Lydia has too much spirit for you I guess! I don't see how people could dislike her.

As for Jenna, she kinda felt like the narrator of Borneo to me, while she was in. Not really sure how else to explain it, I just felt compelled to root for her.

Sorry, not much to say about these guys/gals. Short on time and we're getting to the boring part anyway.

330. Janet Koth (The Amazon, 15th place)

external image

Janet was pretty much screwed from the word "go" being the oldest on an all-female tribe, and she immediately got sick, even worsening her position. Her fate was then sealed in episode 2 when a granola bar was discovered at the women's camp and Jeanne said that she had seen it in Janet's bag. Janet was pretty vehement about not having brought the granola bar but I really do think it was her. Unfortunately that's one of those things we'll probably never know, along with Christy's voting intentions at FTC and Kel's beef jerky.

329. Penny Ramsey (Thailand, 7th place)

external image

Penny had one of the weirdest edits in Survivor history. She was pretty much completely invisible up until the fake merge, and then once that hit she just seemed like an unnecessarily negative force around camp. And I really didn't even get what people were saying when they thought she was "sneaky." I mean yeah, she was a little b****y, but she didn't seem that conniving. Still, she was boring an unentertaining.

328. Kelly Sharbaugh (Samoa, 11th place)

external image

Another thoroughly invisible and boring young girl, Kelly did have her moments that stuck out, but they weren't good ones. She definitely seemed really cliquey and b****y (even though she was the least cliquey and b****y of the three cliquey and b****y chicks on Galu, hence why she ranks higher than them), and considering she was voted out in probably the most exciting and unpredictable tribal councils of the entire season, you'd think she would have gotten more screen time than she ultimately did. That being said, I thought her hair was pretty cool.

327. Carolina Eastwood (Tocantins, 16th place)

external image

One more Crap Tier first boot, Carolina was pretty much the driving force behind the anti-Sandy campaign on Jalapao. And ultimately it was her b****iness that led her to being completely embarrassed by being voted out over the weak old crazy lady. That being said, I do think that she had a bit of a strategic mind and wouldn't have let things go down so smoothly for J.T. had she lasted a little longer in the game. Oh, and this insignificant first boot was brought up four seasons later at the reunion when David Murphy proposed to her live on national television, and you know she wanted to say no.

326. Rupert Boneham (All-Stars, 4th place)

external image

All-Stars is, without a doubt, entertainment-wise Rupert's weakest performance (which is ironic since it is his highest finish in any of his seasons). America had just fallen in love with the enthusiastic, boisterous hippie pirate three months ago and then got to see him again on All-Stars, and I'll be honest, I wasn't impressed. He started out strong, making a good honest alliance with Rudy and refusing to break it when the others wanted Rudy out, but then he quickly became bad as he thought building an underground shelter would be a good idea, then latched onto Boston Rob for the rest of the game, and pretty much spent every episode worshiping Rob, b****ing about Jenna, or shouting "ROAR!" And then because he didn't win once again, the producers decided to give an extra million dollars to the most popular person of the season, which, surprise surprise, Rupert got nearly 75% of the vote. That kinda pissed me off.

Hints will be posted after I do some changing-of-the-tiers business. :)

TIER 4: The Meh Tier

This bulk of the list takes care of two types of players - the first type is the ones that I honestly don't give two s***s about either way. They could be digitally removed from the season and wouldn't have too much of an impact on my liking of it. The second is the people that I'm really mixed on. Parts about them I really love, and parts about them I really hate and can't justify putting them in the Good Stuff tier. And trust me, quite a few of these are Board favorites, so this won't be a completely boring tier!

325. Most people I've talked to seem to agree that this is the least-significant person of their season, both gameplay and entertainment-wise
324. An African American male
323. Survived at least one Redemption Island duel
322. Was eliminated on their first Redemption Island duel
321. Was on a season that featured Redemption Island but never went to Redemption Island except as a spectator

Other than that she was just the generic annoying girl who totally didn't deserve to be called back for All-Stars

Nah. As much as I prefer most of Pagong's members to Jenna, I still believe Jenna was practically the face and mouth of Pagong. She was still extremely entertaining, and very much worth watching.

Probably the latter, but he rarely had anything interesting to say, and I would have much rather had him put by the wayside to give more screen time to some of the more interesting people of the season who got shafted.

How does that land Mick in this low tier? He was a pretty ok guy. Nothing special. And although I didn't get to finish my Samoa re-watch, he seemed to be playing a pretty reasonable strategic/social game in the beginning.

how the hell did Susie almost win Gabon? Seriously, if Randy had been in a little bit of a better mood that night, Susie would have taken home the million and been another winner for this tier. But as it is she was just a trainwreck.

