Isn't that why MD exists, though? To test stupid things.

Besides, Block Dragon is banned so Redox should be less harmful and Tidal...uhh, which way Tidal is going to again?

Tidal is just one extra copy of Foolish Burial for water decks. I struggle to think of one that predominantly uses it, as Tears are largely Dark and Reinoheart Water. Not too consistent there, and dumping Reinoheart isn't anything too crazy. Good for Frogs but they fucking killed Frogs for good I think. Gishki? Icejade? Either way, nothing wild, just a decent addition

If Rank 7 turbo was actually a threat, Kashtira would run it. But they don't even slot in Auroradon when they summon it like it's breakfast. Otherwise 2 card consistency is pretty much what it is for the current Rank 7, which is already decently consistent

I want to experiment with Tidal in Marincess. Tidal being able to dump any monster to the GY opens up a lot of interesting targets to be revived with Coral Anemone, and it can special summon itself as a water extender too if needed. Plus, with an easy to summon level 7 like Tidal and an easy to summon water tuner like Fishborg Blaster or Crusadia Arboria, you can splash in synchros like Dragite and Chengying.

I forgot how sweaty the start of the season is. Im only half minding, the other half being rage at someone always having the counter. I did want this competition but wow is it eye opening. Been very hard to string together any wins.

I got back into Branded Bystial Despia and Im wondering if I made a mistake cause all I was seeing was Vanquish Soul and Kash variants. Also suddenly saw a ton of Exosisters which just hard counter me.

What kind of opponents do you all get matched with? Im not sure to be grateful or terrified that Im getting like WCS Top 10000, Duelist Cup Stage 2 Max, WCS Qualifiers Max, etc for their titles.

The Sprite-Gishki I saw two days ago was very neat, though that's because they negated Maxx C, otherwise they won't even dare summoning Nereimanas 3 times in a turn.

Purrely players are so fun to deck out. Just played a 40 turn duel against a guy and I used only about 4 cards.

I just sphere moded his purrelys, took the sphere mode back with remove brainwashing, and sat on my ass the rest of the duel.

This is why you always include a raigeki in the deck. I saved the replay and it is hilarious watching this guy making play after play and I am just sitting here like :). When he only had like 3 cards left in the deck, he scooped.

I love Vanquish Souls. They are such a fun deck and you can climb with them for sure. You just have to have the right balance of elements in the deck. There is a slight learning curve but its not as crazy as other decks, and it feels to good when it starts to click. And its pretty non linear in that even though you may be doing the same combos its never the same route/line every game.

Snow Devil is a crazy card. Its won me duels on using it correctly. We are in a format that doesnt have as much destruction protection let alone non targeting protection. Can really stagger or out right stop an opponents turn. Jiaolongs search is disgusting. Its a quick effect and can be done on both players turn for a whole archetype search (including spell and trap cards)

Edit: Also how could I forget. Stake your Soul! Your Nose is Mine! Stake your Soul is the most ultimate card to claim your opponents nostril and instantly win the duel - Milano, pro Yugioh player.
As an update, really enjoying Vanquish Souls. My biggest enemy with the deck is definitely the timer, but I also have issues with Branded Despia (which is ironically my pet deck before VS, though I turned it into a 60-card deck with Thunder Dragons so I could stuff as many royal rares as I could).

They are really fun arent they! And branded I feel is the counter to VS thats for sure. Branded can just out grind and they usually run bystials that can banish borger or mad love. But I love VS into the Mathmech match up. Razen can really flood gate the extra monster zone and it turns into a choke point if you have the Rock out forcing them into the other EMZ.

I am kinda all in on Branded this season though. Not a fan on the VS mirror match to be honest even though its not as bad as others. And I wanted a challenge plus getting back into fusions!

I got wild with it. There are weird things you can do where you end on this board: Megaclops, Sharakusai, Dragon Drive, PUNK Field, PUNK Trap, draw 2. You trade Whiptail for 1 Ratpier when she comes, and she makes this combo extremely consistent. Barrage is optional thus far but potentially it's just better. It's super weak to destruction sadly

I'm looking for a way to get Draco Future and Drident on board, but for now, you can only really do it on going 2nd using Downerd, but I realize you can just use Zeus.

