i made the opposite choice at the end of LiS, of course.

it's even more abrupt. and i agree that the choice wasn't necessarily set up very well.

max's journal and chloe, best parts of the game

BBS's main game is really fun. But once you have to go deeper, yikes.

I hate Chloe and I still made the opposite choice. It honestly felt like more of the right thing to do.

Never bothered to go back and watch the other ending either.

Yeah, but the alternative is standing there and doing nothing as the tornado kills (and has already killed since you can see them while navigating the storm) a bunch of people in Arcadia Bay.

Eh, that's a natural disaster outside of my control, theoretically. I mean, both endings result in something terrible happening but I couldn't justify making a choice with the express purpose of killing someone off. I'm not a pragmatist.

Most of the shows I would rec are either things you've already seen, things I don't think you would like, or things I've tried recommending already that didn't get much traction.

Could try Nagi no Asukara maybe? I might have already suggested that at one point also, but I don't remember doing so at least.

I guess for a more risky recommendation you could try Aria the Animation.

I do think it's a good show, but it's also definitely a type of show that's not everyone's cup of tea. And I don't really think any show you've watched is that similar to Aria, so this rec is in sort of uncharted waters from my perspective.

I will say that the show is deliberately very slow-paced and atmospheric, so if that is something you're not in the mood for or not interested in at all then just ignore this. (It's also--even more than other shows--not something that I think can be easily enjoyed if you're forcing yourself to watch it or watching it because someone else told you to.)

Hmm, that tornado was an artificial phenomenon though. Max created it with her time travel. It was basically two choices for her: kill most of the people in Arcadia Bay or kill her best friend. I mean, I can understand picking the former, but it's still mass murder.

Also, I'm still working my way through Chapter 8 in Trails SC. I'm rolling with a Estelle/Joshua/Agate/Zin party at the moment and I'm still rocking everything since those guys don't need no stinkin' orbments. I'm about to do the Abyss Worm Wanted Monster quest though, but I'm saving that for tomorrow because it sucks.

Also what? Most people consider the first 25 episodes of the original to better than the last 25.

my experience was that episodes 13 to 38ish were the best

but if leon got to 18-20 and still wasn't into it then he might be better off without the show

haha, there's been a bit of a war in these topics between watching the original FMA and Brotherhood. Most are on the Brotherhood side, but a couple go with the original FMA.

Also, Leonhart generally prefers shorter series if you want to keep that in mind with your recommendations.

ahh, there you go. I haven't followed this thread before.

I watched FMA '03 (I have issues calling it the 'original') well before Brotherhood, so my perception of the two might be skewed. Brotherhood should be watched either way IMO since its ending is so much more cohesive, but I remember missing the extra development we got early on in the story, especially with Hughes. I also think I preferred 03's take on Homunculus mythology.

Also, Leonhart generally prefers shorter series if you want to keep that in mind with your recommendations.

shorter anime are definitely easier, but you only need to start with the first 6-8 of most long-runners!

I only drop stuff if I don't like it

You can look at my list of anime and the "dropped it" tier is very small

I'm not going to force myself to push through something just for the sake of completing it

so if I'm going to take a dive on something as ridiculously long as Hajime no Ippo I need to be sure I'm going to like the thing

Anyway, I finished up the main game of Kirby Star Allies. Really fun game. That last world was very cool, and Kirby games tend to do a good job with the presentation and atmosphere of their last boss fights. There are some other game modes here, too, that I'll mess with a little later.

DB is just way too many episodes, and I think Z is the more impressive part of the story but that's where the anime gets even worse about the slow pacing.