Well keep in mind that people get edited differently depending on their finish. If Susie was the winner, I'm sure she would have been portrayed entirely different, and may have been shown to have played a great game, and appear very likable to the viewers. But of course, as it stands now, she was worthless, and her almost winning was sad. Susie and Chase almost winning were the two scariest moments during a finale.

Her fate was then sealed in episode 2 when a granola bar was discovered at the women's camp and Jeanne said that she had seen it in Janet's bag.

I always thought that was funny, how in just 6 seasons of Survivor, there were 2 seasons, where the person voted out in the second episode was accused of smuggling food, yet there was never proof. Just such an odd thing to occur so soon after it happened the first time.

That's a pretty accurate summary of Penny's Survivor existence. Although, whatever the f*** they were doing with her character worked, because I really hated watching her too. I remember by the time Thailand finished its initial run, saying how Penny was one of the worst contestants ever. I don't really feel that strongly anymore, but she still sucked, and was for sure one of the worst of the season (probably just behind Ghandia and Jed).

That moment when all the Galu's are bracing for impact at the reveal of who is going home was pretty intense. That was the only moment of the entire season where I felt anything for Kelly. I mean, I didn't like her, and I was glad she got voted out. But the way they portrayed that scene made me feel a little bad for her. But she certainly does deserve a low ranking, for the reasons you state. And yeah, her hair was a better character than she was.

Oh, and this insignificant first boot was brought up four seasons later at the reunion when David Murphy proposed to her live on national television, and you know she wanted to say no.

And this was so much better than anything she did in Tocantins. Has there ever been a more awkward Survivor moment than that? It hurt just to watch.

All-Stars is, without a doubt, entertainment-wise Rupert's weakest performance

I was never able to even look at Rupert objectively that season, just because of how much I liked him in Pearl Islands. But he definitely wasn't very good, although I could still never justify ranking him this low. I definitely believe all the Survivors who played with Rupert who say he wasn't really that entertaining or enjoyable as America thinks, because if what they showed of him in All-Stars is all they had to work with for the most well-liked Survivor of all time, prior to All-Stars, then....well...I guess he doesn't really do much! Rupert really got lucky that Pearl Islands was a pirate theme, because he just ran with that all season, and he played it amazingly. The show Pirate Master even tried to emulate a contestant that was like Rupert, but he didn't even compare.

GUESSES:

325. Mary?
324. Nick Brown
323. Matt
322. Julie. Maybe Jim?

325. Ramona Gray (Borneo, 13th place)

external image

I can't think of a better way to start off a tier that contains a lot of unmemorable early boots than with, for me, the least-memorable Survivor contestant of all time. Seriously, it's been a while since I've seen Borneo, but I have seen it quite a few times and I can't remember a single thing that Ramona did other than being sick for a couple days. Honestly she's one of maybe three Survivors that I cannot immediately bring up a mental image of upon seeing her name. I even had to look up the spelling of her four-letter last name. I guess the one interesting thing I have to say in Ramona's writeup is that my top 10 and bottom 6 for Borneo were so cut-and-dry that it is about to experience far and away the largest gap that any season will experience on this list. Seriously, Xu and Slaps (and anyone else who makes guesses), don't even bother guessing Borneo people for a very, very long time.

324. Ibrehem Rahman (Palau, 11th place)

external image

Ibrehem is another person that I don't really remember much about, but I definitely remember more about him than I do Ramona. First, I remember that his performance both in challenges and at camp varied from day to day. Like, one day he'd be really valuable, and the next day he would be useless. Second, I remember that he was on the chopping block for at least two votes before his boot, spared first by Koror giving him immunity (or by Allah according to James), then by James being a nutcase. Third, he is notable in Survivor history for being the only Muslim ever to be on the show.

323. Christine Shields-Markoski (South Pacific, 13th place)

external image

And here we come to somebody that is in this tier because I am very mixed on them. I would like to start out by pointing out her positives - she has a ton of spirit and is very funny, and is also extremely smart and could have done very well in another season. That being said, she really annoyed me on the show. On day 1 she put a target on her own back by calling somebody that was going to be on her tribe and clearly have a dominant position a "temporary player." This immediately made Coach hate her and have the need to get her out, because she would obviously be gunning for him. And then she didn't even try to fit in with the majority alliance at camp, and instead outcast herself even more. And when she was voted out, she tried to make herself look like the victim. The past four seasons have seen some of the best older women casting in Survivor history, but Christine is definitely not among them.