Got a pseudo towers, 3 hand traps, a trap negate, 4x bounce, and with Ratpier, you can still have the PUNK field spell (have to destroy with Drident to get a Zoo in gy for effect, which is super lame) leave Drident in the ED and can use Zoo for Zeus package.

I think it's only mildly stronger than Kash Tear but have better match up against random things. Megaclops isn't that great tbh. You can make a case for making this a strictly going second deck.

PUNK Tear was more popular when they had more names and Ishizus to work with. You just use them to summon Chaos Ruler and Vampire rank 8 to mill uhh 9 or something like that. It's pretty good even now but if you miss, your turn is just a bunch of beatsticks

Yeah I mean they have to summon Kit in the first place, which is why the 9 comes first and is the most important. 9/30ish (initial 5 draws and any PUNK search/draw or pulls) isn't that high a probability to mill the 2 you need for Kit.

I dunno why people ever called it control. It's just not, it's always been Umi Stun. There's not that much recursion, and the way they win is via a heavily protected floodgate setup

It's kinda funny to see now why people are like Ratpier at 1 is significant vs people who are like Ratpier at 1 does literally the same as 0.

Trying it out, Ratpier at 1 is actually a huge buff. It's easy to think Zoos are just the same power with or without the mill, but it really does turn out that the Ratpier Zoo mill enabling Chakanine is literally the only thing that makes the combo work without drawing 2 Zoos. It allows you to run 2-3 Zoo main deck rather than relying on a janky Thoroughblade discard, which requires a much bigger Zoo package

I don't even think Barrage is all that important. I'll try it out with 1 Barrage at best, but IIRC Barrage just enables an Ape and Drident on board, which is not that threatening, and it still does nothing to assuage their inherent weakness against destruction

Either way, PUNK Zoo Kash will be my playground for the next meta. I don't think it's crazy strong, but it's pretty fun. It's probably what Gold Pride was to TCG's PUNK

I've had pure Zoodiacs built in MD for like a year and all they've been is Zeus turbo with a fuckton of handtraps and boardbreakers. I'm interested to see what possible turn 1 plays this stuff coming off the banlist opens up. Maybe I'll throw Zoodiac Tri-Brigade together too. I've been looking for an excuse to use the Tri-Brigade cards ever since the Nimble Beaver hit basically killed Spright Tri-Brigade.

They're worse than Kashtira splash in majority of the decks. I'm only considering it cuz I can make rank 3 like nothing with PUNKs and still do other things.

3 Barrage is not that consistent, and 1 Ratpier prevents a more powerful Future Draco line

Aw some of a gun... I forgot Ratpier only procs when normal summoned... Ok this makes them significantly worse by a massive margin

Ye, 1 Tuner + non-Tuner Dragon monster basically screams dragon pile. More stats than Baronne and without the 'once per face up in the field' so the negate always live.

Although like Chaos Angel, it basically requires a Bystial. Unlike Chaos Angel, though, it does need a Tuner of which basically Rokket Tracer in dragon pile.

Also from the wording it can target face down banish card.

Also Ritual Beasts did end up topping in Japan and nearly won a tournament. Looks like a massive boost in its battle plan's consistency and 2-3 more interruptions put on the monsters was more than enough to put them in the realm of viability. I'm hoping they get their time in the sun for more than a few metas, but it might result in the new Lara being hit on the banlist, which would be a personal affront to me.

Stun v.2. I went for more quantity of draw cards that way I can just chain them together to get the cards I need. Since I dont use the extra deck anymore, I may be able to use some other cards that require no extra deck, like that one pendulum card which just lets you draw 1 for free.

