What's special about this Portal compared to the failure that was the Portal in the last game?

Apparently it allows far more versatility for customization. You get direct access into the maps themselves with the Godot Engine so you can edit stuff like camera, custom UI, moving any object in the maps, setting event flags, etc.

The Portal looks incredibly interesting. It seems to be using a custom version of the Godot Engine, which is huge. I wanted Godot to get the exposure it deserves as an open source engine, I hope EA is putting some money into the project too.

Very briefly. I was really young, playing in the playpen of a McDonald's, and somehow even though my parents were in the building, I got confused and saw another family get up and leave, so I followed them to their car. The family looked back at me with confusion and then my dad (or mom?) picked me up.

It's one of my few vivid toddler memories.

Like seriously, I know the whole "open world gimmick" is sorta getting old, but the initial pitch for MGS3 was to have it be set in an open world jungle. That's more of what I wanted out of an MGS3 remake considering how the jungle area in MGSV looked.

Really weird that they're specially curating these by region even though a lot of the games are coming out worldwide. There's a bunch of other games that would've looked awesome in the international direct.

Yeah, Ive heard a lot of random complaints about the soundtrack, but idk what people are talking about Im absolutely loving it. They did a really great job capturing some of the great atmospheric feel of classic DKC tracks (The Divide, Radiance, Forest, Freezer, etc) and the more melody-driven ones are uplifting and fun (Lagoon, Canyon, and Feast being big highlights for me). Then of course, theres the classic tune remixes, which have all been outstanding. And the Bananza themes are all outlandishly silly and some are super catchy (Zebra and Ostrich being my faves). Its crazy good, there are practically no misses.

Big thing is increased chance at getting the lap-type courses when racing randoms in online. Still no guaranteed method like at launch but at least it's a little better than it was.

Also they made the COM players weaker in all modes except Battle, as well as decreased the chances of getting Triple Mushrooms when falling behind. Sounds like an attempt to nerf the bagging strat (intentionally falling behind, guaranteeing Mushroom boosts, so you can overtake 1st at the last second).

Yoshi's Island has a difficult final boss fight?

It was when I first played it, lol. Learning depth perception in a 2D space was a somewhat difficult thing to throw at you when it didn't exist in the game before.

But yeah, the final boss in Bananza is great. The postgame is even harder if you're looking for challenge.

The only things I thought were cool about that game is: Dante's design, and the ability to wall run (even though it's kinda useless considering the combat design).

After rewatching the Mario Odyssey finale I think I can say that the team really outdid themselves with DK Bananza on that regard.

Yep. Anyone remember that indie game Mouthwashing that got popular? It got removed on itch because of its content due to that update on content restrictions.

You may be happy that "porn games" are removed (speaking to the ones who said that on here), but for one, people of age should be allowed to buy/play those anyway. Secondly, it's not just affecting those games, it's affecting any game that has content deemed too "problematic." You can't tackle difficult subjects in media anymore with this even if you have the ability to do it tactfully.

Finished the SF Route and got all 100 endings. Wow. It basically wrapped up almost everything, except for a couple of brand new elements in that route that they didn't bother explaining, which feel like DLC/sequel bait. Great route otherwise.

I'm currently on the SF Route now, it's my final one. I haven't been able to put the game down, I'd definitely say this is one of the better ones.

I watched my SO play it and don't quite get the hype. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a fun game. But doesn't smashing things to pieces and collecting tons of stuff become repetitive very quickly?

Maybe I'll give it a shot one day. So far, it looks more like an 8/10 to me.

I thought so too when I first saw it, but for me playing it is a different experience altogether. Feels great to control and the visual/audio response for smashing stuff is really addicting. There's also quite a few collectibles that give a bit of challenge too, like platforming challenges or trying to figure out a puzzle.

^It is a retcon, but it's a lot simpler than you think. (Or at least that's what I came up with based on hints. It's like they took a page from the Zelda team on letting players figure out lore.)

The simple answer that seems to be the case is that: the characters in the arcade game are all completely different characters. The Lady is hinted at possibly being Pauline's grandmother, and Jumpman might be Mario's grandfather. Lines up with Cranky being the original Kong and also a grandfather.

^Also didn't help that storytelling wasn't great either, leading to confusion on what certain scenes were supposed to be interpreted as.

And also that doesn't fix my main issue with the final meeting with Adam, which is ...the way he stopped Samus from killing herself by going into Sector Zero was, in itself, a risky maneuver that could've gotten her killed anyway. She was about to kill a Metroid in front of her, suddenly gets shot in the back that disables her suit, which makes her MORE vulnerable to the Metroid's attack, before he freezes it and kills it. Now, I wouldn't mind this if he somehow knew for a fact that particular Metroid could be frozen. Maybe that's what he says in the Japanese script. But in the English script, when Samus asks about it, HE MAKES A FUCKING GUESS. That means he didn't know for certain that Metroid could've been frozen, so what would've happened if the Metroid couldn't be frozen and his little stunt helped kill the very person he was trying to protect? Fucking dumb.

The scene was literally only there to give players a shock on "oh no the Deleter finally came after Samus" without thinking how logically, that action doesn't make sense for Adam to do. It'd be better if that Metroid wasn't there at all so Samus wouldn't be in danger, but I'd still think it a dick move for him to do.

I primarily use cash because it's easier for me to keep track of in order to curb my spending habits, so I'd be all for places accepting cash more.

Pretty much. Everyone is different but if all parties involved in this situation are okay with it, it's not in anybody else's place to judge what's going on. People saying Pascal or Kirby are creeps have no leg to stand on because they both consent to the touching and Kirby's husband has no problem with it and trusts it not to get any further than that.

My take is that they shouldn't just abandon the idea of 3D, non-first-person Metroid because of Other M. Sure, the execution for it sucked hard, but it doesn't mean they can't try again. Especially since one of the more notable things about it, which is Samus getting more physical with the enemies to show off her agility and strength, is used in the Metroid 2 remake and Dread to great results and people generally like those games.

Federation Force?

Depends what you consider "worst game in the series." Is it worst because it just doesn't play like a Metroid game at all? Then sure, it'd probably be alongside Prime Pinball in that regard. But as an actual game it's actually a pretty fun Metroid-themed extraction shooter. Just came out at a really bad time. Though having said that, though it can be played single-player it's clearly designed with co-op multiplayer in mind, and the online for 3DS is dead so it can't be used anymore.

Edit: If they basically just remade Federation Force as a multiplayer mode for Prime 4 I think it'd be much better received. Reason why I say it should be bundled with Prime 4 is because it unironically sets up for what Prime 4's plot is.
