Maybe it's my Nekomaru = Mukuro theory, and we solve this by guessing who the mastermind is.

Oh you meant his association with the mastermind. I was confused there for a second. Nekomaru and Mukuro are like the two most different characters.

The idea is that "Monokuma did it" and finding Neko's killer equals finding the mastermind.

The mystery of killing Nekomaru has the same issue as the mystery of killing Sakura: who the hell could have pulled it off? Makes me lean a bit less on Gundham and more on Kazuichi, tbh.

There seem to be a lot of objects related to everything but the crime. The random ass hammer on the ground. The barred door (to prevent rescue, or...?). The wire with the knot that wasn't tied on anything. Maybe it's just my paranoia but I recall objects usually being more obviously connected to the murder.

Holy shit Chiaki just listed the same three things I just did. Best girl.

The elevator is also broken. Fuyu thinks it's to neutralize the investigation. I think he's not thinking crazy enough.

PoE change! Will they let me play as Nagito or is it just dialogue?

Nagito gets me. The locks are definitely not meant to hinder the investigation.

Yes! They let me play as Nagito! This is a new for this series, but I like it.

Looking at the menu, Nagito has some of the options blocked, and a big ? in the place of where the Truth Bullets should be. Does this mean he has a different skill? This game is turning into an RPG and I approve.

This alarm clock thing feels like an obvious attempt to create alibis.

Nagito: "I'm not trying to confuse you. For now". lol.

Nagito VS. Final Dead Room. Begin...

... tomorrow. I really wanted to play DR2 today but there was very little time for gaming.

Nagito wants to use a compass inside the elevator. Is he implying there is another twist to the building structure? Interesting.

THe Life Threatening Game seems to be an actual mini-game. Cool.

A classic adventure game, with inventories and everything.

Ok I feel dumb but this NEWS password isn't easy. There are 5 numbers and they are all positioned at seemingly random places.

I figured it, after having to use Google to learn the 6 was an upside down 9. Also took a while to notice the 4 was a compass, because I had skimmed the text.

Ok I suck at this game.

Nagito talking about mouse buttons scares Monomi. She's not used to people who can see through the 4th wall.

I suck at this game but Nagito doesn't. He just reveals all the steps when I talk to Monomi. Because she's useless like that.

I'm dumb so I asked Nagto for the Otello solution. Then I tried again and he literally gave the password. This game is tearing my self-esteem apart.

I googled it again out of curiosity and realized I'm too sleepy to understand the explanation. Except apparently you must read the lights from right to left. Because this is a Japanese game. Okay this is on the level of the fish bowl thing in terms of unintuitive puzzle.

So this obnoxious puzzle wasn't even the game itself. Meh.

Nagito wishes the roussian roulette had 5 bullets. Because he's hardcore like that.

Wait he's actually doing with 5 bullets, holy crap.

If the prize is proportional to the number of bullets they might as well give Nagito the name of the mastermind or something. Damn.

Monokuma is giving me PLOT. At last! It was totally worth it getting caught in multiple death traps inside an amusement park (not). And I guess Nagito's craziness is really paying off.

Stop laughing maniacally and show me what's on the other side of the window already!

Nooooo it won't show me. Damn you Nagito!

Time to read the student profiles... and the scene skips back to Hajime. This is torture.

Hajime, you are beating Chiaki in the zoning out contest. You should be worried.

Nagito out of nowhere!

"Nagito's Sudden Appearance" was added to the truth bullets. Dis game.

Every murder in this game had something in common with DR1's. Ehhhhhhh.... WHAT?

I guess I did notice the double murder and the serial killer reveals at the time, but didn't stop to think it was a pattern. Damn. Does this confirm this one as a suicide?

Oh so this is why the motives are forced! Someone is literally forcing us to reenact DR1. Amazing.

So Hajime's ultimate talent is that his dad paid for him to enter. Well, it's a capitalist world, so that matters.

Nagito is gonna be a dick about it, isn't he.

Nagito is a tardy detective, according to Chiaki. Having someone who understands videogames is game breaking in a videogame, it seems.

Kazuichi: Be Mikan.

Nagito has gone full villain now. I somehow like it. Can we execute him later? Pretty please? They didn't let me take down Byakuya and I had to settle for weird-ass Junko, now give me some true asshole.

The room inverts when you enter it from a different direction. The twists. They keep coming.

A huge Monokuma statue from a hole. This is... uh... practical.

Did Nagito just imply my Hajime = evil theory? ALso I do recall something about reserve students fighting the ultimates? Maybe he's really the Ultimate Despair or something.

