I got up to 89 orbs, which was a record for me, and when I amass a bunch of orbs, I get really stupid, so of course I pulled on the new banner again. Got Micaiah, though, so I'm content.

As for waiting, I will almost assuredly not so I can get a banner unit. Also I am weak.

I assume the CYL2 banner will be on 2/8, and that will last a month. The other banner is just a movement skill banner which seems less appealing(Unless Amelia is there on a boosted chance but...).

Was a CYL2 banner announced? The characters that win the poll definitely won't be ready for an early February release.

I'm almost okay with Marisa being Ayra so

A. I can actually get her to higher + levels easier
B. So Marisa is op as hell

On the other hand I won't complain if she's free either.

L'Archel is a character I absolutely adore, so I'll probably be pulling for her.

Myrrh means I can set up a nice Dragon Emblem team with Y.Tiki, Nowi, and Ninian.

I suspect the new Eirika probably derails her attempts to knock off Camilla or Tharja in CYL2. It'll be harder to rally people to your cause when you just got a new version of your character.

Yeah, I was thinking about giving a vote to Eirika, but not anymore. Are we just going to forget about upgrading Siglinde now?

I'm really surprised they gave us Joshua and now Marisa for free. I like them both, so it's nice, but they both could have been banner chase units

It's actually kind of amazing seeing these stats conform to some stereotypes. People who started with Blazing Blade are 'elitist', people who started in the 3DS games don't go back and play the older ones, and there's a big playrate drop from Awakening->Fates among the (presumably disgruntled) people who started with the GBA era and don't like the new direction of the series.

Also I just noticed something about Myrrh.

She's counted as a flying unit. So technically she's a dual type unit.

all dragons are dual types. it just so happens the others are all dragon-infantry. and there's no hone or fortify infantry, so Myrrh is the first one that can receive two different types of +6/+6 buffs.

Yeah, but to put it in perspective, 88.51% of the people who started with Awakening went on to play Birthright. 62.99% of the people who started with Blazing Blade played Birthright as well. There's a bunch of examples like this that clearly portray the pre-3DS and post-3DS generational divide that gets mentioned a lot in modern-day Fire Emblem.

Not-so-surprising tidbit: Ike steamrolled both the Favorite Protagonist and Overall Favorite Character polls.

I'm sure Xuxon is ecstatic about L'Arachel, maybe moreso that she didn't come out as a healer? Speaking of which, it's been a looong time since they released a healer.

I'm very confused by mage Eirika. That's not even canon... right? If this means no Sieglinde upgrade, I'm kind of pissed.

or will be ecstatic if and when i actually get her (or she drops to 4*). for now i'm just kinda nervous. there are a lot of orbs out there to collect in the next two weeks, at least. i think it's at least a 50% chance for me to get her by the end.

i think the mage Eirika thing could be a nod to the enemy control glitch, which lets any character use dark magic. and Eirika is one of the characters that would benefit most, with a lack of other range options. Tethys confirmed dark mage if she ever gets in!

Merged Nino and Black Knight today and went into arena to see how I make out.

The 700 scores are nice, but man these fights so far are a bit more scary then what I'm used to. Or maybe it's because I haven't been in the arena in a while.

I was going to merge her up after I merge up my Nowi's, too. The positive is that we finally get a better red cavalry mage. I got a Leo as part of my many pity-breakers before I finally got Micaiah, and I still wonder why they haven't upgraded his weapon

technically you still have a whole day left to potentially get Micaiah. unless you've gotten all the orbs you can already and have less than 3 left.

and no Eirika isn't first, it literally just happened with Zelgius.

to elaborate on the flashing blade thing, i think there are more crucial a slot skills. they're not really worth giving up for flashing blade when you lose the spd itself from the a slot.

1b) She got Glepnir.
1c) If you liked Knoll, well he isn't getting it! If he's ever added. I guess he's fairly popular (i barely remember him beyond being him being good). Though a counter point is that he could get a powercrept Gleipnir, or just the same tome. Or something. I dunno.

2) Red sword unit freebie (which I admit kinda stinks) (if she's made a dagger unit I will riot btw)

3) hone dragons (i mean honestly it's been a long time coming anyway)

4) L'Arachel ISN'T a staff user. seriously. saw this one. Inverse Lucian-ism, but there was no way in hell they'd make her a Troubadour when she could upgrade to being a Valk/the other variant

5) more cavalier units, despite at least --ONE-- (l'arachel) unit 100% having to be on a horse because why wouldn't she. and Eirika makes sense for obvious reasons. And if sex man Ephraim wins, he'll be mounted too surely. Plus there's a shit ton of anti-cavalier shit in the game. Mounted units aint even a problem

like her design is downright offensive in this game. she sucked to begin with unlike Ross who i just snubbed in my other list (who is a less cool Dart) but at least she looked normal. heroes amelia looks like a baby on stilts wearing a suit or some shit. jesus

EDIT: 15 year old gravy in both playthroughs never leveled knoll past 11 on his base class so yeah guess he sucks. i was in the know.

There's a chance that Intelligent Systems just read straight off the list of CYL1 list when deciding which Sacred Stones characters to put on the banner.

We are essentially getting the top 4 plus a new Eirika. Myrrh didn't even make the Top 100 overall which means supporting lower ranking characters may make an actual difference. It also takes fewer votes to go up a rank compared to higher up in the rankings. If just 7 more people gave Ross 13 votes, he might have been here instead of Myrrh.
