With the double user vote, does it make sense for Luigi/Mega Man X to beat Tifa but lose to Sephy is the big question- or are the two secondary FF characters so close in strength that this is highly unlikely.

I have Tifa winning her bracket but given how strong the registered user vote is for X/Luigi I am having second thoughts.

By the way- on the podcast everyone was banging on about X being also equal to Mega Man - how could you possibly say this given their respective performances?

I argued against X = Classic! I've never thought that, hence why I have Tifa > MMX. I also had Ryu > MMX in 2013, but that one didn't work out so well for me (thankfully Draven diverted attention away from that pick lawl).

But if Luigi/X beats Tifa in a close one, do they also beat Sephy?

I am curious as to how close in strength you think they are now.

Also, one thing that I don't think has been considered at all is that we will have a KH reddit building up to fever pitch in anticipation of KH3 by the time the finals bracket rolls around. I think they could they be rallied to vote for Sephy- though not a main character, he was an iconic character in both KH1 and 2. Certainly I don't think it will be enough to overcome what is probably a 55/45 base split to Mario once registered votes are accounted for, but I think it is worth considering.

I think it's possible. I wouldn't bet on it though, especially with Tifa/Sephy because that's an FFVII hierarchy situation. I have a hard time thinking she's just completely surpassed him within the fanbase. I guess if Sephy just gets overwhelmed with anti-votes from those outside the fanbase, maybe it could happen.

From that I infer that it would be silly to have Luigi/X over Tifa then losing to Sephy. Therefore anyone that has Luigi/X winning the bracket should pretty much have them going over Sephy....which is not the case currently.

I mean I think there's room to beat Tifa but lose to Sephy all the same, but yeah.

I feel like I asked this in the previous topic, but it's purged and I can't view it, so I'll ask (again?) anyway.

What are the chances of Bowser making a run because of a rally due to Bowsette? I guess the meme is dying, but could it still be enough to give him an extra boost in votes?

I wouldn't bet on it, but the internet is a weird and unpredictable thing these days. I think the thing that might squash Bowsette from mattering is the fact that Bowser won't be able to get any Bowsette pics in any of his matches because it's all fan art.

I didn't include villains who eventually become heroes or at least join your party or something (like Edgeworth, Donkey Kong, or Magus), but it's still a rather loose definition of "villain" since it includes Godot and The Boss

Also I actually really like Ganondorf. Probably my favorite Zelda character other than Midna.

Particularly WW Ganon is great. I love his scenes towards the end of the game.

I mean people could've pointed out how stupid that pick was! They just didn't because they were all in awe of Draven!

I also didn't have a bet or anything riding on it.

Also Ryu lost to MMX straight up in that match. It just got overshadowed by Draven, so no, this is nothing like your welching situation.