It begins. The most interesting thing is that the game is implying another suicide. WIll it really be it, or will there be a twist inside this twist? Stay tuned!

Unrelated, but Danganronpa VR is really neat and I'm sad it's only a demo that will never be an actual game. Basically it plops you in the trial of 1-1 in the first game, you're in the middle of the survivors and they're all chatting around you while you pick your options out of the air

Then it ends on being stuck in the Makoto execution while Monokuma does a jig around you

Guys... guys! It's Sonia Nevermind.

I've been thinking of how exactly Monokuma forced the game's murders to be like DR1

2-2 was about a serial killer because Peko heard of it at the library. Who was with Peko at the time, talking about serial killers? Sonia.

2-3 was a double murder because Hiyoko went to the music place without warning. Who told Hiyoko to go there? Sonia.

2-1 is harder. What was the pattern again? The victim was stabbed at a strange place? I don't remember what Sonia's involvement here is. Maybe she told Nagito about the undeground entrance.

But two is a pattern. She's the mastermind isn't she.

Akane: "There's no way a chick would kill someone so cruelly". Uuuh, have you been asleep since the end of 2-1 or something?

Nagito making an angry "HUH" at Kazuichi's dumb theories is my new favorite meme.

I am now going to call the dude Baby Gangsta until the end of this playthrough. (probably not all the time, Fuyu has fewer letters).

Suicide is being thrown as a likely possibility from the start. Because this series is crazy like that. But I think that's not the 1-4 parallel they made.

Akane is stupid in a way that bothers me. I dunno. Like, Hina was the same type of character but she wasn't THIS dumb, or maybe she was, but she was nicer about it. Akane is a character from Naruto or Fairy Tail trying to survive in a game of brains and failing at it because she has the wrong skill set. It doesn't seem she's even aware she is supposed to use her intelligence here.

Sonia is so precious I'm sincerely wishing my theory about her being mastermind is wrong.

I don't recall there being so much difficulty at pointing out the murder weapon before. I mean, 1-3 had that stuff with the Justice Hammers, but that was an excess of options. Here there is a lack of them. There is nothing they could have killed Nekomaru with.

It seems Nagito has realized he is equal or more talented than the rest of the kids, and instead of being happy for it, he's mad and disappointed. I wonder what in that info he got triggered it.

Gundham bragging about being the Ultimate Weapon is legendary. Nuff said.

And he's totally going to get Sonia. I ship it.

Sonia's kingdom destroyed Hajime's homeland. She's a Code Geass villain now.

"Just like if there is no bread, let them eat cake". The references! They won't stop!

The game doesn't let me buy skills during trials, and I keep forgetting to buy them until the trials start. The result? I just got 2 game overs trying to beat Sonia at rebuttal showdown. I hate this game sometimes.

Kazuichi's bootlicking of Sonia has officially overstayed its welcome.

Man, want the rest of the game to just be Nagito revealing everything he knows about the series' plot. Instead of Akane and Kazuichi arguing about obviously misleading evidences.

Oh I get it, Strawberry House is OVER Grape House, not beside it. And the Ultimate Weapon is that piece of info. Imagine if nobody else had concluded the challenge, the killer would coast to victory with that kind of illusion in his hands.

I just noticed Mikan's portrait "X" mark is a red cross.

Turns out half the doors were just for show, the killer had access to secret passages, and this whole puzzle with locked doors was just one gigantic mislead.

Poor Kazuichi can't even solve the elevator puzzle when he was the one with all the tools for it.

The trial hits the middle point and I'm leaving. See you in the next episode of Danganronpa 2: Trigger-Happy Architecture Lessons!

This is why Akane trends to the bottom of people's DR2's character lists: She's like Hina, but much dumber and with much less character development. Hina gets to use 1-4 to fully explore her character while Nekomaru "died" twice and Akane's still more focused on food.

Nagito learned about plot so he doesn't want to die anymore. THere is nothing to be gained in terms of hope when the despair side is the one wanting you to kill.

Gundham's speech about murder just being murder is great. Please be innocent, Gundham.

Gundham is reacting so badly at Hajime finding out the murder method is falling that he's probably it.

So the good night button wasn't used to make Nekomaru vulnerable to an attack, but rather, to an elevator shaft fall. Clever.

Kazuichi enjoys being called a pest. He might be a match in heaven with Sonia, after all.

Akane is happy she was right about the pillar being relevant. Except that is obvious because the pillar was fucking covered in blood. The fact you didn't deduce anything beyond that means you are just useless.

