as for LMR, it almost seems like you should have saved your money for taking Vivi's after getting his USB. but depending on how sure you are about pulling for it, you could just take it now.

i'm having some regret about Celes. i ran some calcs and found she can just barely outdamage Squall with just his BSB, and that's only with an ice-boosting weapon i don't have. and most other elements would be quite a bit weaker. and i hear about this banner coming in a few days with Rosa, Cloud, OK USBs, plus the fest after that which features tons of my favorites.

Edgar's Ultra and full dive "pretty good"

I was pulling closer to 50 seconds beforehand. Part of this was because I was using an improper Fire character (was just using Rydia + Vali) in that slot but yeah he's a bro.

Really tempted to draw once on this banner now since I'm xutting it real close. That rare tri cast or his Burst would probably give the little boost I need to easily get under 30s. Or any Locke relic for that matter since I do only have his chain

Papalymo's on my sub30 Isgebind team, he's not Vivi but doublecast infusion Meltdowns do pretty good damage, I have him equip Gathering Storm and he does 7500 per hit and later 9000+ with Mom Bomb's imperil and the burst mode buff (that may be my 3 King Bombs though)

Next FF14 event is supposed to star him so he should be getting a USB in two weeks in Japan.

I ended up grabbing Terra's OSB and Vivi's LMR. I figured when in doubt go for favoritism. A +fire hat with 38 Magic will come in handy, but more importantly it's Vivi's freaking hat! How can you pass that up?

So I did all of the Cid Missions on Torment level 3s. But I have come to one problem. I now have no way to get more 5* motes and I am in dire need of some 5* dex motes. Any idea if we will have more opportunities after the update?

I don't think any Legend Materia relic has become obsolete unless it was never good in the first place.

We should be getting a bunch of *5 motes during the fest in June as daily log ins, gift dungeons and rewards for beating the FFVII Weapons.

Relics are holding up better than they used to through, most of the best current USBs now are still top tier in Japan even after a year and half, even some BSBs are still holding up like Squall's and Raines. It's definitely not as bad as it was from the unique>Super>Burst power creep.

We're seeing a lot of the same faces in the top of the recent Altema charts after all.

Even the Gen 2 chains don't make the previous ones obsolete, since there's some people who prefer the quickcast +11 hits over the 50% attack/magic buff. Thankfully it's better this way since people are probably already focused on getting a variety of elemental relics to beat the Magicite giving them trouble rather than a general powercreep where we have to replace everything. And we're all going to busy trying to build teams for the new torments anyway since we're forced to use the same realm characters against those so Dena's still going to make profit off that alone since that makes relics that people ignored previously to highly sought after (IE Vaan and Ashe's USBs became huge prizes when the FF12 torment came out.)

Yeah. I think LMRs are kinda futureproof by nature anyway unless as said they were kinda sketch to begin with. Passive boosts are always good.

But yeah I think this game seems a lot better about this in general nowadays. That's half the reason I got back into this. So many of my guys are 100% team viable with ONE relic, and it's a USB when they've released several gimmicks since then. Hell I use Seph in my best Dark team and he just has the BSB2 from the anniversary selection. That would be practically unheard of in the past.

they do appear to be getting better about it, but until something other than wall actually holds up for 2 years i'm gonna be skeptical

and the way they've gone about it instead is to require 8x as many relics (and which is about to double again with torments). so actually, the ratio of usability is worse now compared to something that was the best for everything for 6 months unless this stuff lasts 4 or 8 years. Vivi's hat being one of the few exceptions as that's what makes him good for 5 out of 8 teams (though still only about 1 out of 17 teams in the newer sense)

Raines BSB is almost two years old and still holds up (at least with a dark/holy chain)

Also you can try to "shortcut" with magicite team building by investing in characters that are skilled in multiple elements IE Bartz, Orlandeau, Sora, Onion Knight, Celes ect and an etruster can take up a slot as well. Torment 2.0 and physical/immune *5 Magicite are BS I'll agree with you there but at least there's no time limit on them as far as we know (time limit in terms of crystals/orbs rewards for Magicite)

And 4-8 years? That's way too extreme of a time lapse, most mobile games don't even last that long. The game itself is only 3 and a half years old now, if the game lasts for 8 years bosses like Yiazmat would be wet paper.

