I said I think Ness is a bit too strong for the fodder line, but if he loses to Shadow, I'd reassess that statement. I also think Shadow is one of those characters of whom you can now say, "If you can't beat this guy, you suck."

I mean I have Shadow > Ness so I guess I'm being inherently contradictory but whatever consistency is overrated

I took Shadow but man do I feel bad about it. I mostly picked him because I like him more than Ness and didn't want to pick Ness either.

Shadow is the one Sonic character in the bracket that's not in Sonic Mania, and although that's not going to be a huge boost for the guys who are in, any boost would be enough to make him over Ness something I feel good about.

Shadow has just sucked for a long time so I can buy him being a fodder line. I think he would beat Pac-Man, very narrowly at that.

I think no modern Sonic game matters to the contests. Sonic and his friends have strength based purely on what was relevant in 1990-2006. Shadows performance against Mario that one time was an abberation.

Eh, I think Sonic Mania matters because it reviewed and sold extremely well for a Sonic game. Now I don't know that it'll do a ton for the characters, but it'll be enough to keep them from falling further than they already have.

Eh, I think I'd go Sonic > Knuckles >= Shadow > Tails > Robotnik myself.

The gap between Knux and Robotnik probably isn't huge though.
