Belgium sexism law: Man who insulted officer first to be convicted

The man, who has not been named, was stopped in June 2016 for violating the highway code and told the officer that her job did not suit women.

A court in Brussels fined him 3,000 (2,690; $3,725). He can still appeal.

Hurting feelings becomes a crime. Yes, this is the trend we should be going towards....

Did you actually read what it is? He votes with the same position with the President 83% and 85.7%. The other percentages were just attempts to guess how they would vote based on other factors.

And secondly, if 99% of votes are irrelevant then why don't Dems have higher percentages outside of a handful of Red State Democrats? 42 of the 49 Dems are below 40%.

Should this apply to every politician, or just him?

I think it's a particularly interesting debate also in the context of Twitter occasionally deleting "offensive" tweets from GOP candidates.

I would say it's probably more important to protect the speech of candidates than sitting representatives. What is "trying to influence the outcome of an election" if NOT censoring one party during elections exclusively?

Also what percentage of tweets from sitting politicians do you think are communicating meaningful policy announcements that are not readily available elsewhere?

I think most politicians who are actually savvy enough to use Twitter themselves have a personal account and an official government agent account. In ALMOST EVERY CASE, I think the personal account should do what it wants, but blocking people from the official account should be, at the VERY least, heavily discouraged. Not sure about lawsuit-worthy but Im on the fence.

Trump is a unique case because he specifically told us never to trust official White House statements which have on more than one occasion contradicted his tweeted stances. This is why we have judges, to figure this shit out.

Whats an example of this just so I know what we are talking about

Theyve come out and said that Trump has violated their terms of use, but because he is President, his tweets are by definition newsworthy and are allowed to stay up. Even when he is personally attacking other Twitter users.

To close the loop on this: https://slate.com/culture/2018/02/an-interview-with-black-panthers-dialect-coach.html

tl;dr: The cadence is based on Xhosa, and the accents themselves are varied because the Wakandans are actually five tribes that have somewhat different origins. You don't hear this, because you don't have an ear for it, but it's definitely not British.

While the world economy stagnates, the model projects, cold countries will achieve almost unimaginable wealth. Iceland supposedly will achieve annual per capita income of $1.5 million by 2100, more than double that of any other country except Finland ($860,000). Mongolia, which currently ranks 118th in per capita income, is supposed to rise to seventh, at which point the average Mongolian will earn four times as much as the average American. Canadas economy becomes seven times as large as Chinas.

The movie was good though. It felt way more like a Bond movie than anything, mostly spy and tech stuff with very little in-suit action except for the obligatory paint-by-number final battle.

The themes had about as much nuance as a Marvel movie can have, but it was still pretty interesting with hyper-isolationism vs hyper-interventionism. Nothing controversial or risky in there at all though. The follies of traditionalism/nationalism was shown, but also traditionalism had a big part in the victory, and all the good guys remained deeply nationalist. Also multiple good guys were strongly interventionist as individuals, including the American who was somehow a good guy despite doing literally only bad things the entire movie. It's honestly impressive how inoffensive they made the movie given how it's entirely about politics.

There was a theme which was way more subtle and nuanced though which I didn't expect (and which I can't relate to at all), which is the idea of ancestral connection and going back to your roots but through the eyes of your new culture. Best exemplified by the bad guy's theme song which was just a generic dramatic Marvel theme but with a sick hip hop beat mixed in.
