Jim Lee said he's redesigning Darkseid's outfit. Now, I'm ok with that, since it always looked like he had a skirt, but this is Jim Lee and this isn't the 90s anymore, although someone never told him that. So....cautious. Very cautious.

It will launch for $350 with some Wii Sports s***. I bet my life on it. Damn, that KoolAid guy is awesome - NGamer64
Its Jim Lee so there's gonna be a whole f***ton of lines. You think Scott Williams will sit him down one of these days and say, "Jim, we've been working together for what, 20+ years? I'M THE F***ING INKER! Stop drawing all these lines everywhere for no reason! This is not 1991 anymore, its not cool to look amateurish"
Overall I'm a big fan of MOST of the redesigns. The only lamers standing out are Zatanna, Mister Terrific, Harley Quinn, and Black Canary. Maybe Poison Ivy. Who knows what's going on in Teen Titans with the constantly changing costumes.
....I don't know about King Shark...
Speaking of Suicide Squad, looks like we were, unsurprisingly, right. Reports coming in from early readers that it contains absolutely no humor whatsoever.

That concept is shocking, especially with that cast of characters. Hah I will check out the first issue, I've got no choice but to investigate. Plus I kinda love Harley's redesign personally.
Speaking of Secret Avengers, how come Steve isn't in his Captain America garb on the cover there? Does it take place before the new Cap book?

All things considered this was a pretty slow week! If not for the relaunch, it would have been one of the least exciting Wednesdays from a volume standpoint, even with some top tier books.
Uncanny X-Force 14 is greatness. I want to make love to Opena's artwork. Just him coming back seems to have given the story a new purpose. The action scenes are wonderful, the character interactions feel palpable and real, and everything just feels...right. Dean White's colors deserve credit to, I LOOOOVE the icy blue of Archangel's hidden base, I LOOOVE the surreal pink hue of the EVA scenes, I love everything about it.
I had somehow got it into my head that Barbara was cured three years ago instead of TKJ happening three years ago. Which is almost as dumb but whatever. I'm just going to stop worrying about this and read INVINCIBLE, AWWW YEAH

And Invincible was a weaker issue but it still got some stuff out of the way! I feel like there was a Gaudrians of the Globe tie-in there somewhere I'm unaware of.
Which is funny, because I just read the new issue of Uncanny X-Force and was about to say that I miss Mark Brooks, but Opena is awesome too, so it's all good. Fantastic issue.

I'm not sure how wise it is the introduce some internal confilct from a character's childhood and quickly resolve it in the 11th issue of a 12 issue story. Might be the first misstep in Deadpool Max.

Back on reading The Authority and Millar's second story arc about the natural disasters was MUCH better than his first. Must be the relative lack of dumb jokes and cultural references.
Also I just LOVE IT when series switch teams to introduce one storyline, switch back to the old team to introduce another one that doesn't even seem to take place concurrently, and then go back to the other team to finish the other storyline out.
bluh
EDIT: Oh wait #21 was an interlude that was supposed to take place between Ellis's and Millar's stories, or something? Okay...

I can't overstate how good Uncanny X-Force is right now. Remender/Opena is just so damn good. I really wish there was someway he can do all the issues, but he's doing the next four, so I'll be alright.
I like that he's taken Wolverine off the board for awhile. I think it makes their situation that much more desperate, and the stakes even higher. I like that Remender's Deadpool is not only funny("Like diarrhea made of sadness and anger"), but has an actual brain and can think logically and save his teammates. Archangel isn't a raving lunatic, but has some actual nuance and respectability to his otherwise genocidal motivations; he honestly believes this is the best course of action for Mutantkind. Psylocke has never been written better.
Remender said he has an outline up to issue #34! I kinda hope he just keeps on writing X-Force forever >_>

I was responding to the Guardians mini. Yes, there was one and it's been way behind schedule. Even more so than Invincible. The final issue hasn't even come out yet.
But yeah, a good setup/resolution issue for Invincible. It's a book that does these things incredibly well while also balancing tons of plots. You get what you pay for with an issue of this book. And I think Ottley is one of the most under appreciated artists in the business.
From: TheKoolAidShoto | #177 Psylocke has never been written better.
Oh yeah I was gonna mention that too, I actually liked Psylocke for once. Well, I never disliked her, she's always been pretty to look at at least, and she's a ninja, but I've never really seen her... do anything. Until now, she was just really cool in this issue.

Hmm, interesting. Now I have to find her in the JL issue too. And I'll have to keep looking out for her in all the other #1s. If she's always that well hidden then man, it's gonna be tough for me.

From: KimPilgrim | #179 And do note that a weak Invincible issue is like...8/10.
No, Kirkman is more than capable of writing bad or average comics, and Invincible has been going through the motions for the last 18 months. Well, maybe it's gotten better, I dropped it after the Viltrumite War. I think what would be best for Kirkman, creatively, is to put Invincible and Walking Dead on hiatus for a half year or longer. He's been writing those books for ages and considering his recent output, might be spent.
Eh, I don't think Invincible has really fallen that, though 8/10 may be an exaggeration. It's still fine, though it's fallen since the VW, and even that wasn't as good as the high points before it.
Walking Dead though, yeah, it hasn't been interesting in over a year. It's gotten to the point where reading an issue of it is almost tiring. And even before that it's been slowly declining ever since they left the prison.
Unfortunately this is my first time hearing about Tatsumi.
Shang Chi tie-in was pretty damn fun, love all the Brubaker/Fraction style move names, and the artwork is just wonderful. Much like Cloak and Dagger, I wouldn't mind this being an ongoing series, we really do need some more kung fu Marvel comics.

I somehow didn't notice that the Wolfman/Perez New Teen TItans Omnibus came out today. I. Need. It.
I forgot to mention that I bought the JLI 90's Retroactive today also (Best book of the month, BTW), and when I realized it was printed on the old style comic paper, I decided to get another copy, figure out where it fits in timewise, and get it infused into one of my JLI trades. Anyone know a website that does that kind of thing? I've heard of it being done before.
