HP is overall a better defensive stat than Def or Res - at least on a fast unit who won't get doubled as easily. It's a pretty good stat.

No unique weapon is pretty unfortunate though.

"Trainee boost" is the dumbest thing ever btw since leveling in this game is so trivial.

The Veteran penalty is also kinda silly. Although, unlike the Trainee boost, the Veteran penalty was only given to characters that were in the game from the start.

Even if they wanted to keep things consistent due to Fae, Young Tiki and Nowi getting Trainee status, they could have artificially removed the generic recent unit buff that Myrrh got.

I still wouldn't entirely rule her getting a weapon out they can always add a second download closer to the TT time !

Do like the idea of running Panic Ploy on her though at least.

I mean Chapter 4 - 2 is called The Crimson Flash or whatever, so it seems likely she's a unit there. And I doubt they'd fudge around what weapon she'd have after the fact despite her release being after the fact

All the art this time is good. Really liking Myrrh's, Lyon's, and Marisa's looks. Lyon should be a red mage, and hopefully not a disappointing one. If Marisa doesn't get a prf, that's pretty nonsensical when Josh got it.

Eirika looks like she's wearing a rug around her waist. What does Amnemesis mean anyway? >_>

I enjoyed New Mystery. Apparently it messes with the plot a lot by making Kris an extreme Gary Stu to the detriment of Marth's character, but I never played the original (or Shadow Dragon) so I didn't care much.

Fun fact: out of the 583 votes cast in the favorite protagonist poll, Kris got 1 of them.

i also finished off the rest of the session and got another Setsuna from the lone colorless, who was also +spd -res.

...though wait, if Sothe dropped, then that means L'Arachel might drop, too. might actually be able to 5*+10 her some day!

Also got a Nowi to combo break bleh. I guess being able to give away Lightning Breath to someone without spending feathers is cool? Currently 3.5% into this one but out of stamina to farm orbs with so I'll continue tomorrow.

Started around 130. Got larachel early. Bought the starter package a d like the 16 dollar one. Got myrrh.

Should have known all those 3 to 4 red summon session were wrong =(

Might cut my losses waiting for new gym units but Eirika is waifu.......

Overall pleased considering Marisa is still frer stuff

Took almost 200 orbs to get Eirika. +Def -Res. Got pity broken by a -spd Titania. Picked up a 4* Tharja along the way. Not sure if I want to give her to Eirika or feed my +7 Tharja.

I think I will call it quits for now. Was hoping for a second focus unit in that many orbs but at least Eirika is not a crippling nature

i can never seem to summon Tharja. don't have any to sacrifice except the one i already built and one with a better nature that i haven't touched yet. but i've gotten 9 Seliphs, of course.

it's even worse with Athena. not even one yet. the only 4* i've never pulled besides the recently added Soleil and Sothe.

The story is way better in these chapters than it was in book 1. Much better set of villains-- I wouldn't even mind drawing for all 3 of them.

Like I'd argue the plot is on par with an actual Fire Emblem game if it keeps on that level. Granted Fire Emblem games to me are not exactly a high bar for plot and most of the fun I have on the writing end comes from Support Conversations (which this game does not have :( ), so don't take the compliment to mean that much, but compared to book 1 it's much better for sure.

Yeah, Book 2 has a waaay better story than Book 1.

Speaking of story, Genealogy of the Holy War dominated the Story poll. Sort of. It didn't win the overall popularity contest due to a low playrate, but 42% of the people that did play it voted it as Best Story. For comparison, the next-highest was Path of Radiance, where 32% of people who played it voted it for Best Story.

I decided to go back into the banner despite saying I wouldn't. Spent about 50 more orbs and hit a four green summoning session with two Myrrhs. +Def -Res and +Res -Def. Guess I'll keep the first one and try to pull for distant counter one of these days.

Echoes having more players than Fates seems like the sign of a very strange sample, wow. Always sad PoR/RD aren't higher, even in a poll of hardcore players which oversamples their play rate.

Well, keep in mind that not everyone played every game in Fates. I'd be interested to see how many unique players have played at least one Fates games. Bet that would put it at/near the top.

Echoes has a higher playrate among the pre-3DS generation than the Fates games. People who were disappointed with Awakening gave Echoes more of a chance.

And yeah, not everyone played both Conquest and Birthright.

It makes sense, just is really weird to me.

I mostly run in two Fire Emblem circles: casual (many of my IRL friends) who largely ignored Echoes entirely, and hardcore (SF and the like), in which you probably play all the games, but if you play any of them you play Conquest, which gets hype for having the best gameplay either in the recent games or the entire series, depending on who you ask.

It makes sense there's somewhere in the middle that plays Echoes more relatively, but you can understand why I find it strange.

I was not feeling it after getting pity broken by Titania. Overall, it was fine on this banner. Three focus units in 240 or so orbs is perfectly acceptable. I really wanted more Faes and Tharjas along the way, but now I have reposition for everyone.

I didn't ask for age, but I did ask what people's first FE game was. The two biggest ones were Awakening and Blazing Blade (big surprise), with Sacred Stones a distant 3rd that was still way higher than the rest of the pack. People who started with Awakening played more total FE games than I expected. The average number of games played for people who started with Awakening is 7, while the number for Blazing Blade is 8.2 Considering the huge release date difference between the two, that's pretty good! Most of the new fans are exploring the series.

The biggest 'problem' is that the playrates for Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are absolutely abysmal for people who started with Awakening. Nintendo never released them on the VC for some reason.