Now here is the part where we learn the killer tampered with the clocks to attempt to create an alibi, which will end up being their undoing. Instead of, you know, not creating an alibi, and letting lack of evidence prevent the kids from figuring out who you are.

Sonia didn't hear the rumble, while Nagito didn't hear the alarm clock. Weren't they both in the fancy bedrooms? I think bedroom disposition is the key to the puzzle here.

Man, that scene of Gundham perforing a jutsu in the opening is his execution scene, isn't it?

Well, I guess tampering with the clocks might have been necessary to ensure people would be sleeping during the murder. But then who set the alarm off?

They did it to pin the blame on Nagito. Clever. But Nagito already saw it coming.

Oh I recall some of the rooms being soundproof. Heh. Just like I said before, Monokuma Inc. never fails to provide useful details for murder mysteries.

This makes it clear who the killer is, except I forgot who was in the other deluxe room. I'm just gonna guess Gundham lol. And... I'm right.

Ok I'll have to believe Gundham did not set the alarms and this was just deux ex machina, because otherwise it's a pretty stupid plan. Still a lame way for Gundham to go down, though.

Or the alarm just goes off every night, and the sad coincidence was Fuyu being awake. I'll take it.

Oh, the point was for Kazuichi and Fuyu to check Gundham's room and find him sleeping there. Makes sense. Which goes back to me previous point: stop trying to set up fake alibis, people! Geez.

Sorry, Gundham, but hamsters do not have super hearing afaik.

Rebuttal Showdown against a cornered Gundham is actually super fun.

Nagito wants us to skip the summary. Fuck you, Nagito, I paid for this game so we are getting it!

Hey, Nagito, did you just steal my gameplay? LMAO

The Four Devas pressed the good night sleep button, didn't they?

I can't beieve that's a sentence I just wrote.

Oh, I get to make the comic book part at least. Nice.

I haven't felt so bad for winning a trial since the start of this series. This is about as sad as finding out Godot is guilty. I love Gundham.

Nekomaru was the Ultimate Team Manager until the very end. Even when Gundham came there to kill him, he laughed and decided to challenge him to do it. Amazing.

Gundham did everything to save us. I didn't think they could pull it off, but they created someone as badass as Sakura.

They recreated Musafa's dead in Gundham's execution. I can't even. Holy crap.

Nagito's confrontation with Monokuma is extremely interesting even if it doesn't reveal anything.

Well, what it implies is that there is another twist with the student number. I'm going to guess it's related to Byakuya being in the new list. Monokuma does say the traitor is meaningless to him, maybe because he's already dead. Monokuma says he's also waiting for someone, who is already in the island. Probably the Ultimate Despair.

Well, this was certainly the weirdest case in the series so far. Everything from the murder method, to the killer and the victim, was wacky. It was also one of the most complicated, probably only losing to 1-5/6. Gundham really did one hell of a work to set it up. Maybe too complicated, judging from the sheer time we spent arguing the building layout.

I did see him as the killer coming, but it was because this game lacked options at this point. It was going to be either him or Kazuichi. The gender imbalance didn't help at that regard.

1-4 might still be my favorite, because it managed to have multiple options even though it only had 6 people at the trial. That was an amazingly written case. But 2-4 is strong, probably as strong as 2-2 which was also great.

Gundham is one of my favorite characters in fiction ever. It was hard to see him go down, yet it was so badass. Wonder who is going to take care of the four devas now.

The fact he sacrificed himself willingly helps mitigate a little the fact this case's motive was forced as hell. Yes, I'm still not completely over that. It's forced in order to mimic DR1's cases, but that still makes them inferior to the original. Then again, as much as DR1's motives were great, the characters taking part in them weren't that good, while DR2 is telling much better character stories with what it's got.

I mostly ranked him high for being a bro and being pretty entertaining. That was enough to put him over almost everybody else though I also didnt care much for a lot of the DR2 cast either despite it being a better cast than the first game.

I got a thing to confess. The other day I was looking for images of Gundham or something like that, and the "google questions" on the top of the page said "who killed nekomaru?" (I know, I know, you guys told me not to Google, but I have low self control. Based on my usual self I think I'm doing a fabulous job at avoiding spoilers here)

I'm surprised it took you that long to figure out Gundham, when Google spilled the beans way earlier.

Yeah, but the question probably came up because you were Googling the answer.

For the record Id suggest not Googling any of the remaining characters or chapters because they will ruin huge stuff so try your best to resist