I'm leaning on my trusty Live Twin Spright, which has been my mainstay since Sprights were introduced. Well, it's not really fair to phrase it like that, because it's more accurate to say that Live Twins have been my mainstay since I started playing and Sprights gave them a new competitive edge~

I don't go very hard in the cup, though. Sweating too much about it gets really stressful. My policy now is to just do enough duels to clear the missions and wherever I land, that's what I live with. Of course, I only first adopted this policy in the last cup and ended at DLV 19, so still pretty sweaty anyway~

The funny thing is, I don't think I've ever run into Bystials with it. I did briefly try out Ghost Belle specifically for protection against Bystials and Called By, but it came up so rarely that I kinda just stopped bothering. Of course, all things considered, I'm pretty casual, so maybe I'm just not ranked high enough to run into the really nasty stuff~

Mikanko is pretty much my emergency "switch to this if I get frustrated" deck at this point. Decks built to blind second are often good for that since you're not at the mercy of the coin flip (except for the much rarer times where you run into another blind second deck and lose the toss) and Mikanko are a much more consistent blind second deck than most others, including my beloved Sky Strikers.

That being said, Mikankos are currently craft-only due to their selection pack being expired and them not having a secret pack yet. If you really want a blind second deck but don't already have the Mikanko cards from when they were in the store, it would probably be more resource-friendly to build Numerons instead.

I pulled Mikankos. I just need to make some more cards to round up the parts (including somehow getting a beatstick to nullify 'no monster on the other side' problem).

Or I can just use Adventurer's Curse of Aramesir.

Edit: of course Immortal Phoenix Gearfried. Card's pretty good.

(including somehow getting a beatstick to nullify 'no monster on the other side' problem).

There are 3 solutions that Mikanko regularly uses for that:

1) Use Fire Dance to summon one of the opponent's handtraps from their GY to their field, then drop a Kaiju over it.

2) Summon Ashura King. If you make it with 3 materials and attack 3 times with it, it leaves your opponent on 500 LP (2300+2500+2700=7500) if they're at their starting 8000 LP, and then you turn it into a Zeus to deal with their attempted comeback. If you can somehow make it with 4 materials (unlikely but not impossible) or the opponent has lost/paid 500 LP already, then it OTK's.

3) Equip Double-Edged Sword to one of your Mikanko monsters and attack with it. The opponent will take 4000 damage from the attack, both the 2000 ATK hitting them and the 2000 damage the DES would normally do back to you being reflected by the Mikanko to the opponent. That lets you kill over 2 turns, or OTK with a combination of Mayowashidori (to return the first attacking Mikanko to your hand and send DES to the GY) and a summoned Ohime (to equip DES from the GY to herself and then attack for another 4000 and game.

It is with heavy heart that I declare PUNK Zoo to be not all that good. The problem is that it's better to use Instant Contact, which is really hard to make space for in the ED when min 4 of them need to be Zoos. Drident pop is great, and this deck ultimately summons IP + Drident. The problem with it is that Instant Contact Kash heavy PUNK simply does more because they can easily summon Baronne/Chungus/PUNK setup. I kept trying for a potential Draco Future setup or Drident, but it's just not good. The biggest problem is that Invoker is a rank 3.

I tried an IP + Drident setup, but it's too ED hungry

Between the Punk Tear but it's actually Slifer but it's actually actually Exodia FTK and the "You should self-OTK yourself... NOW!" replays, this might be one of my favorite Coder sub replay videos ever. It's absolutely insane how much weird shit people cook up in this game.

Yeah there are so many funny Slifer janks. I guess Slifer is the one with the most unique mechanics, technically.

I'm gonna tell you guys right now, after today, or maybe even halfway through tomorrow, all Zoo cope builds will disappear

I'm gonna go full in. I'm hearing like VS Zoo bullshit. No. It's bad. I actually quite like Zoo, but it's really really bad. Please do not waste URs on Barrage. Don't be me

It seems win more to me and you have to add in semi bricks into a list that needs consistency. If VS isnt getting the elements let alone Razen access its just a steep climb to win.

I have been just a Branded degenerate so I can say much but I havent seen much Vanquish soul on Ladder or DC. And I havent seen any one do Barrage plays if I do run into them.
