Of course it's vanilla. Two years worth just means he hasn't ejaculated in the last two years. It's not like it's some huge quantity or something.

Lots of series have web novels for the original story. Re:Zero, Overlord, etc. Fate/Stay Night is based on stories Nasu wrote in high school. Malazan Book of the Fallen is based on a DnD campaign. None of the originals are canon anymore.

Re:Zero currently continues on in both published and web novel format, with significant variations between them.

Considering it's still ongoing I severely doubt he's approaching the webnovels with the mentality of "none of this matters".

Whoa, in the third episode of Wotakoi the dude had not one but two Kobeni figures! Engaged to the Unidentified is great, he has good taste (though sadly those figures don't seem to actually exist or else I would buy them). I'm enjoying Wotakoi a lot more than I thought I would, too.

Anyway, I'm finally watching everything I care about and I'm caught up on most things so here's a ranking of the season so far if anyone is interested. I'm watching less than I was in winter but I think the overall quality is better this season. I haven't even dropped anything yet. (Shows carrying over from last season are ranked by the newer episodes only, Katana Maidens is still barely ahead of Hinamatsuri overall)

Been reading Tokyo Ghoul. Don't know when the anime started compared to where the manga was at at the time, but it's kind of amazing how changing that one thing at the very end of it totally fucks it all up.

Thats pretty much what it looked like. Ive been having fun with Danmachi mobile still, but goddamn Very Hard difficulty stuff is challenging and I cant really seem to find any tips for the game. It sucks because Hard isnt an issue, but Very Hard seems to need better equipment which sorta requires being able to beat the hardest stuff.

OK, good. Just want to make sure. Real shame how the scans of those last few dozen chapters there were around "original JoJo Part 5 scans" tier.

Struggling to decide if I want to watch the show or go into the manga. I've heard it's a good adaptation so far, but I have NO FAITH in Pierrot to not fuck it up.

they are given another cour for the anime so have a little faith for the first season at least

first season is all but guaranteed to follow the manga as closely as possible

second season they might take a few liberties and skip ahead if they don't think they will get another cour >_>

On another note, does anyone know if the Goblin Slayer LN starts out as edgelordy as the manga? I see a LOT of people getting hyped for the White Fox anime in fall, but the manga had one of the most repugnant first chapters I've ever read, so much that I completely wrote it off.

Finished reading Dragon Ball. Pretty cool manga! The Buu arc was definitely bad. There were certainly good parts (mostly the stuff that didn't involve Buu), but Buu himself is terrible. Even worse than Cell. I guess he was supposed to be funny or something, but he really wasn't. Didn't really work in combination with him killing more people than any of the other villains. Someone I know mentioned the redeeming factor of this arc being that it's short and fast-paced, but...it wasn't. It's still over 100 chapters long, and a lot of the stuff that happens isn't that interesting. There are more gags, but they're way slower than they used to be. Early Dragon Ball has a new gag every page (or even panel), and the Buu arc uses that same type of gag, but stretched over a full chapter instead. It doesn't work.

Anyway, the rest of the series was mostly good. The pacing is mostly excellent throughout (even in the Cell saga), and it has a cool evolution from action comedy to more pure action. I prefer the more serious stuff, starting with Demon King Piccolo (which was an awesome arc), but the early parts of DBZ are just the best. The Saiyan saga is pretty short, but even though I've seen it in the anime at least twice before, I was riveted when reading the manga version. Frieza is still great too, and it's sad that the following two major villains are just copies of Frieza. Back in the day Future Trunks and Vegeta were probably my favorite characters, and while they're still great, especially Vegeta in the Buu arc (Actual Dad Vegeta was perfect for modern DBZ), I found myself liking Goku more than anyone this time. He does have his issues early on, but his development throughout the series is awesome, and he's the real highlight of the last few sagas. All the non-combat scenes with him are tons of fun.

The one area of weakness relative to other series is the lack of emotionally powerful scenes, IMO. Other battle shounen try to have some serious drama that moves you or makes you sad or emotional or whatever, or even like, I dunno, certain chapters of Slam Dunk that have no dialogue and are just teammates working together perfectly and you feel their friendship hard, but DB doesn't really go for that much. Not saying that was a bad decision, but effective moments like that really lift up a series I think. The lack of teamwork in general in the series is odd, though I guess mangaka in general suck at drawing teamwork in action.

I am totally fine being in the minority of people who think Goku and Frieza arent good. The last time I even liked Goku was when he was a kid really. When he grows up all that really changes is his body so hes basically a giant manchild and then he becomes so obsessed with fighting he basically neglects literally everything else in his life. Like I am amazed he even really cared when Frieza blew up Krillin because he appeared to have spent maybe all of 5mins with him in the last several years lol

He definitely develops as the series goes along. Cares much more about stuff. Spends a lot more time with Gohan between Frieza and Cell sagas, and has better relationships with people in general. Gets to be less obsessed with winning and more intelligent. Maybe it doesn't come across as well in the anime as in the manga.

I mean Im not saying he doesnt develop at all, but Goku is very clearly immature and Super goes even further with it from what I hear. I suppose he gets slightly more intelligent, but Id still say Goku is much dumber than the average human in the DB world.

You're just using that as a catch all term for being reckless or something.

I definitely agree with the writing in the Buu Saga not being good though. Its all over the place, abandons what it sets up for like half or more of it and ends in a pretty bad way too. There were some nice parts, but more bad than good. Also has one of Gokus lowest moments of all time that magically doesnt have any sort of impact whatsoever because lolmeaningfulwritinginDBZ

Goku is literally dumb though. If it doesnt concern fighting hes a total idiot. I dont mean reckless, naive or anything else even though hes definitely those things as well. Hes an actual idiot that would likely fail any sort of mental exam. Id honestly be surprised if he could write more than his own name

The english dub isn't great for DR1. Dub is the way to go for DR2, though. V3 can go either way, prefer the dub though (localization has some issues).

Ive never seen anyone until today claim Goku was anything other than an idiot! A lot of the examples would just be comedy moments from the series because thats where his stupidity aka total lack of common knowledge is played up due to how he was raised, but even after growing up he seemingly never took any time to actually learn about non-fighting things. Hes never cared to or had a reason to after all. Hes always gonna be like that so he can say something dumb for a good laugh like how he somehow grew to be 40-50 years old and didnt know what kissing is despite having two children....

And he didn't take his heart medicine for his deadly heart disease.

For the medicine, he wasn't supposed to take it until after he started showing symptoms. So he doesn't, and then he takes it after he starts showing symptoms.

Edit - appears to be from Super apparently. Doesnt really surprise me because Gokus probably never done anything romantic or sexual ever. Wouldnt even be surprised if Chichi took his seed when he slept to impregnate herself

I said Id be surprised if he could write more than his name because his name is all he needs to participate in the WT probably. Theres no reason to believe he has any sort of education beyond elementary school level at best. I mean really what sort of intelligence do you expect the guy to have?