Two people who placed back-to-back in the game in the same season appear back to back on this list. And for the same reason in that I'm extremely mixed on both of them. Going into the season, I was already mixed on Jim. Anyone who goes into Survivor listing owner of a medical marijuana dispensary as their occupation is going to be either one of two things - a chill, carefree bro, or a delusional douchebag. And Jim just looks like the latter, and did very little on the show to disprove that. From his whole winners and losers speech after the first immunity challenge to relentlessly bullying Cochran after flipping his vote (and don't get me wrong - Jim is the one person that I actually accept being mad at Cochran for flipping because he was the only other Savaii who would not have been safe had they gone to rocks, but his reaction was just way over the top), Jim was just a jerk. But I do respect that he made some pretty decent strategic moves in the game and for that he gets higher than six people in his season but can't make the top 300 overall.

321. Natalie Tenerelli (Redemption Island, 3rd place)

external image

Natalie was pretty useless for most of the season, just latching onto Rob and never looking back. Her 7-episode streak without a confessional is the longest in Survivor history, which is bizarre for a person that made the finals. And she was pretty much second to Ashley in voicing her annoyance of Phillip. But I do have to give her props for being extremely mature and well-spoken for her age, something which Phillip himself confirms was genuine and not just manipulated editing.

320. Had a fight with someone who was not a contestant
319. Was voted out pre-merge but was on the jury
318. The last boot before the merge in their season
317. The first appearance on this list of a multi-time player
316. Last two letters of their first name are the same

Crap. Ramona, Ibrehem, and Christine were all my 2nd choices that I almost made for each guess!

AdmiralZephyr posted...
I can't think of a better way to start off a tier that contains a lot of unmemorable early boots than with, for me, the least-memorable Survivor contestant of all time.

Yeah, she was bland. She also had some sort of friendship thing with Jenna going on. But who cares. Ramona was really the only person from Borneo's fantastic cast that I think should have been left out.

Ibrehem is another person that I don't really remember much about, but I definitely remember more about him than I do Ramona. First, I remember that his performance both in challenges and at camp varied from day to day. Like, one day he'd be really valuable, and the next day he would be useless.

I'm not sure how he actually got cast. Like I don't feel like he was wronged by his edit and mislabeled as being boring. He really seems like he probably is IRL too. He seems like an OK guy who could add a little convo, but not really someone you'd want to hang out with, without other friends coming along. Although he did have that loud outburst during the immunity challenge where you have to push people off. That's really the only time I remember him not practically whispering.

And then she didn't even try to fit in with the majority alliance at camp, and instead outcast herself even more. And when she was voted out, she tried to make herself look like the victim.

Ugh. This sounds almost like a Sierra write-up. Christine sucked too though.

Jim was just a jerk. But I do respect that he made some pretty decent strategic moves in the game and for that he gets higher than six people in his season but can't make the top 300 overall.

Jim was too interesting pre-merge for me to dislike him. He really contributed to that tribe being as interesting as they were, and stopping it from being the Ozzy show.

321. Natalie Tenerelli (Redemption Island, 3rd place)

external image

No need to even write anything else about her.

But I did kind of like her during the finale only. I mean, her FTC performance was a trainwreck, but she finally seemed to possess some human traits that episode, instead of just being Ashley's Phillip bashing sidekick.

Been away for a while.

I'm sort of surprised that Scout got booted so early. She seemed a lot more down to earth than a lot of the other people on that season.

And about Jeff Wilson: can't argue that, for what time he was on the show, he wasn't that great. But I think that if he hadn't been injured, Ulong could have won some immunity challenges. The sumo challenge, for example. One of those things we'll just never know, I guess.

320. Tijuana Bradley (Pearl Islands, 7th place)

external image

Honestly, Tijuana is probably for me the least-memorable person from Pearl Islands, and considering it's my favorite season that's saying a lot. I can honestly remember two things that she did the entire time, and they were from the first and last episodes. In the first episode she got into a b****fight with a Panamanian local over money, which was kind of amusing, but forgettable. Then she got into a fight with Nicole which was really wasn't so much a fight as it was Nicole tried to backstab Tijuana so Tijuana got Nicole voted out. Then in the last episode as a juror she gave a pity vote to Lill, costing Sandra the first perfect game in Survivor history. Other than that I don't remember a single thing she did.

