Like you're not converting people who really like Snake a lot more. People who just appreciate both characters though? Recency factor means a lot.

So you are telling me that 24% of the site played Smash 5 (according to yesterday poll), and out of those 24% about a third were so moved by seeing Samus on a screen with 8+ characters that they decided to vote for her here?

Has Smash-related strength ever been that fickle? Even Snake boost was one single character becoming Nintendo and then being strong all contest. It wasn't a day-to-day thing. Heck, we have been in Smash hype for months now.

I know, but the average voters is more emotional I think. My point is that seeing people on a character selection screen doesn't convey emotions on me. It's just whatever.

You're dumbing it down. It's not just seeing her on a character select screen. It's Samus being inherently more closely tied with Smash Bros. Your average Smash enthusiast is going to have a lot more fond memories of Samus from that game than Snake.

It's weird those trends were a character has the hardest time trying to break the final barrier and take the lead but once he does, he usually build up his own lead quite quickly.

On side note, it's weird to hear Samus is mega popular in Smash. I never picked her. When I played Melee with friends no one picked her either.

Also I actually am a nerd who has an (ill maintained-- I'm not that much of a nerd) top character list and I'm getting the Samus feels right now.

Not enough to vote her over Snake, mind you, but you know. I'd probably vote her over Mega Man right now if the matches were shuffled around when I wouldn't normally (and Crono but that's always the case because Crono sucks). Mario tomorrow too. Granted that's not all Smash and it's more complicated than that but I'm just saying voting for characters in the moment, for whatever reason, is something that I'm sure a lot of voters do.

This imo. I'd rather believe she got 1 or 2% from a Smash boost and something like rSFF is causing this.

I'm getting Samus feels but that's because this contest keeps making me remember all the glorious times I had playing MP trilogy.

I don't think Samus is SFFing Snake. She's just really strong. The Mario match is a fraudulent result.

If we're fishing for explanations, I will repeat that Snake basically doesn't even have a face in his picture. I don't think that background goes well with his model either.

Yes. I'm sure since every match has 215 updates and we've had I would say over 1,000 matches by now that once in 215,000 attempts there was a tie.

This however is the end times and it's a 50-50 match when it happened.

I asked have we ever seen a 5 minute tie toward the end of a 50-50 match. A much MUCH smaller sample aize

Mario match is fraudulent yeah. Both of them, probably.

I'm not saying Samus literally gained 8% of the vote from Smash, but I wouldn't see Samus getting more than 53% or so normally.

1. Samus is SFFing/overperforming by 7% on a character from an entirely different company, genre, and series (she is probably overperforming by some amount, but not THAT much)
And
2. Zelda rSFFd Mario to the point by like 7%.
And
3. Tifa rSFFd Sephiroth by like 5%. Tifa rSFFd Sephiroth.

Or:

1. Mario did the same Hierarchy BS to Samus that we've already seen in the past.

He doesnt have any real representation except original red and blue.

Blastoise is one of my all time fav Pokemon.

Charizard is a fire dragon and had Smash appearance. We all know about pikachu and mewtwo has smash appearance as well as the original movie being about him.

The funniest thing is so far consensus seems to be pretty universal that Samus is utter trash in Ultimate. Pretty much every streamer has said she is bottom tier. Snake seems to be mid tier with potential to go up.

Its relative. Top 10 isn't a great performance for MM's standards when he has literally always been top 10.

1) MM was above Crono in 2013
2) MM just recently got MM11
3) MM is in Smash Ultimate which is on day 3 of release and Crono is not

Its pretty bad for MM to lose to Crono under these conditions
