People have been searching for this holy grail of Samuel being stronger than Mario seemingly for over a decade now, but has anything substantial and concrete ever shown that to be true? The last couple of contests got real weird, so that whole Vivi thing is obviously off!

Also, the thing is that you have to predict everything beforehand, so the script for the bracket would be weird because some people would have Link just winning in the finals and ending it there and some people would have Link losing once and forcing a rematch, which would result in more possible points and some people would potentially have no pick to make.

Just make the championship match selection choices
1-0 (Winner wins the final)
1-1 (Winner wins in the reset)
0-2 (Losers champ wins title)

Everyone loves Samuel Snake.

The tricky thing about saying he's been stronger than Mario is that Mario's real strength always gets obscured by SFF or LFF, but I don't think he's really looked that good in a while. This is the year for him to regain that 2005 strength though.

Sorry, I missed it. Actually, the one I traditionally pay full attention to is KP's before making my bracket. I only see charmander's for fun or reference (since they're right here in the Stats topics), but I don't follow the Crew or the BOP.

So can someone tell me to end this thing what is the 2nd chance bracket? I fill it. And then what? It runs parallel with the normal bracket? Or at the end of it? Don't get it. Should I fill it? Thanks.

It's hardly going to end things when there are still 30 more posts.

It is a second contest, using the same Legends Bracket that the first contest is, but it fills in the Legends participants for you. Each contest has a winner who will get prize money.

If you want to win prize money, you should fill it out.

Everything since 2007 has been obscured by SFF/LFF, so there isn't much evidence of anything. What evidence has there ever been of Mario > Samus indirectly, other than the direct match?

Mario has had three losses, ever, not involving SFF. Two were against Seph in 2003-05 and the other was against Crono in 2004. In every other contest he has jobbed to Link.

Likewise, Samus has only ever lost to Cloud and Sephiroth in non-SFF matches. Crono probably beats them now but was way weaker back when Mario/Samus recorded these losses, so that's a point in favor of Samus.

Crono the character has had one decent contest since '05 and it's clearly LFF-assisted, but because his game looked stronger in 2015 than it did in 2009, everyone's convinced he's strong again. Even though we have no shortage of characters that are insanely stronger or weaker than their games.

For example, as much as we laugh at Master Chief, and as much as we remember Halo losing in Round 1 as a 1-seed in 2004, Halo hasn't done that poorly in games contests and besides Starcraft was wildly underseeded in '04. On the other hand, Kirby has only even gotten one game into a games contest, and that game only once (where it got SFF-hammered by Super Mario 64), even though he's easily a top-20 character, maybe top-15.

It's possible a lesser entry like Bowser or Luigi could HIERARCHY Samus a bit. We haven't really seen her tested by direct Nintendo very often. She's fought your off brander that have shown some signs of overlap like Mega Man and Sonic, and she's fought your mooches like Ganondorf and Zelda, but I feel like Mario and Link being the only Nintendo that SFFs her isn't a total given, we just haven't seen her tested much vs Nintendo yet.

The difference is that, due to his status as a silent protagonist inexorably tied to his game, and CT's 2009 results being about on par with Crono's strength back then, there is actually reason to believe that Crono could be as strong (or almost at least) as his game.

Crono was a top 5-6 character back when CT was a top 3-4 game. Now CT is a top 1-2 game and Crono should be one revolt against the LAW away from beating Link. Of course, Link hasn't won anything in years due to all the rallies, but that's why we need to have him win round 1!

Cloud will always be a champion. And that's something that Mario and Samus and the rest of these Nintendo characters will in all likelihood never ever taste. Because always, Link will be better. Though they fight 100 times Link will win, again and again and again. Because he is a better character.

These days? Not sure. Nintendo would get slammed for catering to SJWs even if nothing about the game looks "SJW" besides Zelda being the lead. And then there'd be SJWs saying Zelda isn't represented properly or has flaws (the horror! she has flaws!) so then they would be railing against it, too.

you know by people thinking Crono got stronger he actually did. he will get a larger % of the bracket votes since more people think he will win. and in the past that might have been more or less irrelevant with the current vote totals and the second chance bracket we could be talking 50-100 more bracket votes, for up to 200 on the count, which has swung matches already.

I am personally in favour of the "let the player choose whether Link is male or female" option. Link was always meant to be an avatar for the player, after all.

Too big of a risk, and not really worth it in the long run.

They'd get a ton of anti-SJW backlash, risk pissing off the SJWs who were supposed to be happy by not doing it right.
