Are you kidding me? The fact that you could see other people get the BIG or RARE things is a massive factor in people buying them themselves. Twitch is by far the biggest and best place to show off those fat loots so that your target audience sees it on their favorite streamer and clamors to buy it themselves.

You don't feel the need to get something if you never see it. And Twitch is the biggest window into what you could be getting.

There was a time where if my favorite Hearthstone streamers were stomping with a deck that I didn't have the cards for, I'd log in and buy packs to hope to either get the cards, or enough dust to make them. You'd be crazy to not think Twitch fueled that fire.

That and every big game ever needs to have some kind of competitive multiplayer in order to stay hip and cool with the youths.

I feel like both of these things were already big before Twitch got huge itself, and so it was moreso people on Twitch taking advantage of trends than dictating trends themselves.

Sure, but that doesn't change the fact that game devs took notice and tried to take advantage. Doesn't make what I said untrue.

The funny thing is, as I booted up X6 I expected to hate it with a furious frustration, but I got through the first part pretty easily, and even had a good level of fun with it.

Then...the bullshit started coming. And I started having an absolutely awful time. I was 2 hours into a stream/recording and could not stop, cause if I did I would have to do all of the awful Gate stages over again. Was very tilted, and the episode will be going up on our channel soon.

X-X5 was an absolute treat though. There's a reason this is my favorite series ever.

Yeah, and also it had the balls to try something new. Something most game devs are terrified of doing nowadays (save Nintendo) so I give it points for that. It's bad, yes. But MMX6 is one of the most frustrating, terribly designed, and rushed games I've ever played. So many no win scenarios and just unnecessary nightmare effects completely ruin the experience.

I guess that is certainly one extremely jank way of getting across, one which the developers probably did not expect. But at the same time, they didn't expect much other than to pump this game out as quickly as possible. The story isn't terrible though, given all that. Except Zero's "Repaired myself" retcon.

On my next playthrough I'll try that level rotation. Does it assume you beat the investigator or does it matter?

Yup, I've been doing a series on our Youtube channel/Twitch trying to get both Platinum Trophies on the X Legacy collections, and I've mentioned pretty much all of these things you did. I hate it, X7 is much more playable than X6 ever is. It's so badly designed. I just finished it on Twitch thankfully, but I didn't get the "Experience all 8 Nightmare Effects" trophy even though I went into ever Red level, or Beat all 8 Mavericks before Gate's level opens up. So I GUESS I GOTTA PLAY IT AGAIN!

Thank GOD there is no "Save every Reploid" trophy or I'd lose my mind.

What you didn't mention was the biggest thing that pissed me off. In Gate 2, you beat High Max and go to the next level, and if you took an armor without an air dash, you also, much like the museum, CANNOT progress forward.

So I figured, no big deal, I'll just switch armors and go back in with Blade armor. NOPE! It sends you back to the start of High Max's level, because I guess Gate 2 is actually TWO full levels lumped into one, and the impossible jump is only near the end of the SECOND PART.

Game is awful. Great music though, and the Shadow Armor is kind of fun when it's not impossible to progress.

Maybe something in the middle, like you can only use the first thing you see, and you can only catch things you don't already have.

Ooo I do like that. Restricts what you can catch while not walling your progress.

Incredible doesn't mean what it used to if anyone truly thinks this game's qualify. The art is nice and it's pretty, but the graphics would have been easily possible on a Playstation 3.

More polygons =/= better. I get a great deal of enjoyment out of the graphics, and that to me makes them incredible.

I've been toying with the idea of having 2 people play simultaneously side by side, using Nuzlocke rules and seeing who can beat the E4/Catch Mewtwo first. This would of course make up for the lack of difficulty because at that point you would be competing more against each other, than the game itself. We could even have friendly matches at certain points in the game, potentially for bonus points.

Maybe a 1 point for each Gym you beat BEFORE the other, or lose 1 point for having a Pokemon faint. Would there be any interested in that?

As far as Nuzlocke rules they would be:

Nickname all Pokemon
1 Pokemon Caught Per Route/Dungeon (The one that spawns physically closest to you upon entering)
If a Pokemon Faints, they get released/discarded. If Pikachu/Eevee faint, they get permanently benched.
Battle style would be set to "Set" (If that's even possible in this game.

Would there be any interest in setting up a series like this? Trying to think of some new unique ideas for the channel.

i've really come around on a lot of conceptual stuff about the game i wasn't a fan of, largely due to nanis' topic on the board here. but stripping away abilities and held items really still doesn't sit well with me. who thought that stuff was too complicated?!

Not really stripping them away if they were never in RBY to begin with. This is a remake of the original games after all.
