My bracket is built on the assumption that Gamefaqs voters will side with Mario and Square over Pokemon. And it's unregistered users that have made Pokemon overperform. So double vote means Red can't beat Sora, Charizard can't beat Bowser, Mewtwo can't beat Tifa, and Pikachu can't beat Yoshi.

On the other hand, if you have Pokefear, you should have all of them winning those matches. Doesn't make sense to me to take only Pikachu.

I have Mario beating Snake then losing to him.

I'm about 10% confident of it.

TBH, I can't see any "reasonable" way you can pick for a character in one match and then losing to that same character later. Like, I get the romanticism behind it, but I think at the end of the day, unless its truly a 50-50 match , you would need a significant number of people to change their minds or some crazy rally that didn't exist the first time around, as the match was happening, and I can't really see that. The only one would be a Link runback I would consider with a rally as you guys alluded to. Otherwise, any rally pushback would happen during the first match in question. Doing the same thing and expecting different results...

Or if course if you want to hedge your bets...

Snake makes a comeback because people will really want to avoid Link > Mario in the finals.

Crono makes a comeback because this is fucking Board 8. If he doesn't win the first time people will find a way to replace him with a Crono doll or something and make him comeback stronger in the loser's bracket.

I tried to! They didn't really give me much of a chance to argue against yoblazer's and Ng's supposition that Snake will just get "put in his place" by the Nintendo hierarchy...! But even if Mario beats Snake the first time, I think Snake > Mario the second time is a good pick because my word we absolutely need to avoid a Link/Mario final match.

I think Snake > Samus is a no-brainer at this point for me. Snake/Mario is tougher, but I still lean toward Snake.

Cracking show boys, I listened to all four hours and loved every minute of it.

Im taking Mega Man over Crono.

MM11 got rave reviews. Bunch of MM collections are out on multiple consoles. Hes in Smash. He hasnt beat a NN in a 1v1 since 2005 because he was fed to Snake and Mario.

He's also lost to Samus, Crono, Cloud, and Link since then, too. Even if he had faced Sephiroth before 2013, he wouldn't have beaten him either. For a long time, he was only capable of beating Sonic and Crono. Maybe that's changed, but we'll see soon enough...!

I googled MM11 and didn't really get "rave" reviews, it was a bunch of 7 and 8. That doesn't really sound like something that can boost a N9 into the elite.

Id take him over Crono and Sonic, thats it.

I think hes had reason to boost in strength.

I guess the missing puzzle piece would be figuring out what caused Megaman to beat Zard.

But apparently there was a MM rally, and you could also atribute that to anti-voting due to Zard already stomping in 2010 (never mind that a lot of the fanbase hates Zard), so I'm satisfied with it.

I could still see Pikachu having legit strength compared to Red, Mewtwo and Charizard. Face of the brand and all that

I mean for a Mega Man game those are pretty good reviews

Mega Man isn't going to pull a whole lot of new fans in at this point with a new game. He just needs to give the people who like him already a reason to vote for him again.

I had already posted about this in the contest stats topic, but the potential impact of the earlier match start time should include more pronounced trends because registered users will have more time to vote in the match prior to going to sleep. The registered user bonus also contributes towards the larger trend shifts since these votes will be more concentrated towards the start of the match.

We might also see a more pronounced overnight vote as the North American voters will have more time to vote in the match prior to going to sleep. This should also result in a lower than expected turnout from North America during the overnight hours, making the Europe vote even stronger during this time.
