Also, apparently everything they showed off at Minecraft Live was not for 1.20. It's for 1.19.3 That's... super weird. o_O But anyway, yes snapshot with camels is live.

So Mojave is changing their development cycle. They want to do one massive update every year, then throughout the year theyll release smaller updates that add one or two new things to keep the game fresh. Well well see if they can deliver on that.

Built out my slime farm last night. Not as productive as I expected it to be, but realistically it is probably more than enough. I'll watch a few videos to make sure I didn't do anything terribly wrong and then I'll probably just leave it unless I need a stupidly large amount of slime blocks for something.

Might be a cave somewhere nearby you didn't find. That might also explain the low slime spawns, there are areas dark enough nearby for zombies and skeletons to spawn.

That is going to be fun to try and find. I did walk around to see if I could hear any mobs and didn't find anything. Only other option would be to start tunneling out on each floor I guess. For now I'm going to call it good enough since I've already got several stacks of slime cubes and I don't really have any immediate projects to use them on.

Yeah and given the risks of either blowing myself up or dumping lava on my head I always wear fairly crap gear when I'm doing it so at least I didn't lose much in the process.

Now that I have a slime farm though I think I may trade in the beds for a tunnel borer.

I do think they could stand to either tone down the ravines or at least update village generation to fill them in or something. I had to move half the houses in one village because the AI just stopped pathfinding to their beds and job blocks.

Yeah like where I built my base, I did not realize this at the time, but as I built it out and started digging underneath, I discovered that those planes are just littered with ravines. Ravines stacked on top of ravines. It's actually not a fantastic place to build, but I didn't know that at the time.

I just emptied mine of water and kept it. Tonight's project was a blaze farm. Got it up and running but I need either build a dedicated nether portal for it or setup a more direct path so I'm not parkouring on one block paths over lava.

Decided to farm wither skeletons for more beacons. It took me like almost 2 hours to get 6 skulls. In that time I killed this many wither skeletons worth of bones and coal to get those skulls. There's got to be a better way!

Anyway, it's late, I'm tired, I'll fight these withers next time I play.

Oh, also, Kingbdogz confirmed on Twitter that while 1.20 will be adding new blocks and features, even more than we know about, 1.20 is going to be overall a QOL update, and they're doing a lot of technical work to fix bugs and make the game more stable. Like in the snapshot, you don't need to fiddle around with the inventories of mounts to give them saddles and armor and chests and carpets and things anymore. So hopefully player inventories will get some tweaks? Please?

Killed 2 more Withers, and hatched some chicken eggs in the cage where I built them so I got some roses. Not sure what I need these for, but hey I have them now. Also I'm restructuring the way I use beacons. Instead of having all effects on at once, I want to build speed beacons strategically throughout the base. And that means I need waaaaaay more gold. Time to go caving!

I know some Wither skeleton farms use roses so that only skeletons spawn. I've also seen them used as the kill mechanism in some AFK farms.

Oh yeah also I learned a thing about beacons! You can place colored glass in front of the beam to change the color of the beam. And you aren't just stuck with the colors of glass, you can mix and match glass colors and the game will calculate what the color of the beam should be. Pretty neat!

Whoa that's awesome.

Also, so you know how the end ships have the purple block of glass in the floor, and a hole above it in the crow's nest? It's because originally the reward wasn't going to be Elytra. The reward was a beacon. So the end ships would emit a purple beam you'd see from far away. But that's kind of a redundant reward considering how easy it is to get beacons from Withers, so they changed the point of the end ships.

At some point in the near future I'm either going to have to do some major terraforming around my main base or I'm going to have to relocate because I'm running out of room here. The fact that I'm sitting on top of a huge cavern is going to make terraforming a pain, but I also have a lot of stuff built up here that would be annoying to move as well. I guess I could just leave those here as an outpost and create a shortcut through the nether.

Big change this week is camels have a more realistic walking animation, they lift both legs on one side at a time, instead of alternating legs. Yes, lifting both legs at a time is actually how real camels walk! Also, tons of more bug fixes, and more reorganizing of the creative menu.

So I learned something last night. I learned that block conversion was a bigger thing than I realized. I knew you could convert natural blocks into moss with a moss block and some bonemeal, and of course you can convert natural blocks into sculk by killing mobs near a sculk catalyst. But I also learned that you can convert coarse dirt into dirt with azalea trees. You can convert dirt into mud with water, and you can convert mud into clay by placing a dripstone underneath it. That's cool! Dirt, clay and mud are all fully renewable resources. I wonder if there's more I don't know about.

You can also make coarse dirt into dirt by tilling it and I think you may also be able to convert coarse dirt into dirt by turning it into a path block and then breaking it.
