What is League of Legends? League of Legends is a team game very similar to the WarCraft 3 custom map DotA. There are two bases, one on either side of the map and several "lanes" between the bases along which AI controlled units spawn. An overhead view of the 5v5 map looks about like this:
There is a base in the bottom left, and a base in the top right. 3 lanes connect the two bases and every 30 seconds AI controlled "minions" spawn in each lane. Everyone who is in the game controls 1 "champion" unit and your job as a team is to push your lanes and destroy the opposing base. The lanes are protected by turrets and so you need your own minions along side you to be able to kill the turrets without getting targeted by them. 2 bases, 3 lanes, 5 players per team. There is also The Crystal Scar, the map currently used for the Dominion game mode. The Dominion overhead view looks like this:
What are Champions? Champions are the powerful units that you get to control. You pick 1 before the map loads and that is the champion you will use for that match. Champions start each match at level 1 their max level is 18. The important thing to consider is the stats of the champion you select will be affected by the level of your account.
What do 'account-levels' have to do with anything? When you create an account you have a level 1 account. That is called your 'Summoner Level'. You are the summoner, and the champion you select for the match is the 'summoned'. You increase your summoner level by playing matches. Every match you play will earn you XP and IP. Earning enough XP will increase your summoner level with the max level being 30. Wins are worth more XP/IP than losses, so try to win. Your summoner level also determines: (1) How many runes you can slot and (2) How many mastery points you can allot
If you are low leveled still and playing by yourself then the game will try and pair you against similarly leveled opponents, but if you are playing with higher leveled friends then it will seek higher leveled opponents. Just something to consider when you start learning how to play.
What is IP again? IP is the other kind of points you earn when you play matches. You earn both XP and IP and IP are the points that you use to purchase runes and champions. Yes, that’s right, you have to "buy" the champions, but you get the points for free so its not a bad deal. (You can also spend real money on champion packs if you would rather not take the time to earn them) The point is that you get the IP for free so you should figure out which champions you are good with and spend it on those. When you buy a champion you will have it unlocked on your account forever. And if you don't buy ANY champions, you will still have access to 10 of them. Every week there are 10 "free" champions. But they are only free for the week and 10 different champions will be free the next week. And so if you are level 1 you still have 10 champions available to you and so try them out, figure out which one you might like to spend points on and then buy it.
And so IP is good for Champions and Runes. You can also spend *real money* to unlock champions but you can NOT unlock runes with real money, only IP and so runes have to be earned.
To sum up: You have an account that goes up to level 30 (this is your summoner level) You earn XP (to level up the account) and IP (to buy champions/runes) every time you play a match You have rune pages (with up to 30 slots) You have a mastery page to spec (with up to 30 points) (and you can respec as much as you want)
This is probably a bit over-kill and so if something doesn’t quite make sense just ask and someone will clarify. And if you are going to start playing please post: (1) Your GameFAQs name (2) Your Summoner name (this is different than your log-in name) (3) Your preferred champions. It’s just nice to know which champions people prefer to play or use the most.

First game as post-buff Morde, 11-2-7. Granted, we were up against jabronis who sent a teleport/flash malzahar up top, but daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn son, I feel happy now. The king is back, baybee!
Second game, got mid as I wanted (so I didn't have to deal with garen, who eats Morde up), and chewed up the enmy team. 6-0 in a game with 18 kills, hells yeah! Malzahars are so free to Morde lol.
Three in a row now! We had no jungler and two supports. Since I didn't want to face Fizz (little ****bag screws over Morde hard early on, even nerfed), we sent Sivir mid and Annie top with Kayle, while I went bot with Soraka. This reminded me that Morde STILL can't 2v2, because that's just too much harass even with a nice support. They pretty much gobbled me up early, I was 0-6 at one point. However, top and mid trampled their lanes (in spite of annie getting 0 CS and pretty much being forced into a beefcaster role), and I turned things around with the help of our super fed Sivir. 9-7-15, not bad for a comeback game!

I do find a complete lack of compensation odd, though. Maybe they just feel he's strong enough to take it. I can't disagree.
It actually mattered a ton, mostly because it meant an extra 9% multiplier against physical attacks to his EHP, which is quite a bit. That said, he'll be fine, he's a monster in the new jungle.
Joyrock is a modern day version of Socrates: Provocative, ugly and much improved after ingesting hemlock.

That's the problem. In high level play, Fizz isn't that bad because people know his early game was quite bad (even worse now) and could easily take advantage of that. In noob elo games Fizz could faceroll easily. But things like Sion/Morgana/Shaco/Rammus are stupidly OP at any level of play.

Oh come on, your sodium levels are too high from the Fizz nerfs.
The hit to Frenzy's damage output was enough to call it significant, but considering that it was pretty much a goddamn nuke scaling off of defensive items, I don't think it had any right to be as powerful as it was. And it still does *tons of damage.*
He's worse by virtue of him getting nerfed, but not significantly enough I'd call him worthless. It was only one skill.

No, it's a problem. It basically amounts to Riot holding your hand and sheltering you, thus preventing you from ever getting better because they just answer your QQ constantly.
There has never been an instance where they should have balanced around low Elo, but there have been several times where they have done so.
You're not going to convince Riot by calling it a problem though, you have to convince them that it's actively detrimental and demonstrate a superior alternative.
imo they pretty much have to remake the game from the ground up before anyone hyper competitive is satisfied simply because everything from the item selection to the core mechanics has been taking out or actively limiting player involvement.

Everyone? Really? Do you watch top level streams at all. Do you see how Volibear is almost never played and all the top players who played Volibear realized he can be kited really hard? It doesn't matter if you can chunk someone's health drastically if by the time you get to said person you are 3/4ths dead.
If that was so much of an issue why didn't they nerf Frenzy and improve his other skills?
He suffers the same problem as Skarner at not having a real gap closer except Skarner actually has an few good abilities that make up for that. What does Voli have? A toss that does almost no damage. A AOE Slow that does almost no damage. And an ult that is awful unless you are in a huge teamfight and even then it's still lackluster.

Oh, come on. Whining about VOLIBEAR? Really? The dude has one of, if not THE most BS ultimate in the game, and this includes prenerf ults except for TF's. Even Rumble's Equalizer wasn't as powerful in its prime as maxed out claws. Don't build for Frenzy. Build around getting your ult off and then using it a lot. Frenzy is your ticket to managing the laning phase, nothing else.