319. Burton Roberts (Pearl Islands, 5th place)

external image

I know some of you are surprised that there are a lot of Pearl islanders showing up already considering how much I love the season, but the few that were good were really good and totally redeemed all the s****y and boring people that the season contained. Anyway Burton has the distinction of being the first person ever voted out more than once in the same season, having returned in the Outcast twist, which was a little weird, because for the first few episodes, even in his original boot episode, he didn't really do much. Yeah, he was kind of a dick, but he took a backseat in that to Shawn, and Jon was camerahogging with his own jerky antics. Everybody else in Survivor history who has returned to the game after being voted out has been billed as a huge character prior to their initial boot. Then Burton returned and he turned into a jerk with a heart of gold, having a few P episodes, and then kinda became a bit of a gamebot for a bit. Then game the big fight with Lill that got him his second boot. So for someone who got as much screen time as he did, he as a person was actually pretty boring. But his big moves helped keep the flow of the season going, and I think it would have been a totally lesser season had the Outcast twist not happened and Shawn and Osten made the merge.

318. Shawna Mitchell (The Amazon, 11th place)

external image

Shawna is adorable, has a bubbly personality, and just seems like she'd be really cool to hang out with in real life. That's what she has going for her. Going against her she has the fact that she kinda threw these all down the toilet about two episodes in by suddenly wanting to quit, and, since her season predated Pearl Islands, didn't know that you actually could, so she asked her tribe to vote her out instead. They didn't because they needed her vote, and she became miserable and kinda exuded a negative aura around camp. Then the swap happens and a few hot young guys show up and magically she's all better. Given her showmance was with Alex, who was just awful, so that takes points away too. But I think she really got screwed by the fact that her body just couldn't hack it in the wild. Out of the three young, hot, cliquey girls of the season, she seemed like she was genuinely the nicest of them and I could see her being really fun on a show where she gets the nourishment she's used to, but she just couldn't hack it in the elements and it brought out the worst in her.

317. Benjamin "Coach" Wade (South Pacific, 2nd place)

external image

South Pacific is Coach's worst incarnation by far, and those who disagree are just wrong, end of story. He works so much better when he's inadvertently being a completely over-the-top goofy character than when he's trying so hard to be a strategic mastermind. He started off pretty good, being obviously disliked by his tribe simply because of his reputation, but, unlike Russell, actually working hard to try to change their minds, and ended up becoming the leader of the tribe. Unfortunately, as he did in his previous two season, he found a young, fragile girl and decided that she was going to be his punching bag for the season and make her life miserable until the tribe finally voted her out. Oh, and the whole religion crap totally ruined the season as well. I consider myself a somewhat religious person and I do pray, but I don't make a big f***ing deal about it like he did, and practically force everyone else to join in. Even with these shortcomings, Coach was still in my top 7 or so for the season simply due to how awful the cast was, until the day after the finale. He totally went on a Sophie-bashing streak, sitting around telling everyone how she didn't deserve to win and he played the best game and only lost because Ozzy was bitter. I seem to remember him being a part of the whole "no bitter juries" thing when he voted against Russell, so he's being very hypocritical in this sense, and that really hurts my opinion of him and how he played the game this time.

316. Gregg Carey (Palau, 6th place)

external image

What's there to say about Gregg... He has an interestingly-spelled name. He was in a boring showmance. He got perhaps the least screen time of any alpha male ever to be on the show (and considering he was on the dominant tribe that's even worse). Gregg is the very definition of a casting dud. The guy actually looks like he could be fairly entertaining, but he had such a bland personality in a season that had a lot of over-the-top characters that they just had nowhere to put him. I think I said earlier that the whole season would have been done a favor if Jonathan and Kim had been dropped out of the cast and they started with 18 without the two eliminated right off the bat twist, but Gregg is probably pretty interchangeable with Jonathan in that hypothetical situation.

313. A forgettable young, female early boot

^Do you mean Redemption Island?

As a big fan of Russell's, I'd say RI is definitely his weakest outing. He really just wasn't around long enough to make a large impact. However, when he lost the duel to Matt and cried a bit, I think we all saw a more human side of him and got to fully understand just how much Survivor means to him. I'm thinking that darkx probably appreciates that, and as someone who doesn't like Russell too much, that that makes his RI incarnation the top one on the list (because his more human side is displayed).

Yeah, he was kind of a dick, but he took a backseat in that to Shawn

Finally Burton shows up. Horrible contestant. And Shawn was too much of a bumbling idiot to be really be considered worse to me. Burton was smug.

Everybody else in Survivor history who has returned to the game after being voted out has been billed as a huge character prior to their initial boot.

Wasn't Matt pretty ignored in the first episode? So much that everyone was making fun of how obvious it was that Fran was going to beat him on RI.

