Viewing consists of: Space Battleship Yamato Dirty Pair Shiki Betterman Full Metal Panic SRW Inspector Episode One reviews: Yamato - really great, seems dissimilar to other Leiji's I've seen but artstyle and setting are still distinctly his. No issues of which to speak. Dirty Pair - also great, kind of goofy too. First impression was biased toward Kei but Yuri won EP1. Since this was a plot element I'll continue to rate 'em as such. K0/Y1 Shiki - very good. The horror and pastoral scenery are a neat mix. Characters seem strong in design and personality. Also dat OP, 10/10. ~~Megumi~~ Betterman - second unsettling series but this one was more cool than creepy. Mecha design is top tier, setting's pitch dark, characters are likeable and Koyasu (my favorite VA from various robot shows, who you all may be familiar with as DIO) voices the title character. Only negatives are OP/ED aren't my speed. Full Metal Panic! - Comfortable viewing. Arm Slaves are excellent mecha design, Sousuke Sagara is Chirico, music is familiar from all the times I've heard it in SRW. SRW Inspector - I could write a whole post about this one. I'll settle to say three things: 1. They actually showed off Beowulf, which in my experience with the games, has been more of a heard but not seen kind of thing. 2. Axel Almer is voiced by Nobutoshi Canna and the opening is performed by Jam Project, featuring Yoshiki Fukuyama. They were the two voices of Basara from Macross 7, speaking and singing, so this was a neat circumstance for me. 3. Obari direction (and the character designs sure look familiar to his, too). So all in all, schedule was a success. I liked the idea from the anime, mostly cuz Strike Ninja is my favorite card; conceptually the game isn't bad but visually its terrible. The sprite designers didn't know what they were doing so literally every monster looks hideous. Ok to try out but best taken in small doses. Next, Eternal Duelist Soul. You're offered one of three decks at start, cool...but you can't see what they are until after you pick one so what's the point? Looking at the deck, it's about 3/4s Normal Monsters, 1/8 Spell, 1/8 Trap. The rules must have been loose because first turn draw is a thing. Skipping this one because it seems like poor card pool, menu based gameplay and also the field is hell to behold. Next is Sacred Cards.
