They add new ways to get Orbs on a very regular basis. And I don't think there's ever been a point the last few months where there's not either a daily log-in bonus for some or an event going on you can participate in to get some.

But yes, there will be a point where you play for a half hour one day and every Orb opportunity is then exhausted and you have to wait until the next day.

As someone who has spent upwards of $150 on this, don't put money into this game. The ratio of dollar to Orb is horrendous and it's almost never worth it. The only time I will ever spend again is if my 5-star % gets super high and I'm out of time to build up Orbs for another roll.

Merging allows you to increase the stats of a hero. Each merge gives +1 to two stats, you can do this up to +10 which gives a total of +4 to all stats.

You can merge two of the exact same character. You choose one version to keep and one version to get rid of. If the version you get rid of is the same rarity or higher, the unit you keep gets a "+1" level. Each "+1" is worth 2 stat points and you can reach a maximum of "+10". So a 5*+10 unit will have 20 more stat points overall than a 5*+0. The stats are distributed evenly so a +10 unit will have 4 more stat points in each stat. When you merge two characters, the character you keep gains all of the skills of the character you lose. Units with "+1" level are also worth more points in the arena. So a top ranking arena team will be made of 5*+10 units.

By exact same character I mean you can merge two "Lyn: Brave Lady" together but you can't merge "Lyn: Brave Lady" and "Lyn: Lady of the Plains" even though both are Lyn.

When I say "same rarity or higher" I mean you can merge a 5* unit into a 4* unit to get a 4*+1 unit. There are actually some cases where you want to do this but it's rare. You can merge a 4* unit into a 5* unit but you won't get a "+1" level. You only get some SP.

Caeda doesn't have to actually learn the skill, just be capable of learning it(You couldn't as a 3*).

Allies > Advanced Growth > Inherit Skill.

Ok so when I go to merge allies or inherit skills I can't actually select anyone, either for lose or gain. Is there something I should know or am missing? I know that if they are 'd I can't use them, but neither my dupe Sig or Corrin are hearted and I cant merge and I un'd Caeda and I can't use her to inherit skills in to Ninian.

Bride Ninian is the one of the current Bridal Bloom banner. She's a seasonal unit. That means she can not be summoned on most banners. The next time she might show up will be on a Legendary banner (like the Ryoma one right now) in a few months.

It depends on the stat spread. You typically want a -Def or -Res, based on their lower stat, because you wouldn't want them taking on enemies of that variety anyway. For instance, you want -Res on a really good chunk of melee units because you want to keep them away from mages in the first place. Whereas most mages would want -Def because you don't want them taking hits from melee units.

There are other cases where someone has terrible speed, or certain Skills that nullify their bad speed, so you just want it to be worse so a more useful stat isn't worse. When it comes to Dancers, you ideally don't want them engaging anyone at all, so -Atk is acceptable to make sure they survive more hits.

You usually want dancers to be able to troubleshoot at least one enemy type, at worst by sticking Triangle Adept or a jewel weapon on them and letting them check that colour hard. Atk helps them do that, so I wouldn't say -Atk is desirable, though of course the exact stats of your dancer matter less than for other units.

General rule of thumb when all else fails is to ideally tank a unit's lowest stat since you're usually playing a game in a way where it isn't ever relevant anyway. A lot of units have one weak defensive stat so that's the easy one to tank in most cases.

People often don't ever want to have a -Atk unit but there are exceptions to that imo-- in fact I think it's overlooked as a bane on tanky units in general, in addition to the (somewhat) standard use of it on dancers and some healers. But I swear by my -Atk Matthew being practically vital for the build to work as well as it does.

I think a lot of balanced tanks can get good use out of it if you play the unit in the right way-- a lot of them if you compromise one of the two defensive stats it makes them too weak against the unit type you're dropping the lower defensive stat on.

If the speed difference is 5+ the unit with lower speed gets double hit by the one with higher speed. So it's kind of a weird one in that a lot of units are in a really weird spot for it-- like if your speed is 17 base or something at level 40 you're getting doubled by everything no matter what you do so just pick it as your as your -stat and go with it. Alternatively, a lot of units are borderline fast with say like 34 or 35 speed base, and getting -spd on them practically wastes the stat since you're never going to double anything with em.

Speed is the most important stat in the game. While some units don't care for it (mostly armors), the majority of units live and die by speed. It's the best defensive and offensive stat because it both lets you double and prevents you from being doubled.

this is the one circumstance where you want an HP bane - high spd unit that still wants both defenses

I guess that's actually true. Point of an actual tank unit is more to weather multiple attacks rather than being able to survive a burst (provided you aren't literally getting one shot very often), so the relative value of more HP goes down.

So +SPD/-HP is the dream I guess. I'd probably also take +ATK/-HP when I think about it.

But if I don't get any of those and my options are my current +SPD/-ATK vs say +ATK/-DEF or -RES? That would be a thinker.

Still think Matthew is best as I have him though-- he really can't tank magic users remotely passably by compromising defensive stats at all because of his relatively lower base res and it's not like his attack power is any good even if he's +Atk.
