Rick is going through a phase where he has just gone through the Governor, Joe's group, and now Terminus. Ruthless people with no remorse. He's seeing that people who have been changed by this apocalypse in a negative light are the majority. When he tore out Joe's throat it was like 'if you can't beat them, join them'. As he, Penguin and the others were kneeling, Gareth and his men just walked about as if it was another casual day talking business as they were about to slaughter several people for meat. No final words, just dead. While horrific what happened in the church seemed somewhat justified. It was kill or be killed by these people.

The next 8 episodes will focus not only on Beth but Rick's internal struggle on whether he can trust the outside.

So that Shane thing I wanted to mention. This is a comic spoiler. If you haven't read them and intend to, then ignore this post.

You may recall the scene from S1 E5 where Rick and Shane are in the woods. Shane is frustrated and aims his gun at Rick from afar, but ultimately doesn't shoot and we see Dale was watching. Well in the comic this scene was the end of Shane. Carl was the one who saw Shane aiming at his father and shot him then and there. Then Rick put him down after he turned (several issues later). Shane never reached the farm.

The well supplied their water. Otis did the hunting. They probably can foods themselves and store them. and the zombies were in more heavily populated areas. Living on a farm in the middle of nowhere has benefits.

Regarding this, minor spoiler I guess...

You'll see more instances of this throughout Season 1. Some zombies show a little more intelligence, such as climbing, vaguely recalling how to use a door knob, and more. This is removed starting with Season 2.

Using the previous established point (January 1 of U.C. 0001 being on a Wednesday), the earliest year it could've been is 2048 AD.

If Tomino's draft for the Universal Century calendar is correct, it would closely put 2045 in the same place as 0001, and then placing 0079 with 2124.