Vaan BSB helps a lot against Demon, since most of his dangerous attacks are magical.

So I need to decide whether a slight boost to my fire team is worth another draw on the FFVI banner 1. With a slight boost I would go from having issues with reliably clearing the 4* Magicite under 30s to kinda stomping it, which lets me get a bunch of Ice Crystals easily.

The things that have me pausing is:

1. Celes stuff I like recurs in the banner that has Rydia's good Ultra on it in the "Spring Feast" in 4-5 months or so, so I'd be drawing on that anyway and likely getting Celes stuff I want then
2. Locke is cool but I'd actually much rather have Gilgamesh as my chain user since his chain is much better for my main fire team since it's physical and I like him better than Locke, but there are again Terra relics galore on that banner which makes me upset. His chain comes out sometime in June so that isn't too far off... now that being said
3. It's WAY BETTER to go for Gilgamesh's chain in the second banner of the FFV event that came out like 3 weeks ago in JP because I actually like the secondary relics on it, but that's a long way out

So like my options are:

1. Go for something for Locke now with just like one or two draws, and go for Gilgamesh's way down the line
2. Go for Gilgamesh's stuff soon and skip this

I'm leaning option 1, despite the Celes consolation prizes existing later as well, since I only need a small power boost in fire and not a large one. Ice 5* Magicite doesn't even exist in JP yet right?

i think with as much as you dislike Terra, you gotta go option 1. the fact that you already have Locke's chain means you won't be missing Gilgamesh too badly. i'm not sure about 5* ice magicite, but if you're right that it isn't even out yet in JP then you wouldn't even need Gilgamesh's for a single thing in that time span.

Vivi is a great man but realistically I don't think he's providing much of a boost otherwise I would've vaguely considered it since having a fire angle on magic would be nice too at some point.

But he's playing pretty far behind all three of the guys I've got now.

But yeah I think you're right. Galuf's Earth Chain is also on that Gilgamesh banner way out there too-- it honestly looks like a fest tier+ banner now that I digest it better.

i haven't actually done it yet but i'm pretty sure i am capable of sub-30ing Isgebind with Vivi without a chain, even. i got my first clear last night at 33 seconds and i noticed afterward that Edgar was using a weapon RM that he wasn't even equipped with.

It is kind of a weird spot where I am wondering exactly how much damage the chain is adding since Sabin can cap without the chain on his monk stuff, particularly once Edgar layers some imperils on.

Right now it's definitely making later fight burning snipes hit like a truck and Sabin's follow up but yeah.

By the time the winter fest comes out the crystal rewards for sub30 will be gone by then there's not much point to sub30ing magicite anymore unless more Arcana is your goal. It's now or never if you want those crystals (at least for 3~ months)

Gilgamesh is a double edged sword for Isgebind over Locke where even though he has a better chain he lacks the ranged options Locke does so he can't do much besides dragoon moves when Isgebind is flying and he's way slower than Locke. That said Bartz' USB is also on that banner (at long as Dena doesn't change it) which is useful for sub30ing other magicite.

5* Ice magicite was announced earlier (they are being opened in weakness order so wind is next then earth then either dark/holy) speaking of 5* magicite the fire ones came out recently and people still have no respect for water mages. Seems like the most popular ways of beating the physical immune boss is Onion Knight, Vivi and Palom and even Kimihari's water Radiant Shield or still sticking with physical teams despite the huge physical damage resistance.

