What's all of this "Vincent underperformance" talk? I'm not sure how strong he had to be to be "impressive" even, but didn't he go against Auron, which was the heavy favorite to begin with? He also went against one of CT's strongest characters.

In his prime, Vincent wouldn't lose to Auron. It's not an underperformance compared to what people expected from him. It's an underperformance compared to how strong Vincent used to be.

Well, he put 45% on Crono in 2005, and then 48% on Sonic in 2006 and beat Crono the year after. Both Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus came out in the meantime between SC2K5 and SC2K6.

As in all contests the further we go in, the more the votes increase.

That's not true, the Red vs Alucard and Bowser vs Kirby matches only got around 28k.

Well, SFF matches tend to get fewer votes anyway.

Also, Red/Alucard and Bowser/Kirby were on the weekend (Saturday to be specific), which factors into the lower vote totals.

I did some research a while back on average vote totals by the day of the week and determined that Saturday polls have the lowest average vote totals. The highest average is seen on Monday-Thursday (with very little variation), followed by Sunday polls, then Friday polls, and Saturday polls have the lowest average out of all the days in a week.

Saturday polls have roughly a 12% reduction in vote totals compared to Monday-Thursday. Friday polls have about a 7% reduction in vote totals compared to Monday-Thursday. The reduction in vote totals for Sunday polls is fairly small at only about a 3% reduction.

Nah, I like getting a chance to reevaluate the bracket after you've had a chance to see everyone (except for the Noble Nine), so you've got a good mix of known and unknown there. It's why I liked the Battle Challenge so much.

Huh. Given how low her prediction percentage against MMX was, I'm honestly surprised that Tifa had a higher prediction percentage to win her division than Auron or Alucard.

...Well, maybe not; neither of them had great prediction percentages in R3 either and Alucard's division, at least, was perceived as being much stronger on the other half of the division.

It makes sense a well since seph wouldn't lose to anyone in the main bracket.

If you put Mega Man or especially Sonic....they could have ended up losing and not even make the Legends bracket. which would devalue the whole point of it

This question will be pretty easy to answer because we all already know the average vote totals per match for the contest up to this point.

We're currently averaging 20077 raw votes per match. So that projects for a total of 602310 votes for the remainder of the contest.

However, I expect the rest of the contest to have slightly higher average vote totals compared to the first 4 rounds. My recommendation for a tiebreaker will be somewhere between 610000 and 700000.

For some reason we get Duplicate Matches in the losers bracket. I;ve got Pikachu/ MM twice and the same with Crono/Bowser.

Allen should have reshuffled the losers into oppsite ends to stop them from meeting again twice so quickly.

My finals are Link>Mario, Cloud>Mario, Link>Cloud

Actually, I'm kind of torn. Mostly over that Mario-Sephiroth battle. Tifa's win over Luigi has me doubting Mario's chances against Sephiroth, but that's a huge difference because if Mario gets past Seph, he gets to SFF-rip his way through the next two rounds before falling to Link, whereas if he loses...he probably loses again fairly early in loser's bracket because I still wouldn't take Seph over Samus!

Yes, next two rounds. I'm going with Sonic > Snake. Everything else MGS has looked awful this year, while Sonic characters...well, actually they weren't that impressive either! Yea, Tails made round 3, but not over anything that strong. Knuckles got a decent win though, and I guess losing to Zero isn't too bad. After all, I don't have to call Team Mega Man weak to not pick Mega to win many matches, because Pikachu just looked that incredible!

Yeah, Zelda > Sonic is actually worth discussing. There are some numbers in that division I'd struggle to see Sonic matching.

although this could be the strongest Sonic we've had in a really long time too
