/FLYING

ctes: Okay, so get this. We're making a pointless line just because we're stubborn about always having a regional early bird. We make it bland and boring to. Then we make the 2nd evolution and somehow make things worse than they already were. Toucannon has a pretty interesting signature move as the line's only point of interesting, but it's incredibly easy to play around and Toucannon is ass beyond that. They basically just oversized the beak and made it stupidly and unnecessarily angry, ruining what was already a pointless line. It's better than Unfezant, but christ, stop with these birds every gen, there's no reason to when you're out of ideas for them.

Just need to get my 62 and 37 outta here.

mnkboy907: Regular Sandslash is fine and all, but this is on a whole new level. The color scheme on this thing is just so sleek. This is how to do an alternate forme right.

Cybat: So, most of the Alolan forms are pretty ugly, but the ones that aren't are quite appealing. This one sports an interesting (if kind of terrible) typing and a logical variation on the existing design.

Ermine: Good.

Inviso: Ice/Steel is a cool typing and I'm always willing to give credit to the few Ice-types the game decides to give us. Sandslash is a tough badass naturally, so again, even though its Alolan form is a lesser Pokemon than the original, I still like it.

Paratroopa1: it's not the most out of the box design you could have come up with for a pokemon reimagined as an ice type, but I still have to give it a lot of credit for being really well executed

XIII: Nice switch up on the design

ctes: Looks pretty cool, but not as great as regular Sandslash imo. When there were no megas to put too big and many spikes on, they looked at this instead. And while there actually aren't as many as its regular form, they sure are too huge. Typing is interesting, but not particularly great.

Raka_Putra: Cool stuff.

PrinceKaro: How to ruin a good pokemon, lesson one.

StifledSilence: Blue Sandslash, because Blue Raspberry just wasn't enough for you.

Luster Soldier: Never really cared about Sandslash to begin with, so the Alolan Form wasn't going to change my opinion here.

hotdogturtle: Tapu Koko kind of got the Greninja treatment in this gen. It was revealed on its own before the other Tapus, it's the only one to appear during the story, and it already had a prominent role in the anime. It's probably really big with kids. But I'm falling for it too, it's my favorite Tapu easily. Looking at its stats you'd expect it to be a beastly physical attacker, but due to its movepool it's commonly used as a special attacker despite being weaker. However, I prefer using the physical version myself. There was also a fun Z-Mirror Move set that someone came up with for the Battle Tree, which I had a good time using. Electric Surge has a lot of combo potential in doubles (although you're sacrificing your framerate if you try to use it).

swordz9: Immediately wanted one on my team and was disappointed it was a legendary/mythical/one-time catch/etc

ctes: Tapu Koko is so goddamn cool. The other Tapus most bow down to what is by far the coolest with by far the coolest typing too. It's really badass and its role in the story is cool. I wish they focused more on the other three being guardians as well, you just kinda weirdly find them. Tapu Koko does come at an annoying time though, you sat the longest credits and then you have to catch this before being able to save!? Doesn't hurt its placement though. I tend to not rank legendaries too high, but Tapu Koko deserves it!

OrangeCrush: The scene where he helps Hala fight Pheromosa is cool. Plus Tapu Koko is the final boss.

XIII: Nice

Ermine: Tapu Koko grew a lot on me. At first glance he was only average but after time I really started to like his design. By FAR and AWAY the only good Tapu. The rest are all trash.

StifledSilence: Cool badass electric thing.

Brayze_II: lots of delightfully shit art for this guy

Luster Soldier: Because of Tapu Koko appearing so early in the story and its appearances later in the story, it has the advantage of being the most visible of the Tapus (the other 3 don't appear during the main story). This should make Tapu Koko the most popular Tapu. Despite the Fairy typing, I don't see people holding that against Tapu Koko since it's a rare example of a non-prototypical Fairy type. Tapu Koko does not conform to the cute stereotype that applies to almost all Fairy type Pokemon, nor does it even give off the appearance of being a Fairy type. If you did not previously know Tapu Koko's typing when looking at the design and tried to guess its typing, Fairy would be a typing you probably wouldn't be able to correctly guess.

Cybat: This is the only Tapu design I can really get behind. The Tapus are a really great concept but the execution leaves something to be desired, both in design where they are not amazing, and in gameplay where they are probably all too good.

Paratroopa1: yep, that's a really cool and well-designed legendary, gotta hand it to them

Raka_Putra: Chicken Attack by Song Voyage.

Inviso: Cool from a story standpoint, but still, nothing all that special about this guy.

XIII: Fire starters are basically always the best so. Also this one happens to have Malicious Moonsault so I'm not sure how anyone can rank anything else at number 1

StifledSilence: Wrestler Kitty was one of the few shining stars in a dull batch of new Pokemon.

Inviso: I kinda wish it was Fire/Fighting just for the rage…but I'm glad we got this dude. His animations are great, and having a heel wrestler Pokemon is pretty badass. Plus, I like him better as a Fire/Dark-type than Houndoom.

OrangeCrush: I wish Gamefreak had the courage to make Incineroar Fire/Fighting. It's clear they wanted to but chickened out.

Cybat: Even when they don't make a Fire/Fighting starter, they do. Darkest Lariat is badass though.

ctes: Incineroar is quite the mixed bag. It really doesn't fulfil what they should have been going for with Litten and that dargs it down a lot. The huge speed loss from Torracat is also super annoying. Sure, some Pokemon are slower than others, but losing it upon evolving is annoying. When that's said, it's not the worst Pokemon on its own. It's a fine gimmick and its signature move is at least very cool despite NPC's never boosting stats and Inciniroar being useless competively.

Raka_Putra: Pelvic thrust is inappropriate for a game meant for children.

Luster Soldier: The only good thing out of this Pokemon is that it's not Fire/Fighting, since this is one of the ugliest final starter evolutions I've ever seen. Even though Gen VI broke up 3 straight generations of Fire/Fighting, there was still some concern that Fire/Fighting would return with a vengeance. Going by the starter leaks, it seemed like it was a possible typing, although Fire/Dark was another possible option.

Paratroopa1: I don't really 'get' wrestling like I understand the popularity of it and I even sort of understand why people like it but it still doesn't really click with me. so here's this cat that shoots fire out of its belt or something. not really into bara either sorry
