Try taking the Hades boon that makes Chronos summon half as many minions if you haven't already, it makes the fight a lot less chaotic and more about just reacting to whatever Chronos does.

Thanks! I used to use the bow, and you'd need to retrieve the casts in Hades 1 anyway, so maybe I'm just used to the loop of: attack at close range -> retreat while enemy attacks -> attack from long range -> approach when safe. There were definitely situations where I lost track of the skulls and got punished but it still felt exceedingly safe compared to the other weapons.

I think if I want to use the other weapons well I have to get used to using the omega attacks more often, but they just don't fit my playstyle. Even with the bow in Hades 1 I barely used its charge shot.

I beat Chronos for real and got new dialogue so I'm choosing to write off the dialogue after beating Eris as something that will make sense retroactively once the rest of that area is finished.

Yeah I kinda feel like they should've just held it back until it's finished? Hard to say what the best approach for early access games is. But it was definitely annoying to have it cut short, especially when I beat it on my first uncursed attempt.

The other characters also act like you just beat Chronos afterward, and since I haven't done that legit yet it got slightly spoiled for me I guess. Weird.

So I picked up the game today and did 5 runs.

Run 1 died to Hecate, almost had her though
Run 2 and 3 died to the sirens
Run 4 and 5 died to Infernal Beast and that fight feels sooo rough

I have gotten Eris every single run after the first.

I beat Hades OG for the first time on run 7 so this definitely feels a bit harder. On the other hand that was definitely a fluke and I needed about another 7 runs to be able to win consistently.

Struggling with the weapons, as others have said. I need an equivalent of the bow from the first game, where it's insanely strong and super long range and kills everything and has practically zero flaws. It's called balance. Hoping I'll like the axe when I unlock it.

I don't have much to add. The vibes are immaculate, the photo hunt aspect isn't the best. Scoring is almost completely unimportant. I enjoyed it, though. The environmental storytelling is great! Overall, definitely the best Full Metal Jacket x Evangelion fangame I've ever played.

Ace Attorney should be here but y'all couldn't behave. Also I've always thought of Myst as more of a puzzle game but admittedly it straddles the line.

Some tips for Umurangi for anyone struggling with it:

-You can super jump by double-tapping the jump key as quickly as possible. The faster you do it, the higher your jump. Your regular jump is pathetic so you should basically do this by default. Above all else, I wish I had known this from the start.

-Most levels are smaller than you'd think. There is never any guidance about where to go for your delivery but what you're looking for is a glowing red box and it's typically not very hidden. It only appears once you've completed the photo bounties, so focus on doing those before looking for it.

-If you're going for the postcard bonus, there's a glowing green box somewhere on the level that indicates where you should stand to take the photo.

-Falling off the level or into a hazard will respawn you at the stage's start, which can be useful as a shortcut since you keep all your progress.

-Doing a level's bonus objectives (including beating the time limit) just unlocks more fuck-around gear for your camera and some achievements, at least in the main game (I'm still working on the DLC). Nothing important seems to be locked behind it.

-A lot of times the game will give you credit for a photo subject that's partially (or even completely) hidden behind something else. So if you're really having trouble finding a photo bounty, you can just take a couple shots with the wide angle lens and see if anything works (unless the shot requires a different lens/closer proximity).

-I've found that half the fun of the game is absorbing all the advertisements, fake movie posters, propaganda posters, etc. There's a lot of detail and world-building put into each level if you care to look for it!

I kinda agree. I do photography IRL and I care about the actual photo there, but there's something inherently unsatisfying about doing it in a video game. It doesn't mesh well with the time limit aspect either -- even with no penalty for going over time, just having a timer makes you feel the need to rush.

On the other hand I dislike how some other photo games let horrible pictures slide, i.e. you got 3 pixels of the right subject in frame so it counts for the photo hunt. Umurangi is more strict about that, which I appreciate.

Played Umurangi Generation for about an hour and either there's something about this game's 1st person perspective that makes me motion sick or I just got insanely nauseous for an unrelated reason. It's a short enough game that I can probably get through it but man, I wish I knew what causes this. I play plenty of games and so far only this and Tomb Raider (2013) have ever given me issues.

Game-wise it's much more of an actually-using-a-camera sim than other photography games like Pokemon Snap, Toem, etc. The time limits seem pretty strict and they are but there's really not a penalty for going over them. I suspect you're meant to take your time on your first run and then redo the level knowing where everything is to get a clean run that's under time.

Surprised by how dark the game's lore and general tone is. Did not expect the setting to be the aftermath of kaiju attacks and at least one atomic bombing.

The most technically impressive arcade game I've played/seen in person is probably Halo: Fireteam Raven but notably that's a 2018 release and something happened a few years afterward that made me not go to arcades since then. So I dunno.

This is great sentiment but the reality is that an executive's job is to extract value from something while destroying it in the process. So instead of trying to find an exec who actually cares (lol), why not figure out how to make games without involving corporate executives at all

If you think about it VNs are really Metroidvania games. Progressing through the text unlocks more text to explore, and eventually you might have to backtrack to take a different route that you skipped earlier.

This one is loaded. You can easily have a solid Rushmore with just arcade-y arcade games (it'd be Pac-Man, Galaga, Space Invaders, and Donkey Kong tbh) or one with just games that use peripherals/unique control schemes. I tried to strike a balance but realistically a fighting game (almost certainly SF2) and a puzzle game deserve to be on here too.

Assault is definitely the better game tbh

I would not think twice about a 37-year-old calling themselves mid-30s, for whatever that's worth.