Well Gilgamesh can equip every weapon type so you can just give him a thrown weapon to solve the problem there, right? I was actually blessed with Lann's Fire Boosting thrown even (that's what Locke currently uses) so it wouldn't even really change my team gearing.

Honestly though that guy hardly stays in the air at all I don't see it as being too tough to play around. I already do it with Sabin Ult activation since while his Inner Fire can hit in the air his Ultra can't.

Why can't Gilgamesh use guns?

If you're barely sub30ing Isgebind then those turns where he stays in the air where Gilgamesh can't reach could cost you the sub30. The only real answer Gilgamesh has is doublecast samurai if you want to keep resetting for them so Isgebind only flies once.

I'd imagine Gilgamesh's chain being better and overall stronger hitz + possible dualcast making up for that

I mean Locke is currently basically chain + 4x8000 or so every turn after that. He ain't great DPS.

To be fair Locke is also a lot faster than Gilgamesh, especially dived with Trance mode. He's still ranked higher than Gilgamesh in Altena despite the weaker chain as well (though that might because of his AOSB)

1/11 Celes Burst

One of the worst possibilities and moves the needle not at all for anything. I've been getting way too many 1/11s lately.

I dunno if I wanna do another I only have 170 mythril left. Well decent amount of realms left so realistically a lot more than that but still. Realistically my odds of getting a relic I want hasn't changed though as that was one of the four relics on the banner I didn't want at all (this one, Edgar USB dupe, and the two Sabin ones)

Did some more runs of Isgebind tonight

I think I should probably be able to reliably sub 30 him with what I have so at least going dead on the banner isn't the end of the world, as my success rate was over 50%. I think number of dualcast and imperil procs is what's deciding it as it is close.

Just gotta fully optimize my strategy and possibly farm some more 4* fire magicite from Marilis to make it a little more reliable, which I can do it's just not a sub 30.

i killed Isgebind a few more times (one of them sub-30!) and arcana'd a Krysta to 99 (didn't have a 3* ice at 99 so it satisfied that as well). also arcana'd my hydra, shell dragon and enkidu. too bad i couldn't progress further into 4* magicite, that's a bunch of arcana i'm missing forever, plus the 2 mythril.

If you have enough ice 4* magicite you can try to beat Tiamat for some sylph magicite so their fast act level 8 can help with better sub30's in general.

I can almost beat Tiamat. I've had some close runs using Snow Ayame Lulu Minwu Rikku. Issue there is the damage ramp is kinda harsh. Also I should probably drop Rikku for someone else honestly I was mostly just using her for Hyper Mighty G and to try and counter Tiamat's buffs since you can steal power to cancel her power steal but I'm not really sure it helps enough to matter. Once I get a fully decked out 4* Magicite set for Ice I'm going to give her another try since the whole Cid's Missions factor is gone I can take a bit of time on it.

i literally used Rikku with Hyper Mighty G and the 1* boost skill for Isgebind. i guess i could just use Y'shtola instead and RW raider to be slightly more safe, since this boss doesn't need shell.

i tried Tiamat quite a while ago for fun and was actually able to half kill her with Raijin SSB entrust strats. that was with limited magicite and only one competent DPS, so i think it might actually work with Squall + Celes once i get a good ice deck. plus having that one dark magicite at lv99 helps a lot for last stand strats, forget what it's called.

pulled on the new banner, got 1/11 Rosa USB. finally, one of the truly great heals (now that we're about to get better ones <_<). there's still a few good things left for me on that banner and i dont have many dupes but i think i gotta stop there. it's better quality 5*s than most banners, but only four 6*s, one of which i now have and one of which i really don't want.

also did the acolyte draws. only notable things i got were Papalymo's BSB and maybe Agrias's SSB. also i got both Terra and Rydia's Minerva Bustiers, which i found really weird.

Pulled on the Overhaul Banner. Got 2 each of Onion Blade, Healers Circlet, and Ninja Gear.

That makes four total Healers Circlets apparently, since the one I have is 6*. The others are new though.
