I have felt Hayward has been overrated when they made a big deal about him going to Boston. I think the potential of him and Kyrie got everyone excited and him being injuried left a ton of What If questions.

Boston will figure it out, they have a lot of talent, but they need to make it work together

He's a really good player. I don't think heis a superstar though. I think he had big fish in a small pond syndrome in Utah. Now he is more of an average fish in a post with a lot of people tapping on the glass and he still has some band aids on the fins. I'll take a flyer on him and give him time, but I dont see him carrying a team through any big games on his own

Am I the only one irked by the artificially increased scoring pace this year? I get resetting the shot clock to less than 24 but why not make it 18 for example?

Teams scoring 141 points a night just makes a mockery of the game. Its so infuriating

I'd rather that than teams get an offensive rebound and pass it around for 24 seconds before shooting. Theoretically despite the higher scoring, it encourages better defense too. Since it's easier to defend for 14 seconds than 24.

This should also allow for more swingy results / comebacks as it's harder for teams to take time off the clock. And teams running down the clock in any sport annoys me far more than higher scoring

I don't see how that matters at all. I've never seen someone analyze losses and say "well they did lose to these teams so are they really in first place?"

as much as I dislike embiid, are he and simmons of questionable behavior? Embiid to me seems like he just likes getting in people's heads as an advantage, not out of any sort of mean-spiritedness. And I don't remember anything bad about simmons.

I couldn't think of the right word to use and "behaviour" seemed to be the closest thing to describe what Embiid does.

It's a combination of a massive ego and generally acting questionable, for better or for worse.

Right but it depends on the protections. What if they were 1-20 protected? Or lotto protected? They weren't given them 4 1sts if they were potential lotto picks, especially for ones that are far out where they don't know how good the team will be then

If my understanding of protection is right even if they fell into a protected slot it would mean they would get the next year pick unrestricted, so you basically change it from 7 years to 8 years

Not always the case. Sometimes the pick doesn't convey at all or instead changes to a 2nd rounder or multiple 2nds instead

Happened to Orlando recently when Lakers got Lonzo Ball. Magic owned Lakers pick that year but it was Top 3 protected so we got their 2nd rounder instead which to me is bullshit. Especially when you look at the Top 5 that year

We also own Thunders 1st in I want to say 2020 or something that is top 20 protected and if it doesn't convey we get seconds instead

Yes. Lakers had the 3rd worst record that year and got 2 in the lotto so the pick conveyed as a 2nd.

The Magic also won 3 games in the last 5 or so to drop to 5th worst in the league instead of 3rd worst. So we shot ourselves in the foot doubly. We could have potentially had 2nd and 5th pick instead of the 6th we ended up with. Basically we could have had Lonzo Ball and Isaac (since another PG went 5th) or Tatum plus Deaaron Fox. Instead we got Isaac and Iwundu

Lebron has been visible upset a few times already that they havent run away with this game already

Expect mad Lebron soon. This is going to be a good game to league pass now about halfway through the third quarter
