I can see that you might see it that way in one case. (since I should have stated my opinion on Red VS dumey more clearly)
But I think I am pretty clearly taking BCTs side in the other case.

I think ctes explained his read pretty well and I'll just parrot it lol. From what I've gathered the claim from this game compared to what it was before seems radically different. Plus it's sort of self-resolving. But yeah based on the timing of the claim it probably comes from town given that it's on day 1, versus what seemed to have been a LyLo where town was eating itself alive.

Well asking for flavor when someone claims is always fine. Talking about counter claiming flavor and such is weird though.

Well it's also weird making mention of rule 1 and ignoring rule 2 from a total of 4.

I think Lopen looks too opportunistic. Believing red and suggesting power ups is what it is. Suggesting to rush it though is not a good look imo.

I think Dumey trying to work out what it says about other players if Lopen is scum before seemingly having gotten to Lopen being scum is weird.

you guys post too many big posts too early. this game barely started, you can't possibly have that much to say.

if red is being honest about his role then we as town decide who he gets to hammer. if he's a scum role at least we are forcing scum to hammer who we want, red shouldn't be given the luxury of choice here, not yet anyway.

I just don't know a red that thrusts himself into all talking points this early which leaves me to believe the role of hammer or die is a legit one.

Also, deaths "catchup" post without mentioning the miller claim (after he was scum last game and I immediately was suspect of him) is not a good look for him.

If I had to lynch anyone kn the spot right now, it would be death.

I thought it was funny that no one, myself included, even blinked at you, Sbell.

I believed Reds claim at first, but EDumey does bring up some decent counter points.

Yeah thats a good mandate to enforce. And to answer your other question, I believe only Edumey has said he thought Red was likelier to be scum.

Heres the thing about everyone saying scum red wouldnt do this. It doesnt really matter. If red is scum hes surely part of a scum team, and maybe reds scum mates would concoct such a plan.

That being said, I slightly lean towards believing red is telling the truth, yes, based on the claim itself and the drawback of drawing this much attention early if hes scum, even if he would get a power out of it.

flip side of things - red is scum and he can get a bonus by hammering. Doing it d1 makes sense in that scenario when the lynch is usually a shot in the dark and then youve got the bonus sooner. It would be foolish for us to completely assume red is town but I lean towards giving the benefit of the doubt for d1. Although I dont think I agreed with all his posts odds/probability stuff, I dont think its wrong that Dumey suggested red as a lynch candidate. Who knows if Dumey is town or not but I dont think its anti-town to point out we dont know for sure red is telling the truth and if we lynch red were either down one scum or one town instead of potentially two town.

that being said I agree with mzero theres no need to rush day, and I agree with ctes on finding it a little odd Lopen took off with the whole rush day to unlock a power thing. If red is telling the truth and if he will gain a power then Lopen isnt really even considering the possibility red will unlock said power simply by surviving to d2.

I also got a bit of a weird vibe from deaths catch up post.

To be more specific, deaths post felt a bit more like commenting on things and trying to come up with talking points opposed to organic reactions to the game so far. But I agree with not really seeing the problem in red stating his flavor, so I disagree with peaf there but see it as benign on both bct and peafs parts

Those to me were worthwhile talking points. I dont see how I 'came up' with them when one was already heavily discussed and the other was pretty clear as well.

Of course I was not there to react to those moments as they happened.

I almost forgot the part about EDumey, which I also still think is a topic worth discussing.

I would like to quickly point out that my Star Trek Mafia had an unused ability on the scum team where if Chris successfully hammered day 1 he'd get a double vote for day 2.

Chris ofcourse chose to kill himself in order to help pave the way for his team victory, but that's besides the point.

Maybe talking points wasnt the right term -commentary? You werent coming up with all the talking points themselves no. And Im not convinced youre scum by any means it just looked like what I sometimes did in my scum games which was having content but not really contributing much.

I would like to hear more from Lopen. My vote started as a joke yet I dont feel compelled to move it

Thats understandable, but I'd call that just a result of me being late to the party.
Even then I dont think anyone else brought up my points against Peaf and EDumey before I did.

Regardless I did think we had a Hammerer like that recently and Chris must have been what I am thinking of.

Oh i'm just pointing it out as it was one of the last 2 games played here.

Also worth mentioning it was Lopen who brought up unlocking powers inside Red by letting him hammer and Lopen was the one who helped me balance that same Star Trek Game.

If Red IS scum in the end I would think this ties Lopen to him.

I was more confused than angry (at least consciously) because I couldnt tell what you wanted to say about Red with that post.

Oh yeah the lopen special powers thing brought me right back to Mario and scumBen (even though it was originally proposed by Cody and it never went anywhere). I had a chuckle.

For now i am indifferent in red. But i agree that if he flips scum, lopen should be in the crosshairs immediately.

That said I dont doubt that Lopen has his ways to reach those conclusions in general.

Red was town in that game right?

I dont want red to tear off my face or anything but it would be an informative flip >_>

Yeah, because of course SBell would be a miller after 38 games as scum. Its the only logical role for him to roll. I also hummed and hawed over claiming it too.
Pros: honesty is the best policy; don't waste a cops time.
Cons: Out that there is a Cop in the game; one less not Town Power for scum to shoot blindly at night.

But in the end, first post miller claim usually wins out. Besides, in Star Trek Mafia I am fairly certain i had a Miller and No Cop, so for all we know i'm just a red herring and Sheep is mimicking my game.

Oh right I forgot the hammer role in Star Trek.

I don't think he was in that one.

But yeah, regardless of hammer stuff in the past. It's not as much about if red is truthful about being something coming from him hammering, it's about what he puts at stake, in this case saying he will die if it fails.

I disagree on this. Jumping to conclusions based on limited data is a common behavior of the Town Lopen. I could definitely see him convincing himself that red gets powers but only if he hammers in the first 12 hours. On the contrary, linking himself to red this early as scum/scum doesn't make a lot of sense.

Thats a good point mzero. I think town/town and town/scum are definitely the likeliest scenarios

Wrong sbell. I dont think red and Lopen are scum together. Could Lopen be scum, know red is town and be positioning himself to look good if red survives with a pro-town power or flips town? Sure could.
