I doubt Miyamoto actually had much to do with the game. I love the man, but it's annoying when people give him credit for everything. The same used to happen with Koji Kondo to the point I once thought he composed for every Nintendo game, but I seem to see that less now.

Luigi wasn't in SM64 and I think not in Sunshine either. Guess they were just trying to follow suit since Odyssey was a return to that style. TBH I don't really care that much since I had very little urge to actually play as Luigi in the Galaxy games. He's not needed for single-player.

Work is next level boring so I'm reading a lot of GOTY top ten lists and getting mad about how many I haven't played yet. Night in the Woods, Nier, Persona 5, etc etc etc too many good games

I've been wanting Nier since the moment it was announced but I'm waiting on a good deal for it. The first game had a lot of issues, but it was one of those games that makes you feel something when it's all done. Plus it's some of the best music I've heard in a video game. People say Nier: Automata is even better, so it's at the top of my list of games I want to play.

My brother bought it months ago and I haven't ever gotten around to playing it. Same with Persona. There have just been so many great games this year that I barely had time to breathe, and whenever there was a lull in between releases I was looking forward to I kind of just preferred to take a few weeks off gaming. I'd like to get Resident Evil 7 at some point, along with Shadow of War and others. It's hard to prioritize though.

It's awesome. So bold, so surprising, and so specific to the creator's voice. I haven't played Nier 1 but I can't imagine the music is better in that one.

Do you guys think Nintendo will ever release some kind of upgraded Switch? Since the N64, they've only ever done that with their handhelds (not counting the second-gen Wii since it was a downgrade) so I'm not as optimistic as some people. But I also see more potential in the Switch, and it's sort of a handheld, so maybe they'll do it.

Of course I love my Switch as-is, but a battery life upgrade and some performance boosts would be awesome. If it does happen, I just wonder what they'd do with the form factor. I'd almost certainly re-buy just the tablet, but I don't want to have to get a new dock and joycons. And obviously they need to figure out data transfer shit

Rocket League is very cool but I played it for like two hours and had the same realization I've had with every competitive game I've played in like the last decade: I'm not willing to put in the time to be decent at it. But it's definitely cool and good.

Yeah I thought pretty much everyone here had a PS4 and not an Xbone. Well, that means you can play it with me, but like I said before, it's only private matches for now which kind of sucks. I think they're trying to change that

I just got it a few days ago, and only because I could get it with two controllers and 10 games for $150. I will have access to a Switch and PS4 anyways.

Lootboxes to unlock cars to use in the campaign and online, which is a fucking terrible idea.

I'll probably grab Project Cars 2 instead if I want a racing game. Either way, mostly playing Hitman now.

I don't watch much NBA, but I am watching Wolves@Bucks and it's weird that they aren't division/conference rivals. Same with Brewers/Twins. It just feels like all the stats of MN/WI should hate each other, because they're the only team with pro teams that MN borders.

Lootboxes are as inevitable as DLC as this point. If done correctly, the majority gamer base will be happy/okay with it. If not, well, Battlefront II is a prime example of the sheer backlash. Speaking of which, you'd think EA would have learned by now to stop trying to nickle and dime everyone.

haha...me and some friends have a vikings group text, and I posted my NSYNC prediction there. Someone replied with basically your same response:

Their offensive performance was a little concerning, but the play calling was incredibly conservative and it was really cold out. Keenum didn't have his best game and overthrew some open receivers a few times. That's going to be the Vikings downfall in the playoffs when they lose. (I hope I'm wrong)
It's worth mentioning that they didn't need to put up 30+ points, based on the anti-clutch of Hundley and the great defensive performance by the vikes
I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's so weird how the running game got BETTER after Dalvin Cook tore his ACL. The offensive line has been a bit shaky the past couple games, but they're at least 70% of the reason of why this team has been playing so well and improved this season.
Also, the defense was freaking elite. Say what you will about the state of the Pack and Brett Hundley, but the Vikes D was dominant. They did what they were supposed to do.

It was so unexpected and happened so fast before they cut away that it didn't really sink in immediately

I'll still root for the Vikings if they make it against the inevitable Pats though because fuck the Pats.

I don't like rooting for a division rival either, but I hope the Chiefs can match up against the Patriots since they always seem to give them trouble. I'm not sure if they're good enough in general, but the other best teams in the AFC are the Steelers (who always flop against the Pats) and the Jaguars (who are probably not gonna get it done with Bortles). I don't particularly love the Ravens but they always make for an interesting time against New England.

It sucks that the NFC is so much better now and Brady gets to avoid them for most of the playoffs. With Peyton gone it's like he has a LeBron-esque free ride to the Super Bowl

Gotta say it's a little weird that the Rockies got Wade Davis. They're going to have an elite bullpen but they still only have two good players

Is their bullpen really that good though? McGee was already on the team and they're losing Holland, so even though there were three big moves it's like Shaw was the only major addition. Is Davis much of an upgrade over Holland or is that one a wash?

Also they are expensive as hell. What about Blackmon and Arenado? These moves don't make sense unless you know those guys are walking anyway

Finished up the Champions' Ballad tonight. Honestly I thought it was pretty good, you said you expected more gameplay and story but didn't it deliver on that? Short of an entirely new overworld map area it pretty much had it. And despite this game's goofy-ass cutscenes I thought there were some things that were worthwhile (like I think it's the first time we see much of the un-ruined Hyrule Castle). Plus more Kass is fine with me.

I'm disappointed with the motorcycle not having accelerate on a shoulder button (I wanna be able to do drive-bys), but I still think it has a lot of fun potential for screwing around with.

It was pretty good overall. I whined about it before reaching the dungeon which was the clear highlight for me. It just felt extremely padded with that classic BotW gameplay extending shit like the maps you have to decode. Those can be fun on their own but 12 in a row to advance was just too much. Besides the dungeon to me it just felt like they were pasting new things into the base game and the fact that they made you purchase the season pass as your only dlc option is kind of shady so the weird qualities of these two dlc's were a little disappointing after that. I just thought they would try to expand on the base game a little more than they did but really only the bike is new. As much fun as that dungeon is (it's probably the best dungeon in the game) it looks exactly like any other dungeon in that game and uses the same map mechanic.
