What's your team?

Setzer (Double Dice enhanced), Mystea, Barb, Lexa, LM Fina

Mystea rotates between Clear Veil (for Stop protection), Tritela Wall, and Destination for damage mitigation. LM Fina mostly spammed Manatopia, but was there for Full Life and her non-reflectable healing abilities for the ST magic attacks that Mystea decided not to block. Barb and Lexa chain single-cast Tornados while Setzer capped with Double Dice. It took me upwards of 80-90 turns and about an hour-and-a-half to finish, but I needed Mystea for the Stop protection and I couldn't figure out a build for her that let her survive Carbuncle's onslaught when he shifted to Dark Mode.

Looks like of that first list, all I get is Orlandeau. I might as well up him since I have him, but I don't think I have the Cactuars in any way, shape, or form to get him to max level.

I mean, if you had LM Fina, you could have just stuck Reraise on Mystea, prep for Dark Phase, have Mystea tank the big shot and revive, damage, then dispel and just prep for the next dark phase proc.

As long as Mystea can get her mag protect up next turn you'd be fine.

Tried that. Mystea took so much damage that she died a second time, followed by most of my party being wiped out. All I had left was Barb and Noctis, and that wasn't going to let me recover. I wasn't going to waste a ton of stamina on this either, so I just decided to take the long route. Mostly I was gimped because the gear I had to put on for 150% light resist didn't let me get her SPR up past ~560, and she just doesn't have enough HP to tank a whole lot of hits. I'd have used Basch, but I needed someone for Stop resist without losing damage dealers, and figured I could survive with Mystea.

For being as hyped as she was, I'm really disappointed in her as a unit. I've never had any luck trying to clear content with her as a magic tank, and I praise the RNG gods for giving me a Basch because he's just so much better.

Dark Fina is the only one of that group of 7* starters that I can do.

I don't have her TMR, and I've never used her, so still on the fence if I really want to spend all the resources getting her there or just wait since I'll be for sure using Trance Terra's 7* and possibly BS Sakura's when they come around (and how many 7* Mages will I really need?).

Curious to see the 7*s and STMRs people have ready. Maybe one of these days I'll open up that spreadsheet thing and try to find a way to incorporate that.

The only STMR I'll have is Noctis'. I have 6 of him, and I think I'd rather have two 7*s and an STMR instead of three 7*s of him.

I need one more Balthier and Ace to get STMRs for either of them. Any other 7* I have ready to go, I only have 2 of the unit.

Hmmmm... Maybe use background colors for the cells? White for 1, another color for 2, 3, 4+?

The thing with Mystea that kinda hampers her is, I think, her equipment. Her kit is pretty damn solid, but she can't do elemental protection as well as Basch, who has more equips at his disposal.

Or we could simply put:

(YES x3) if we have three copies of a unit (e.g.), and separate tabs for 5* base 7* acquisition and a (Y) or (N) for STMR next to the YES for any 7* we have.

I would have 1 column for the number amount of each unit, and then YES columns for 7* and STMR.

That way we can make formulas for
-how many have the unit
-how many copies total across the board
-how many have 7*
-how many have the STMR.

That would be better for calculations, but the spreadsheet would get really big and bloated then, since we'd have 3 columns for each unit. Depends on what the actual use of the spreadsheet is for though, since I don't know the original intent.

If it's just for showing who has what in case someone needs help, color coding will be a lot faster for people to skim and get what they need. If it's for calculations color coding is terrible because you can't use it for auto calculations, so additional columns is the better method.

Anyone know what the purpose of the sheet is?

It was originally to keep track of who had what 5* so people could request certain friend units.

At this point, you guys can use it for whatever you want, which is why I made it editable by anyone.

It was to nuke the "who got who I forgot, can I suggest you use X because you haven't thought of that for Y battle, and I need a specific unit to help me through this battle."

This is what I use to build teams.

You can log in using your gmail and set units, tmrs, inventory, materia/abilities and espers to make sure it doesnt choose shit you dont have when building.

Initial set up is time consuming but once you get it all in there keeping it up-to-date is easy.

Yeah, I was probably too worried that Carbunkle would be a jerk and target someone other than who he was supposed to with insta-death, and so I just wanted a provoker with Genji Shield to guarantee safety. Should've just swapped the provoker out for Basch and gone the route you did. I may still if I feel like getting that 4* ticket, because for some stupid reason despite Tornado being part of the chain that killed him, it didn't give me the magic kill mission.

Really, the frustration is more about how everyone talked her up as the most important unit to get when she came out, how vital it was to have her for clearing content, and how impossible any magic-based content would be without her. While I get that, and I for sure would probably appreciate her more if I didn't have Basch, I have been so underwhelmed with her that I just can't understand the hype. Trials that she was supposed to be used for almost kill my Basch, and if he could barely take those hits, what chance would she have had?

We could also combine the two. Instead of just putting YES, we could list the numbers we have and the corresponding color so calculations could also be done.

What prep and what trials?

My Mystea did fine even during Malboro since I fattened her DEF.

Her shortcomings comes in terms of HP and SPR if you compare with others since you need equip materias for some fights. (But 30-40%+ mitigation can elevate it somewhat.)

Mostly I just remember her not being able to take all of the magic attacks in from Bloody Moon, although I guess some of that was I was stupid and wasn't using a provoke tank for the physical attacks. I'm likely just overstating my case, because it was about when that trial was kicking my butt that I decided to take my break, and by the time I came back I had a Basch to raise up and get ready to go. This recent Carbunkle run hasn't done anything to improve my opinion of her of course, but I'm not about to run a few trials of him again just to see if I can gear her or my team to survive. It just isn't worth it.

There are vids with Moon using her.

It is very important to have a provoke tank, since only Awakened Rain normally can provoke and use AoE tanking.

Sure, I made my Chow provoke, stop proof and aoe tank against Carbuncle myself, but that was more an experiment with Setzer when I beat it.

It comes down to gearing for Mystea since she got less leeway than the others to mess up.

I can't get anything exceptional to go with rare abilities. But I do now have a Bowie Knife with High Tide and MP/Spr +10%s for Nichol, which I'll take.

Did not realize Sephiroth chained with Onion Knight. I suddenly feel like I should think about developing the Onion Knight I have.

I also just got a SPR+15/12/10% setup on a Bowie Knife. It won't help her magic any, but I think that'll work fairly well for Rem or anyone else who needs a good SPR buff. Wish I could've gotten that on something else, but oh well.

Crap, I actually had my first loss in the Item World. I mistimed a chain and got blasted by the 9F boss. Thought he'd be more physical, so I had Basch go for the physical cover; turns out he mostly used magic. I wasn't getting anything great, I was only up to ATK +15% total on the gun I was making, but it's still annoying.

So just to ask, does the Xon/Pilfer/Increased Gil ability still work wonders for raids for making money?

I got FFB fully upgraded finally! Are any of Fryevia's other abilities worth enhancing?

DP is mostly for a DW build, but +2 does give a flat +30% Atk/Def/Mag/Spr just for using a sword regardless.

C&C+2 gives +30% HP and some ice resist.

I never bothered with the other attack.

Just enhanced Xon. He'll steal max gil with waylay and also give you max gil at the end of battle. He's a one man gil machine.
