before, I would eat like 3,500 calories a day and get enough protein just from eating a lot (but also probably too much fat or carbs)

now I'm not eating so much and I notice my muscles don't recover fast enough. LIke I go into my next workout still fatigued from my last workout.

So now I'm using whey protein and feel much better.

Protein and fat are probably the best things to fill up on with a diet. I've recently started doing keto and for the most part I stay full throughout the day. The first week stinks, but after that, you feel less hungry all the time and generally more energetic.

You still want to get some carbohydrates though. The brain can only use glucose for energy and there is no way for the human body to convert fat to glucose.

IIFYM is the greatest thing I've ever known when it comes to food. Yeah, it's a hassle measuring and weighing your food when you first start but it becomes routine pretty soon after.

Macro - A single instruction that expands automatically into a set of instructions to perform a particular task.

Yes, its called gluconeogeneis. But your body doesn't store protein like it does glucose and fat you can only get it from your muscles.

Not exactly true. The brain can use ketone bodies as an alternative source of energy if enough glucose is not available.
