The Patriots got blown out by the Titans lol. The Titans aren't awful or anything but they're probably the NFL team I most often tend to forget about.

I'm sure they'll still coast to another playoff bye though

I feel it must be said that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best games I've ever played in my life. It's massive and incredible and I hope it never ends.

I just finished God of War which was great, and I'll probably start Red Dead soon; maybe today. I want to see what all this fuss is about.

Mariota seems like such a perpetual disappointment. He's basically in the Alex Smith tier of QBs who aren't good enough to win you anything significant but good enough to not want to take the risk of moving on. I guess he is better than Famous Jameis at least when you look at the big picture

Of course Alex Smith is better and giving up on him seemed to pay off for the two teams who did it before (at least for a little while), so I dunno, maybe the Titans should give up on Mariota. But the Niners and Chiefs also were able to line up replacements in his backup and obviously for the Titans Blaine Gabbert isn't the answer

He's at the end of his contract so they're going to have to decide whether they don't want him at all or if they're going to pay him too much for too many years. Letting him go and drafting a QB to start week 1 isn't ideal, but neither is tying up your salary cap with mediocrity.

It feels like we're going to get the Saints in the Super Bowl, which blows. I mean, who else do you trust in the NFC to get there, the Rams? They've been hyped up all season (and earlier) and that never seems to work out unless the team is the Patriots. Of course I'm sure a couple people here wouldn't be happy with the Rams going that far either.

There are very few teams I don't want to see in the Superbowl and it changes year to year. I usually don't like seeing teams go year after year (except for the Bills because it was to me at the time wondering if this would be the year they won). Normally I wouldn't want the Patriots in it again but I would be okay if they were playing against the Saints or Rams. I like when teams are evenly matched (or close to it) not when one team is favored by quite a bit.

I don't think there are that many plausible matchups where one team is a huge favorite. Stuff like Saints vs. Titans maybe, but come on, that ain't happening. And I'd still probably rather see the Saints cruise in a boring SB over the Titans than see the Patriots even appear at all

Melo's reps are trying to find him a new team (he hasn't been waived by the Rockets officially yet fyi). I have a hard time picturing what NBA team would want him at this point. If he wants to just go chuck bricks and not play defense somewhere then maybe he can do that on a tanking team but there's no real reason for a tanking team to add him unless they just feel like doing him a favor

Lmao who would do this. Why

That sounds identical to Twins/Timberwolves standing room only tickets, where you're not assigned a seat but after 15 minutes of game-time you can stroll down to one of the top 10 rows and take one of the many unoccupied seats.

Does anyone have any good "moving down closer to empty seats" stories?

I'm sure I've done it before but can't really think of any specific examples. I've never gotten right next to the field or anything. Usually it's just like going from the upper section to the upper-middle section. Or just moving down within the same section since the ushers don't usually care beyond what section you're in

My friends and I had upper deck seats when we went to two games at Wrigley, and we tried to get behind home plate and were rejected. But we did end up sitting in the section behind that section so that was somewhat cool. 8th and 9th innings. I normally don't try to move that far down, but it's fucking Wrigley so we tried

Was that at all close to home plate? One time I got free Rockies tickets and they were two or three sections back (up?) from home plate. Being right behind home plate would be cool obviously but I think it's weird in the upper sections. That's the only time I had seats like that

I actually have a couple.

One was from earlier this baseball season. A group of us had cheap Twins tickets, and were trying to meet up with a group of friends who had lower level tickets. It was around the 5th/6th inning in the Twins were getting blown out by the Brewers, so we walked down to the field level around 3rd base. Usually you have to show your ticket before going into that part of the ballpark, but we somehow snuck by and sat in some empty seats by our friends, but shortly after, the ushers/security found us and asked us to leave, so we did. As we were leaving, this guy behind us said something like "I'm a season ticket holder and we're leaving, but if you want our ticket stubs you can sit in our seats the rest of the night"
He gave us 4 ticket stubs (thanks Tony) for some seats right by our friends. We got into the line to enter the lower level of the field, and the usher kind of rolled her eyes at us and said "Ok fine, but you have to sit in these assigned seats." We hadn't been misbehaving or anything but I get the staff was just doing their jobs.

[this isn't related, just me bragging] A few years ago, a friend from high school asked me if I wanted to go to a Twins game because his uncle had good seats and I was like yeah sure. Turns out they were 3rd row seats against the Angels right next to the dugout. I would see into the dugout and hear the first base coach throughout the whole game which was really cool. I also saw a sports news lady do the Ice Ice Baby dance in the dugout between innings, and she pulled it off.

another time, when the vikings were playing in the outdoor college stadium before their new stadium was built, I was at a preseason game and there was a huge thunderstorm and tried to get everyone to evacuate. We didn't evacuate (just hung around in the concourse) and sat in the first row behind the endzonefor the rest of the game, after the game finally resumed. It was cool (saw a TD right next to us) but it was just a dumb preseason game.

looking at pictures, it looks like the section behind home plate is about 15 rows, and we were sitting in probably the 2nd or 3rd row of the next section, so not really all that close nah. But definitely worth getting as close as we did I guess because I doubt I'll be back there

Stlcards1991 and I moved down to the green seats right behind home plate in a 15 inning game. We probably sat there for three minutes then Adams hit a walkoff homer. It was awesome seeing him blast I from that angle because usually I'm not great at seeing where it's going in person but I immediately stood up and started yelling. Which would have been embarrassing if it hadn't gone out but it was such an obvious bomb
