new Berserk chapter, nothing happens as usual and surprise surprise "to be continued" with no set date

new One Piece makes me think this 3 Supernova vs 2 Yonkou is going to finally happen because these new commanders getting introduced seem like they are fodder for the Red Scabbards fights

I just want the story to progress at this point, if Oda keeps pushing off the Yonkou fights into the future we'll never get to the end. I hope at least either Kaidou or BM gets killed here.

Yeah but there's no way a hero is going to be doing the killing.

Heroes dying is fine because that's sad, but Oda doesn't want us to feel happy about villains dying, just getting punched really really hard.

That said Kaidou is triggering a bunch of flags so that'll probably happen somehow.

So after Darwin's Game, I was still in a survival game mood and finally got around to checking out Mirai Nikki. I gotta say, I went in knowing one character was the postergirl for yandere, so I was expecting a certain level of violence. What I didn't expect was all the comedic elements. Some of it is because watching this in 2020 with them using flip phones, I struggle to take it seriously despite knowing when the manga came out it they were appropriate tech. Then there's everything Mur Mur does...post credit scenes are all pretty amazing. And then you get the dark humor like episode 17 being called 'family discount' and what happens to yuki's mom. Followed up by next episode yuki's crush looking suspiciously similar to his mom.

I'm still in the middle of episode 18, but it's been an interesting ride so far.

Demon Slayer confirmed to end in the next few issues!

The huge sales figures must have caught everyone by surprise, but the final arc was already in place. I think it's for the best though Demon King Tanjiro should have gone on a little longer :(

Maybe the author can come up with something a little more built to last. Or a sequel I guess.

It's shaping up to be the shounen star of the year, that's for sure. I imagine this is gonna gain a lot of traction in the coming weeks, unless it's just a single cour.

I feel like it was built to last! They could easily have put it out for years to come, the groundwork is there.

But I also think this is a completely fine natural ending and am glad it's going out on top instead of being forced by editorial to continue. I mean, even a half a year ago there was that feeling that we were going into the final battle.

I've never posted in this thread, but I'm a newish anime fan. Wanted to say hello! Maybe ask for some suggestions.

I grew up on DBZ, Yu yu hakusho, Zoids; adult swim, basically. But I didn't really delve much deeper than that. In college, I watched a few other things that I can't remember.

Current favorites:
My Hero Academia
Mob Psycho 100

I think MHA is the best anime I've ever seen. I'm fully engrossed in this world, I even saw the movie in theaters a few months ago. Mob Psycho was soooooooooo good, too.

Any suggestions on what I should watch? Never really saw the big 3; I think I saw a season of Naruto on TV, don't know anything about One Piece or Bleach but I assume One Piece isn't worth watching at this point.

Btw, I've watched all of JoJo as well. Stardust Crusaders sucks, that's hopefully the general opinion around here? I'm reading through my first manga right now (part 6) and it's interesting.

Well, for one, pretty much everyone likes HxH. I could recommend something I like and most people don't, but I wouldn't do that to someone new...

And secondly, I do like Stardust Crusaders! Some of it, at least. Some of the fights in the second half are amazing (the Pet Shop fight is one of my favorites in the Jojo anime), and the humor really gets it sometimes. But it's terribly slow-paced. It's definitely the worst of the first four Jojo anime (I like 5 less, partly because that one had such a lame villain).

Hunter x Hunter and Fullmetal Alchemist are two classic shounen anime that are pretty great imo. (I think they're old enough to call them classic? Might be pushing it a bit but whatever)

If you want something shorter, I think Baccano and One Punch Man are pretty well liked by most people? Full disclosure though I have not seen One Punch Man and am only going off reputation here. Also season 2 is supposedly not as good as season 1.

Every episode after D'Arby shows up is awesome, that entire finish is great. But you need to slog through like 45 episodes to get there.

I only saw one or two episodes, but I did not really like it. I guess I don't like the first two episodes of most anime, though. The other stuff, I've heard some really good things about!

I don't really watch anime, but I tried to watch Fist of North Star. I couldn't do it, after finding out it goes for 108 episodes (where the famous "Raoh" arc ends). I wanted to see this Ken vs Raoh stuff but it's way too long for me. But I watched like 5 episodes and it's funny how he fixes people's problems with muscle magic. Like an anime chiropractor

You really have to love the manly 80s vibe to enjoy that today.

I think the story holds up really well, but it takes at least 26 episodes to start, and some might say even more.

Started watching Haikyu today. I don't generally watch sports shows often but this is pretty solid so far.

Haikyu!! is normally outside my general preferences as well, but people kept saying good things about it and honestly, more than anything else, the ost is what drove me to check it out.

I think you could more easily count the people who don't ship those two than the monstrous horde that do.

Haikyuu is without a doubt the easiest sports anime to get into for peope who don't care about sports anime.

Doesn't hurt that it's, you know, absolutely fantastic.

Magia Record was like, I dunno, consistently solid? The battles were pretty good. I feel like it was too episodic though. Being more story-focused/faster paced would've been to its benefit.

Interspecies Reviewers was quite good in general. It got kinda repetitive over time, though it did at least try to have something new and different every episode, so that part was nice. I enjoyed how consistently fun it was. Felt like it was done better than some other ecchi-style series in some ways. The people who say it's practically hentai are very silly though, since this definitely isn't that.

I will say Haikyuu has got some legwork to do if it wants to reach the same level as Chihayafuru or Ping Pong the Animation.

Of course I'm told Haikyuu is a show that gets significantly better further on into the show, so we'll see where it ends up.
