One of my favorite concepts is always "Donkey Kong 64, but every Kong is controlled by a different person". Because it's just stupid enough for me to always be hooked on and DK64 is a trainwreck to watch in the best way. But I will gladly watch any of the three suggested to death.

Damn those are some nice, crisp, sexy audio levels though. So clear and lovely, mnnnnnn. Background track seems a bit low compared to the sound effects but that's my only note.

Is this something that's already been done on Youtube? Cause that's pretty awesome. What's the name of the series?

Are you saying we should only play one game/series exclusively to build a base then do other games?

Cuphead we unfortunately cancelled. BB and Taylor weren't really bringing it and lost interest, and the last episode we did had exactly 0 progress. They ended up more frustrated at that point. I'm glad you enjoyed Twin Snakes, that was one of my favorites so far for sure. And one of our least viewed!

I do want to get another Retro game on the go after RCT2 is done. There are four episodes of that. Thinking of getting into a series we haven't touched yet.

Not the entire thing by any means. Just attack animations, taking damage animations, and maybe some mild sprite movement during dialogue. Think of it like classic FF. The screen will have a background, character names, maybe some stats, and I'm debating showing the rolls on screen too but it might be a lot of extra work for not a lot of benefit.

Yeah that's a whoooooole lot of editing I don't think I'm prepared to do.

Although, now that you say that, when the Grumps had the G club podcast, their audio waves would flicker as people talked. Do you think there would be a way to map that to a gif? Maybe have the player select blinking square go off when that specific mic is being active? I could look into that.

In the mean time I will try to use people's names much more often. This is good feedback.

Another way is to record via Twitch and then post those videos on YT (check out FarFromSubtle/Video Games are Awesome). The upside to this is that you can interact with a stream which gives you an audience in and of itself.

I personally don't like those videos. It's just a guy talking to himself. Yes, he's talking to chat. But most of the time chat isn't shown in a VOD and you get no context. It doesn't have a lot of rewatchability and timeless quality. I also would never be able to have any kind of consistent streaming schedule with the way my life is.

One of the big things I've noticed from channels like yours (multi-player no-cam LPs) like GameGrumps and Best Friends Play is that they usually have a pretty small number of players consistently and it's pretty easy to distinguish who's who (ex. I'm more likely to watch a GameGrumps video with Dan than without because I find him funnier)

On your character select, there's a LOT of people, and in the video it's a little tough to keep track of who's who (which also is partially because it's not big enough for anyone to be famous yet obviously).

How many people actually are on your team that play regularly? Is there anyway to make it clearer who's who, especially in regards to keeping track of players over the course of multiple games?

We got that criticism back in "season 1" which was the entire inspiration for the Character intro, the character select screen, the name call out (Smash Bros style) and the sprites themselves. There are maybe only 4-ish people on the select screen that don't regularly play. The rest all play now and again.

Is it really hard to distinguish who is who after their name is announced, their sprite is selected, and their player number is displayed under their head the entire time? I guess I don't know how I could give you any more information.

Editing does take an insanely long time. I have a friend (and also participant) on the channel who helps me to edit 40%-ish of the episodes. But I make all the art, animations, intros, thumbnails, and run the recording studio in my basement.

I'm starting to lean towards some older more obscure games myself. I'm just not super into the entire clickbait culture, and would rather make what I feel is quality stuff that I actually enjoy rather than get all the views.

Of course, having my cake and eating it too would be the preferred outcome. But that's hard to do with a full time job and a baby/wife/house/3 pets.

I'm hoping the top 10 lists, and the Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 Versus quest differentiates us a bit.

Our earlier videos were about the length. The issue we ran into with one episode per game/week, was that we ended up playing the same game for way, way longer than we wanted to. And Youtube's algorithm also favors daily, 30 minute videos. So we decided for our own sanity and potentially for some SEO, we'd do 30 minute episodes.

The best way to do best of videos across multiple videos is to make it as you go, rather than after the fact. If theres a bit of a vid you think is good and would work well on its own, either make a note of the video and time stamp or copy that part of the video to another project as youre editing/reviewing it.

