Wish someone could even make a minute effort to try and prop up Biden without using the words Trump or Republicans. Wish he has even one iota of actual worth other than "beat the other guy".

You have to have a long term view on this. If Republicans win they only appoint Republicans. If Democrats win and they also appoint Republicans, then what good are our elections? We've lost what makes our republic great, and done it to ourselves. Obviously Republicans should appoint Republicans, if you don't like that then you don't have to vote for them. It's a problem when there's no other option.

And that appears to be the whole game Biden and the centrists play - tell people there is no other option and this is the best we can do. It's really bad for the health of our republic in the long run.

Yeah, I hear the 'lesser of two evils' argument constantly, but my state is so far blue that my vote in the general is literally not going to matter other than 'how far can we crush trump into the dust'. And I reject your hypothetical here. I think everything the democrats are offering is, across the board, better than what republicans are offering. That's why I'm voting for them. Is Biden as good as Sanders or Warren? No, absolutely not. But his policy issues aren't horrible and every single one of them is significantly better than what Trump is pushing. In my opinion, obviously. You are entitled to have yours!

Also as the resident Suprak expert, I also don't think any of this is "un-Supraklike"! I think I have been on the record that I would support Biden if he won the nomination forever, basically. I think I even called him "eh...fine" before. That's pretty high praise around these parts!

Look, he's willing to fix it now. I like him being willing to work with Warren and Sanders on issues like this and admit he was wrong.

You're not going to get me to call him a good candidate. He was my...I don't even know choice. Fifth? Sixth? But I will say he is a reasonable alternative to the current administration and you can make plenty of points in his favor based on his policies, and not just saying "he isn't Trump" (which to me is enough to begin with).

My biggest issue with Biden isn't even policy, per se, it is that I think he is an incredibly weak candidate.

I understand he beat Sanders, but Sanders had enthusiasm on his side and was good at attracting a swath of typical non-voters that Biden just isn't going to reach. Biden is old and incoherent and even when he was young he wasn't the kind of guy that was good at speaking and rallying support. He's polling fine now but I still think that gap closes the closer to the election we get and I still feel like Wisconsin is out of reach, meaning he needs to pull in Arizona or NC or something like that.

So not only do I think Sanders has better policy, I feel like I trust his voters more to show up (I know "hawhaw they didn't even show up for him in the primaries"). I think a lot of those Biden voters are very squishy and could and will move over to Trump once they start dumping all that hard oppo research.

(Of course I could be wrong and Biden could win in a rout because I am an idiot and get these things wrong all the time).

That is my biggest issue with Biden. Sanders, even without winning, pushed the party to the left and he's bringing new voices into the party which will continue that. I don't hate the direction the party is going, thanks to him. I just think Biden is a weak candidate that won't inspire an entire wing of the party to come out and vote for him.

We never should have expected the Trump Administration to be competent in its rollout of the DPA, and we should have expected them to be vindictive towards states that don't show the president 100% fealty and deference, yes. I guess we just expected him, in the face of a crisis, to rise to the occasion like literally ANY Democratic president would do. We were wrong to think that.
