Why is Eminem at the BET Hip Hop Awards? Is he even eligible to win anything?

In general, what else can you expect from a high school dropout who suffered a pretty serious concussion? And, in general, he needs to virtue-signal hard to keep his place.

...says the guy who insisted that if Trump was elected the world would end and yet, lo and behold, we're all still standing!

As for Trump vs Hillary, at least Hillary *had* motives, and another cold war -- based on international maneuvering -- was plausible, given that she supported a foreign policy which suggested going as far to shoot Russian planes out of Syrian airspace despite the action being a complete violation of Syrian sovereignty and the fact that Russia was the ONLY international player actually combating terrorist groups within the nation at that point (as opposed to the US which was arming and providing logistical support to "moderate" terrorists). What do YOU think that might have done to our relationship with Russia? Or do you somehow view an act of open warfare like shooting down foreign planes as being something other than an act of warfare?

And, while Trump was a mystery, we had 4 years of Hillary's foreign policy to look at along with her connections thereafter and blanket support of these insane plans. Unless you're going to claim that a regime-change advocate who advanced regime change while in office was going to do a 180 and avoid getting us into open conflict with Russia.

Whether or not he's a political commentator doesn't lend any credibility to a high school dropout who sung about being allegedly brain damaged due to a concussion he received.

No, the fact that he flaunts his lack of education -- and incorporated it into raps -- means he doesn't have any respectable opinions outside the realm of rap.

Only Helly wouldn't bother doing any fucking research to learn that it was based on an actual attack that put Eminem in the hospital.

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/eminem-blows-up-20091105

At the top of the shit list was his grade-school nemesis, D'Angelo Bailey. Yes, the bully who gets it with a broomstick in "Brain Damage" was entirely real. "Motherfucker used to beat the shit out of me," Eminem says. "I was in fourth grade and he was in sixth. Everything in the song is true: One day he came in the bathroom, I was pissing, and he beat the shit out of me. Pissed all over myself. But that's not how I got really fucked up." During recess one winter, Em taunted a smallish friend of Bailey's. "D'Angelo Bailey no one called him D'Angelo came running from across the yard and hit me so hard into this snowbank that I blacked out." Em was sent home, his ear started bleeding, and he was taken to the hospital. "He had a cerebral hemorrhage and was in and out of consciousness for five days," his mother reports. "The doctors had given up on him, but I wouldn't give up on my son

I don't understand guys so ignorant that they thought chimeras -- one of the most famous Greek monsters -- were actually Japanese who then extend that ignorance by accusing people of being Trump supporters. Actually, I do understand their tendency to make accusations when they can't refute arguments.

And, if the least among us weren't making glaringly false statements -- like claiming that somebody is insane when they're not -- I wouldn't get stuck correcting them which is then spun into "defending Trump" and then "supporting Trump" because, in the Millennial mind, anybody who disagrees with their wrongheaded opinion is the enemy.

And, to return the "courtesy" of having tagged me -- @mastermix3000

Trump is disliked within the urban community. As a rapper, Eminem works within the urban community and caters to urban groups. Therefore, attacking somebody disliked helps him overcome accusations that, merely because he's white, he likes Trump who they hate.

Humorously you can contrast that against the Dixie Chicks, a country band which stupidly chose to virtue-signal by criticizing a conservative president (Just so you know, were on the good side with yall. We do not want this war, this violence, and were ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.) and lost a sizable chunk of their audience along with a number of sponsors.

I guess I'm looking for a personal definition, or if you could explain how eminem is virtue signaling? There seems to be a weird conservative strain of thinking anyone vaguely on the left doesn't truly hold their convictions, and is only holding them for popularity. To me this just looks like jealously over having opinions that aren't publicly mocked. I don't get it.

Considering I first learned the term from liberals who were applying it to conservatives, the claim that it's a conservative term rings hollow. Secondly, it's not a matter of "truly holding convictions" as it is superficially endorsing a conviction to demonstrate how "good" they are and to get over with people.

I also edited more into the previous comment while you were posting.

Well, how much of a history does he have when it comes to politics? The fact that it's opportunistic is undeniable, and it's fairly safe to assume that he wants to put distance between himself and white movements which minority groups view as being hostile. However, more generally, he's playing *to* his audience rather than against it, which automatically makes any alleged sincerity seem a bit weaker.

He's an american, politics affect everyone. You're not giving any reasons for why it's opportunistic. You're not giving anything that backs up your claims, you're literally just stating your opinion and saying it's undeniable and safe to assume. This is why virtue-signal claims are stupid, it's always just "well he's stating something that a lot of people agree with, therefore he's just doing it to get their support". Hmm, maybe he's saying something because it's what he thinks, plain and simple, it isn't always deeper than that.