Yep. We started to do that, but for some reason we just kind of fell off the wagon. Comes with losing motivation/not enough time in the day I suppose.

I feel like when we do the clickbaity, flavor of the week games we immediately get lost in a fast ocean of bigger channels. It's impossible to find us then.

Best of/highlight videos are something we do occasionally. But holy hell, they are SO MUCH WORK.

As someone with a full time job and a new baby, watching through our entire catalog of videos to find highlights is basically impossible. It's just too much, and I've barely got 2 hours of free time a day. I do agree though, I think they would help.

Peridiam your channel is legit. And that's some crazy fast growth, congrats!

Let's Plays are over-saturated for sure, and I recognize that's our biggest hurdle by far. We have some unique ideas coming up that I'm hoping will differentiate us a little. We've had some new ideas before. Mega Man Challenge, Two Surgeons One Hand, and our 24 hour Extra Life stream went off amazingly well.

We're going to start doing some top 10 lists, which are in essence Clickbaity without actually being clickbait (if that makes any sense).

We also have Versus Quest coming up, and new series where we enact a set of challenges for two people to perform to see who wins in a single player game. Our first one being Roller Coaster Tycoon. I have high hopes for that, but yes I realize it's still an old game.

What are your thoughts on game choice? Should we be doing the flavor of the week games? Or should we be doing some obscure, underrepresented games hoping to get some views from a niche fanbase?

Maybe I'll try to start using the Twitter account for more personality/funny thoughts? Or something along those lines? I guess right now we just use it to announce new videos cause well, it's hard to tweet something with personality when you know no one is going to see it.

We just recently did a massive overhaul and rebranding around September last year, I don't know if I have the energy to do it all over again. And I'm by no means a great artist. I can do pixel art but not much beyond that. I don't even know what kind of a direction a new branding would take. Again it comes back to being clickbaity.

This is good advice though. I think I'll change the twitter profile picture to at least my sprite face.

I also really want to avoid clickbaity crap as much as possible, because I just hate it myself when I see it from others. I want to set a better example than that, but unfortunately the current climate really favors the clickbaity bull****.

We've been running our Youtube channel for about a year and a half now, and I'm stumped.

If anyone has any tips or advice on how to properly advertise one's own Youtube channel, I'm all ears. Cause this is by far the most frustrating/difficult aspect of running a Youtube channel. I have no sweet clue how to get any visibility to the target demographic (Gamers, Let's players, etc.)

Every gaming site prevents you from promoting. No one in the same space doing better than you gives a flying **** about what you're doing or trying to help, unless you're already getting the views and they see some benefit for their own channel.

If my content was bad, I'd accept that and try to improve. But I think it's good, and no one is telling me otherwise. Because I get 0 feedback from anyone not involved in production. We run both a Facebook and Twitter page with daily updates, but again the problem is visibility.

I get people saying "If it's good, people will watch it." But I'm not really buying that. How would anyone see it/find it even if it's the greatest video ever? How would anyone know if it's good or bad if they never see it in the first place?

The recent changes to Youtube really killed a lot of my motivation as well. It used to be that once you hit 10,000 views, you could monetize. And we JUST hit that milestone now. They changed it now so you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of yearly watch hours. I don't care about the money, but more so the fact that Youtube pushes monetized channels in the Next Up or Suggested. But anything less than that you're on your own to be discovered.

Any help would be appreciated. Or even let me know where I should voice these concerns.

I love how people come in here being like 'personal relationship', form your own thing, organized religion sucks just talk to jesus and stuff. So silly. Christianity is literally based on a book that says if you don't believe every single word it's just as good as if you didn't believe any of it. It's just deluded to think otherwise and try to stay Christian even tho you literally oppose almost everything it stands for.

To be fair, most people pick and choose what they believe about Christianity (or Islam or any of the other religions) anyway. Most of them don't even read the bible. (Reading the bible coincidentally is what turned me atheist)

I could see someone saying "The bible is corrupted, but Jesus was still the son of god" though it sounds like TC is more of a Deist.

How can anyone justify only believing "some" of a religion? That entire notion just boggles my mind trying to justify it from any point of view.
