If DDLC fans come into the contest and vote really memey like you expect, it could be pretty huge for Knuckles, as there have some prominent memes, some not in the best taste, involving him in particular in the past few years.

I'm thinking of things like Ugandan Knuckles or the glitch in that awful Sonic Boom game that allowed him to fly into the air indefinitely and skip half the game.

Man, I feel like you guys are way overselling Geralt's natural strength on this site given how little this place cares for modern games. I think this is the best chance for 16 > 1 upset since Halo vs. Starcraft, becuase Rosalina is all over the place in Mario/Smash games, which are among the few games released this decade this site plays in abundance.

I have zero confidence in Rosalina's strength. She might be all over the place in those games, but it doesn't mean she's well liked. She's not in the most popular Mario or Smash games.

I'm skeptical of Geralt's strength, too (I've got Hayabusa beating him, after all), but his ceiling is higher than Rosalina's.

A couple of notes on Kazama Kiryu:

Firstly, "Kiryu" is the character's name. "Kazama" is his family name. Japanese names are backwards compared to western names.

The Yakuza series has been around for a while, but Yakuza 0 was released in 2017, and was the first game to gain any real traction. Since then, Sega has released Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the first game, Yakuza 6, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 (a remake of the second game).

In fact, there is a second Yakuza character in the contest: Goro Majima. However, I doubt Majima will beat Master Chief. At best, he'll pull a Felix and embarrass him.

ALSO, it has been leaked that Yakuza Kiwami will be one of the free PS+ games for November. However, as I write this, I realize that the Kiryu/Bomberman match will take place in October, so you can actually discount this point entirely. I imagine that discussions around this match will be a lot different if the contest were delayed for two weeks.

In any case, Bomberman lost to Phoenix Wright before Wright was in Marvel vs. Capcom, and he hasn't exactly done much to gain relevance since then compared to the rising popularity of Yakuza, so I'm going Kiryu.

Phoenix is stronger now than he was back then, but he was never super fodder and Bomberman never has been either. He doesn't really need to "gain" relevance. Most people know who he is.

I wouldn't trust anything from Sega other than Sonic, and I barely trust Sonic anymore.

Is it? I'm looking it up now, and all I can find is that his foster father was Shintaro Kazuma, which would indicate that Kazuma is his family name.

In any case, "Kiryu" is what the characters in the game refer to him as.

Well, I am going on the Kefka > Sora train, so I will be ensuring Kefka gets some good pictures alongside the sabotage attemps.

Though, I would give a hearty Kefka laugh if the Dissidia version of Lettuce Kefka shows up.
