Dont get me wrong, Nintendo have plenty of time to make the Switch 2 a good console, but at the moment, it seems like an absolute disaster. Of course, people will buy it in droves anyway, but thats not really the point Im making.

I think Nintendo was a little overconfident in Mario Kart World and some third-parties that most people have already played would carry the launch. They are still following the "make sure there's at least one big first-party release per month" strategy, let's see if it still pays off. I do think DK Bananza should've been a launch title alongside Mario Kart though at the very least.

That's not actually how it works though. When someone says "yeah the price is really bad, I don't like it, so I went and pre-ordered 5 copies of the mario kart switch 2 edition because look at that box art. They went hard on that box art. And I ordered all the games and accessories full price, and bought breath of the wild (two copies) for $120 even though I own the game on switch already, this is great". That's not actually 'begrudgingly'. That's a brand addict in denial.

I know it's hyperbole but only the most hypocritical of Youtubers ever did something similar to that, lol.

That said, I wanna say that the price issue was never about the console itself, it was the games. I thought $450 for the console was pretty decent, but $70/$80 pricing has really limited how often I buy games.

Ultimately I think what Nintendo needs to do is to course-correct quickly. Add race preference options to random racing instead of only limiting it to local, friends, or private lobbies. Said preferences will include options like item customization, speed preference, default or 3-lap courses only...you know, like how even MK8 offered before they removed it in the re-release. I dunno what their issue is with limiting online options in Mario Kart recently.

I know absolutely fuck-all about this game.

The segments are basically: instead of a 3-lap race around a course, you have to drive to the course first and only do 1 lap. These driving segments to the courses are famously described as straight lines on wide highways with not much to do unless you have items. Hell, I read somewhere that during development they realized these segments were boring, and that's when they came up with the advanced trick system to spice it up. Stuff like rail grinding, wall/cliff riding, bouncing on cars, etc. But the funny thing is that the trick system only truly shines in the courses themselves anyway, trying to do a bunch of tricks on these in-between segments can easily slow you down.

Online, you can get around this and only select 3-lap courses if you set up a private room for people to join. But random you don't have the luxury.

I haven't played online in a few days (been mostly trying to complete the free roam stuff) but that sucks if true. I imagine many people are just going back to Mario Kart 8 DX.

There's two explanations: they're either just pussies, like you said, or Trump has connections to assassinate people who get in his way. The latter may veer into conspiracy territory but it's practically the only thing I can think of as to why so many people bow to Trump so willingly.

I'm gonna be honest, him giving "pet" names to other leaders and having senior moments is a drop in the bucket compared to the actual harm him and his cult are doing. So I don't really care about this.

Instead of saying "it won't happen", we'd better prepare for if it does. Because Trump has gotten away with a whole lot of shit these past few months alone and the chance of him trying and successfully stopping the election process is higher than nil.

I do kinda wonder about that. For some games the story enhances the overall experience of it so I dunno how a "gameplay only" mode would work. Imagine The Order 1886 with all the cutscenes removed? I think it'd legit be an hour game with an okay third-person shooter gameplay.

Made a new topic since the other one got derailed over personal issues and they can't seem to drop it. I made sure that won't happen again in this one.

The last I heard about the bill is that enough Republicans are voting no on it to obstruct passing it.

I agree and I'm glad to hear it! I actually really liked that Mario Kart World decided to add Mario only characters. People complained about that decision, but I love the Mario series and appreciate Swoop in my Mario game over Garfield. Crossovers can be fun, but a series needs to stand on its own to some degree. When all the big news about your game is that there is a crossover, I don't think that's a good thing tbh.

Yeah, Nintendo's reasoning is that with the open world design of the game they wanted the game to be firmly planted in the Mushroom Kingdom so it doesn't feel like a bunch of unrelated worlds mashed together. Definitely a solid way of handling it, I just wish the character roster was a little bit more...thoughtful I guess? Instead of filling it with enemy hazard characters.

I'm sure it was like this before but this image puts it into perspective. CoD was slop before, granted, but it still maintained some sort of identity as a war game with soldiers. But them chasing the BR/Fortnite crowd turned CoD into this.

Ah that sucks, I was hoping something like, skipping exploration just defaults to like a Simple Exploration where you get a random assortment of materials with no character boosts.

It might have been, honestly. I went back to it a couple months ago (Steam version with mods to make it stable and more Dreamcast-accurate, no gameplay changes) to see if I was just nostalgic for it and no, I truly do love it a lot, one of my favorites in the series. I was a casual Sonic fan before, having mostly watched the SatAM cartoon, played a bit of Sonic 2 Genesis at another kid's house, and played the Sonic 3 Collection on PC, but it wasn't until Sonic Adventure 2 where it made me want to get all the games.

Yeah, I literally tried to look up what Mamdani said about Jews specifically and all I got was that he is very staunchly against anti-semitism but has opinions about Israel. What those opinions are, I don't know yet, but it sounds like he's not entirely favorable towards that nation-state right now.

I think people like Swalwell need to shut the fuck up about this if they're gonna be coy and not be specific about what they're talking about.

It works generally, but I think when against a fascist or near-fascist rule, it's gonna require more than signs and yelling and blocking streets. But hopefully this can be done peacefully still before it's too late.

Anyway, people aren't done protesting anyway. No Kings protests are coming back on July 4th, and potentially more times in the future.

Does it really? Or is it just that the different engine used in the Shadow half is throwing people off with the original game? Sonic Generations was great but its physics weren't perfect at all. Especially Classic Sonic.

Yeah, I touched on it a few posts up. At the very least you could probably go through one of the sub-routes once and then skip through the others since once you've seen one sub-route you've seen them all.

The other choice (I think it's "Stay Behind" or something) leads to a far more interesting storyline.

Yep, I remember that the console itself told me that and I was like "...well that's kinda dumb."

At least the controller still works otherwise, but I have to hit the power button on the console manually. Not too huge a deal I guess but still.

I've seen a couple of them on the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World boards.

But yeah it is a minority. Most don't really like the change, even the ones who actually like the routes system. It just removes options, you basically have to create public rooms in order to get around it.

Yeah, the spoilers here are pretty much unsafe now that you only just got the ability to make choices. I'm on the complete opposite side of the choice you chose right now so I can't see any spoilers from there.

Origins has the best boss fight in the entire series. Then he comes back in Arkham Knight and man... we don't talk about him in Arkham Knight.

The way it was teased too just twists the knife more. He talks a big game about wanting to beat you hand-to-hand, and when you finish his side mission and he jumps out of his car with weapons ready...he immediately goes down in one attack in a cutscene. I think that pissed me off more than just not having a hand-to-hand fight with him.
