Hello, Metal Sonic Army! This is a reminder that I owe you a match pic in return for your Metal Sonic nom!

This will not be the topic where I actually make the pics, I just wanted to put it in your heads that the time is approaching where Allen will release Round 1 match pic requirements, and I want to get a jump on everything you guys want so you all can submit your pics early.

What kind of pics work well?

Pics that are high-res, clear, consistent lighting, normally-proportioned with no obscured bits of the character. Take this Rikku for example:



That's a perfect pic! I actually used this one and it got accepted (even though it's fan art):



This is a bad pic:



The angle is all weird, if you were to shrink Nightmare down he'd look like a weird, unidentifiable blob!

This one is also weird because of the lighting and angle:



If you're not sure if a pic would work for a match pic or not, post it here! You're not locked into anything at all until you're satisfied with what I've made.

If you want to wait for Round 2, that's fine by me! I'm also willing to do Round 3 pics depending on the format. Again, it's up to you guys. I owe you all big for getting Metal Sonic a 5(!) seed, even if he's getting fed to the Boss. If Round 3 is freeform I probably won't be able to take specific requests, so I advise that you try to redeem your pic by the end of Round 2.

Also, I hate to say this, but I swore and oath, so I am willing to make sabotage pics. Again, YOU will be submitting these pics, not me, and while I am strongly against pic sabotage (despite the rumors), I am bound by my promise to adapt any pic submitted into a match picture. This includes fan art, but keep in mind that unless it's really good Allen will probably see right through it. I will do my best to make any pic requested, but I cannot promise Allen will choose them.

I will roll this topic into the actual Picsmith topic once Allen makes an official announcement.

Do we even know if our services will be required for Round 1? With the character battles, weve been doing all rounds for a while, but who knows if Allen will just rely on the hover over pics this time around?

I don't think he'll rely on hover pics because for some characters he used .png transparent renders and for others he used cropped pictures with backgrounds.

Allen is a lot of things but above all he is consistent. He would never use the hover thumbnails unless they were all transparent or all cropped.

That's what I'm telling myself at least.

ps Allen is NOT consistent when it comes to Geralt and Spider-Man

The best resource for official pics in high quality are fan wikias. For example:

Look at all this official art of Jill! What a selection!

You can also go digging on Tumblr, a lot of big fandoms have tumblrs devoted to archiving high-res official art, like Supper Mario Broth. However, you may just find porn. Do what you have to do.

Allen is really uninteresting

the best thing to do is to find a pic nobody has ever used before that represents default Sora. It sounds kind of hard but there's stuff out there. Like I had to REALLY look to find a new pic of Frank West in 2013, but I found one and because it was new and unique and represented a neutral Frank West it was chosen.

If you want just post a ton of Sora pics in here and I'll tell you what has a good shot

it's not the most unique picture but if you're the first to submit it then it's like 95% likely allen will just use it. he is a HUGE sucker for smash renders, for a while Mario's Melee and Brawl renders were all he used

Smash render is kinda unfortunate for Richter because he's up against another Smash favored character, but it'll help Simon at least.

Now, I don't think that's ever been used, but it would look like absolute garbage if it ever was. Way too busy of an image, and you would have to remove the sword so it would fit in any decent dimensions, plus I don't think a version of the image exists without the logo over it.
