RDR1 ended with Marston getting shot up by the government, then his son taking vengeance on the head lawman a few years later

RDR2 is a prequel so you don't need to know any of that, set in 1899. (RDR was 1911)

Im just starting chapter two. I really want to play the game in first person mode - its more immersive and pretty cool with the details being more apparent. I also think I shoot better. Turned off head bobbing, might change a few more settings.

Biggest issue though is riding a horse first person is pretty tough, and its cool seeing your outfit and the animations Arthur does in third person.

Outside of this quandary the game is great.

I'm still pretty early on and I don't quite know how I feel about it. I wanna play about and mess with the AI and stuff, but you get punished with a bounty for doing basically anything and I never have the money to pay it off and bounty hunters keep ruining scripted events for me. Like, they showed up in the middle of one and the second half just didn't trigger as a result.

Also, I'm bad at horses. They fall down a lot when I ride them.

Bumped into some guys and they beat me up, shopkeeper jumps me too, I run to sheriffs and they dont stop them. I defend myself and the sheriff shoots me!

We've had a good number of goofs already but this pretty much seals that a PC version is coming. I'd wager it's actually already done and they're doing a 1 year gap for maximum double dip money. Can't say I approve, but that's (one reason) why I'm not playing it until that version is out!

Just got to Chapter 3.

I had a moment where I tried to stop a dude that was robbing a stagecoach, only to get wanted for kidnapping, leading to me stopping a witness and getting wanted for unarmed assault, so I got on my house and ran like hell. Was hilarious.

I am not a fan of how cumbersome looting things is though.

While funny at first, I'd say that's my biggest complaint. It's hard to do anything without having everything escalating.

Another example, rode by two riders and they said something like "don't be riding up here" and continued on. I antagonized them and then instantly turned around to shoot me. I defended myself and killed both. As I left a wagon came by and began their investigation or whatever since we were pretty remote. Eventually it said the law was after me. Once they caught me in their sights it was impossible to escape them. I was off my horse at the time so I ran away, cutting uphills, through trees but nothing broke their attack (they were also on foot). As soon as I call for my horse and book it they somehow also generated horses and were able to follow me everywhere.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I be using my bandana to hide my face? I try not to escape at first and deescalate things but they always shoot me regardless.

OK so I hunted this legendary bear. I took the pelt to a trapper and made a cool hat. But I still have the pelt? Which I guess means I can make more stuff out of it? Is there some place for me to store this? Because right now it's taking up the back of my horse and I don't think I can just keep it there forever.

If you take it back to camp it should go away or at least can be donated to Pearson.

Just started chapter 2.

I already like it more than the first game. And while some complaints are warranted (looting), I really like how people in this day and age complain about everything especially how slow it is.

Wish I have more time to play because work keeps piling on whenever I have a game I really want to play.

Is there a way to change clothes to ones you already bought?

I was messing around and found this staircase that let me evade the law forever. When you kill people in it, their bodies crumple at the bottom of the staircase. There's no other way in, so new officers have to waddle and stumble over the corpses making them easy targets and generating more bodies to pile up. Also, I accidentally shot a lamp and set the house on fire which burned the giant pile of corpses to a crisp. Neat little detail there.

Anyway, I'm not sure if it was because all the lag the massive pile of dead bodies caused or whatever but I fell through the wall and into a featureless void. That was good time to stop playing I thought.

I wandered around the area for like an hour and never found that damn horse. Apparently it's supposed to be a guaranteed spawn? Doesn't seem that way to me.

My biggest disappointment is being forced to use cinematic camera for your horse to follow the trail automatically. My horse also died this way because it ran into a stagecoach that I couldn't even see coming because cinematic camera is fucking stupid.

I have some more gripes with the game but overall it's still pretty good, so I don't wanna get too negative about it.

If you go to buy a horse in the stables, there should be an Ardennes that costs $0 you can pick up.

Well, this game is fucking amazing so far. I just got to Horshoe Overlook. The thing handles a little clunky, which is something I'm finding more and more. I think it has to do with the fact that I played Metal Gear Solid V most of the summer and pretty much all games feel clunky after the handling in that one. I'll get used to it though. Gunfighting is SO MUCH FUN.

The auto steering the horse occasionally does to avoid obstacles causes more problems than it solves for me, especially when I'm trying to weave through trees.

What's the best way to rid yourself of your bounty. I try to surrender but they always shoot me. Can you go to jail and wait it off so you don't have to pay?

Are your guns stored anywhere besides your horse? I've bought a few but have held off on more because I feel like I've lost some.

I tried playing this with remote play over Xbox Live, but its wayyyyyy too dark at night (even in houses you have to have your lantern out to see), and the lag spikes when things get hot are dangerous.

So I cant get back to it until my son gets out of the hospital.

But I did manage to do the Mary and Jamie mission.

If you know the one Im talking about, whatd you think? It pretty much singlehandedy shot Arthur Morgan near the top of my best character list.

So say I tame a wild horse... how do I get it back to the stable to sell it without leaving my horse stranded in the wilderness?

Fast travel unlocked... finally

Just ride it back. When you get to the stable you can stable the wild horse, and then automatically retrieve your current horse that's stranded.

OR, if you whistle while you're on the wild horse, it will follow you back.

FYI - I have found that selling wild horses is not a great money maker.

So that movie theater you can go to is really weird. Usually entertainment in GTA games is meant to be a parody of something and have hidden jokes in the subtext, but here I think Rockstar has finally lost their minds. It's literally just some weird morality play that would probably exist in that time period. There doesn't appear to be any hidden joke behind it, they just decided to write, animate, and voice a regular, somewhat boring filmstrip. They've really gone too far with side stuff like this
