You're not wrong though. People who just don't read manga aren't fully prepared for just what a fucking bombshell Chainsaw Man is gonna be.

Of course, I would not be surprised if this ends up being Netflix, which would be a real shame from a popularity standpoint...though honestly this is a case where it's probably the right call, given how censored it would need to be otherwise. If they do a simultaneous release that would be the best case scenario.

I will agree with the notion I've seen about the show having a bit of an issue explaining some things, but it genuinely intrigues me with what direction it might go. That's probably my favorite thing about the show, not really having an idea on where it will go.

I sort of feel like the entire Webtoon has that problem, though Part 1 in particular does leave you in the dark on a lot of things. I could also see the adaptation being worse about it if it's skipping content like Reddit commenters are saying. (Reddit manga readers are a very poor source of information so who knows)

Meanwhile I am continuing with the Webtoon also...now about 55-60% through part 2? At this point I feel pretty comfortable saying that I don't get where people are coming from when they call this series a masterpiece, but it has ranged from reasonably good to great for its entirety so far. This arc has not been as good as the start of Part 2, but it's still been enjoyable. Also loving that it looks like a lot of old faces showed up and/or are going to be showing up shortly.

Kuhn still the best. No idea how to go about making a ranking beyond that because this series has way too fucking many characters and a lot of them are pretty solid.

Having experienced both, the content being skipped and the stuff being accelerated are all absolutely in service of making this a superior production. There is nothing missing from the adaptation that should be missed, and several good to great changes have been made.

Decided to check out a classic I've never actually seen other than sporadic viewings of the old highly edited dub, and started up Cardcaptor Sakura.

I ran out of weekly manga to read while sitting on the toilet so I started one punch man from the beginning

There have been a couple of cool in a vaccum moments towards the end of Promised Neverland here, but, uh....this ending is lame as fuck, right?

Supposedly it's always been planned to end here, so why have the last dozen and a half chapters felt like a messy rushjob?

Eh I don't think there's anything particularly worse about the last buncha chapters than the previous 50.

To me the whole series has felt kinda like it had an obligation to tell more story after the Season 1 material. And that's about it. But yeah I feel you that it's kinda empty watching it finally end. It's not bad, but it's also not that interesting either when you basically know how it's all gonna go down.

Yeah that's definitely the worst of it. Basically the more "cool" the sudden wist or idea is, the more stupid it is to the actual story, lol.

Definitely keeping an eye on that new Jump series about the mangaka who receives Jump issues from 10 years in the future.

Which TLR one? Is it Yabuki aka the guy responsible for the amazing art or is it whoever wrote TLRs plot? Also excited to hear the Beelzebub guy has a new manga coming. Never did check out the canceled one he had a while back. Hungry Marie? or something like that

Reminds me of the nightmare that was the Neuro anime. One of Jumps best ever series reduced to that.

Beelzebub not only had a terrible budget for the anime, but it also didnt even look like the manga and was stuffed with a ton of anime original content that wasnt very good either. Some characters were also completely unlike their manga selves too. Some of the music in it is nice at least, but man what a tragedy.

Jump anime didn't really get consistently good until the 2010s with the season formula.

Yeah. And Hungry Marie was just not good. The premise was too complex for the romcom vibe it was going for. Not that I read more than a few chapters but it was doomed from the start. Hopefully this one turns out better.

I am also pretty sure HxH 2011 kept with the old formula itself, correct? I got in there late, but IIRC it ended in 2013, so.

It covered material that was already out so it was in a unique situation.

Even HxH99 was plagued by early filler. But yeah obviously there were good ones before 2010. But you'd rarely find the entire series adapted. Even Kenshin had some filler/original content for the first third, did Kyoto perfectly, then died in filler hell before it could finish.

YYH probably the best example of a start to finish excellently paced adaptation. Actually I forgot one of my smfas mains in Fist of the North Freakin Star too

HxH '99 kinda used the new formula too, with OVA series sequels to cover new content. And the early filler was REALLY minor. New Jump series still have some filler too.

I just started Arte and I want to mention how weird it is to see the Universal opening before an anime.

Hmmm...I'd been losing interest in Tower of God, but this Name Hunt Station arc was notably better than any of the stuff from the 100 or so chapters before it. They just need to upgrade Yuri, Endorsi, and Shibisu to permanent main character status to be honest.

(Spoilers up to chapter 228 of season 2 of the Webtoon). I will say at least the previous arc had Khun challenging Rachel to coin flipping which is the one of the most petty yet badass things I've ever seen. Khun has personally made it his mission to make Rachel's life as miserable as possible and to ruin her aspirations because he thinks she deserves it, and you know what he's exactly right. Other than that though...eh. Hoaqin is a terrible villain.

Name Hunt arc though had a much better villain in Kaiser/Elaine, along with better fights and twists. It was just all around better. I also liked some of the development it gave us for things going on with the Ten Families and Jahad.