But his big moves helped keep the flow of the season going, and I think it would have been a totally lesser season had the Outcast twist not happened and Shawn and Osten made the merge.

No doubt. As much as I dislike him, he really contributed to why PI is the best season. Sometimes it takes a really unlikable villain to make a really good season (Vanuatu is the best example for this).

Shawna is adorable

I never liked her promo pictures, but she really looked good on the island with no makeup.

And she was kind of annoying, but definitely the best of those 3 girls.

315. Brad Virata (Cook Islands, 12th place)

external image

We're getting to the point where the forgettable Cook Islanders are going to start falling, and that ball starts rolling with Brad. Brad was kinda just there for most of the season. He had a couple of funny moments early on involving Cao Boi's antics, but after the first absorption he kinda just faded away. Eventually he showed back up and kinda screwed himself over. He was his tribe's strongest swimmer by a fairly large margin and insisted on doing the puzzle portion of a half-swimming, half-puzzle challenge. Of course his tribe lost because they had to send out their weaker swimmers up against Ozzy, possibly the strongest swimmer ever to play the game. Then just when the mutiny happened and it looked like he was in a very safe position because Jonathan and Candice were easy targets for the next two votes, he began giving his tribe reasons not to trust him, and it culminated with him announcing that he didn't trust his tribe just before the vote at tribal council. Not surprisingly, he was voted out, but the big surprise for both the players and viewers is that he became the first person to place below 9th and still be included on the jury, something that would become fairly standard in most futures seasons.

314. Brenda Lowe (Nicaragua, 10th place)

external image

I know some of you are gonna be kicking and screaming that I placed Brenda too low, but to be honest, this is actually a lot higher than I would have placed her a year ago, and she still has nowhere to go but up. Brenda annoyed me quite a bit throughout Nicaragua. A lot of her confessionals were very much like the one where she imitated a baby and said that it was Chase, her biggest ally, and I hated that dinging sound that they edited in when she showed her teeth. Additionally, I didn't find her all that attractive. Yeah, she was cute, but she was barely the fifth hottest person of her season, and yet everyone was all "ZOMG hottest Survivor evar!" And of course there's the whole guilty by association thing, where the fact that she was aligned with so many people that I hated increased my dislike for her. That being said, over the years I have gained a ton of respect for her gameplay. Very few women have alpha'd over an alliance like she did, and even though Kim was more successful at it, Brenda did it first. Give it some more time and a couple more rewatches and I could easily see Brenda shooting up as much as 100 spots or so. And with Brenda out, Holly is the last person remaining from one of the worst alliances in Survivor history.

313. Brianna Varela (Guatemala, 16th place)

external image

Guatemala is a season that I remember for its huge personalities. I can't deny that, whether I like or dislike them, 17 of the 18 people were filled to the brim with personality. Brianna was the one dud. The first two episodes she had one confessional in each episode basically saying how happy she was to be there, and the third episode was pretty much her talking about how much she disliked Lydia and not knowing what a pick was. Okay, so she wasn't good at sports. I didn't know what a pick was back then either. But at least try. I think she was literally picking her nails during that challenge. So I didn't feel bad when she was voted off. I do love that she outlasted Russell in the all-inclusive Save My Survivor though.

312. Joe Dowdle (Tocantins, 10th place)

external image

Joe has the distinction of being the one person post-Cook Islands who has made the merge and not the jury (personally that's my favorite format but the producers these days are like LOL screw the fans!), and it couldn't be more fitting. He is easily the most forgettable medivac the show has ever had, to the point where I don't think anybody cared that he actually did get medivac'd. It was obvious that it was going to happen because his leg was doing bad for a couple episodes leading up to it, and all it in terms of gameplay was keep Brendan alive for one more round to make the jury. Everything else would have turned out exactly the same. And I don't care to talk about Joe anymore because he doesn't really matter.

311. Jay Byars (One World, 10th place)

external image

Pre-season Jay was my least-favorite. He just seemed like a boring tool. But as the season got started he really started to grow on me. He seemed like he had a strategic head on his shoulders and wasn't just blindly following one alliance, and he was one of the two guys post-merge who was seriously willing to work with the women. Unfortunately, I have to put him this low because he just pissed me off so badly in his boot episode. He stepped down from immunity for beer and chicken wings when he knew that it was probably a guy going home that night, and when Troy, his closest ally, came to him with a plan to take out the biggest strategic threat in the game, he decided to put his trust in Kim, who he had seen backstab others already, and sold out his buddy, not only wasting Troy's hidden immunity idol, but getting himself voted out in one fell swoop. And he had nobody but himself to blame, but he still seemed really bitter about it.
