I haven't worried about gaining poetics in a very long time! The game throws them at you for basically anything

also no joke, one of the best ways to get poetics is probably eureka. the NMs now give between like 50-100 poetics each, and you can do like 15-20 in a two hour period if you get a good instance.

Do you need poetics at 80? Because I just used them to equip my four jobs at 50 and now at 60. Is there another use? And still have about 1500 sitting around.

At 80, there will be two types of new tomestone for you to collect and gear with. One capped weekly, and one that isn't that has weaker gear.

You'll use poetics to gear again at 70 and then if you ever want to do the old content relics (shiny glowy unique weapons locked behind a big grind) you will need piles of them.

You will get TONS going through old content as a new player though. If you have extras you can buy the cosmetic items or materia.

Ive now gotten 120 gear for everything besides accessories

I guess I can only buy one ring unless I also wanna use the healer one? (Which is still better than the garbage caster ring I have I guess)

You can buy one ring, augment it to 130, then buy another 120 ring.

I can't remember offhand what item is needed to augment, I think gobcoat? You augment it at Drake in North shroud (northeast of fallgourd float, where you see little houses on the map)

I'm starting to enjoy the linking quest line from ARR to Heavensward a little more now.

The counsel or whatever just met to discuss Garlemald having a new Emperor, Varis. He looks very not nice and not like a good guy. Also we are now off to pursue the Flames woman who we think is The Ivy. I enjoy the intrigue that comes from the Ivy thread, but I'm worried it might end here soon since we've brought it to the literal second-in-command. Ah well.

I have to imagine I'm getting close to the end here.

So uh, protip - don't try to queue for Extreme-level trials normally, the queue will take ages to pop and you'll be thrown in with 7 angry mentors who probably don't remember how to do the fight. If you really want to do it put up a Party Finder group and do it unsynced, or just wait until you're level 70 or so and solo it.

Garuda extreme wasn't too bad with duty finder (just wiped a few times), but I guess I'll keep that in mind

To add to this - you can make party finders to do the fights synced so level 80s don't just blow through the fight in one second too, just be clear in the description that you are doing it synced. It will probably take some time to fill, but at least you won't spend 2 hours waiting to get in just to have people immediately quit the duty

Imhho it's not even worth doing these unsynced unless you specifically want rewards since you see exactly zero of the duty

Fight is fucking amazing, strongly recommend everyone try it if you can find a team for it. It's super intense and soooo satisfying. Probably the second best boss after ShB's final boss.

I literally didn't know this is a possible thing until I saw someone do it on a stream. This would make the Turn 5 clear trophy easier to get for some people.

Sounds about right. Its unfortunate that some of this filler becomes super relevant later while other parts are just, well, filler.

Finished the World of Darkness

Cloud of Darkness was obvious, but I didn't realize that Unei, Doga, Xande, and NOAH were all FF3 references. I can't remember that game at all besides the fact that there are like no save points in the final dungeon and random enemy dragons with iirc instant death attacks, which cause me to ragequit the game after losing an hour of progress

I finally completed the Shadowbringers 5.0 MSQ.

All I can say is, That was a goddamn masterpiece. Im comfortable putting it with the best not just Final Fantasy, but the RPG genre has to offer.

I have waited for a worthy Final Fantasy game for so long. Since X. Since I was in elementary school. And when I played Heavensward, I thought, Yeah, this might hold a candle. But last night... I felt the magic again.

Legit, Shadowbringers is so strong I feel Squeenix will someday rerelease it as a standalone. It's that solid.

I have fond memories of GW2 during Heart of Thorns, but I've heard it's dying now. Damn shame. Best world content in the entire industry.

Loving the world exploration so far, I have a feeling once I finish that up or it gets stale I'll be in the mood for a more story-based MMO.

Last night I hit a red MSQ in the filter between ARR and Heavensward because I haven't done se of the hard versions of primal battles. That makes mainlining my way through this stuff hard. How much of the "plus" quests are just dungeons and how much of them are actual other threads of story? I've done a bit of the aethersand stuff, but not much else because I figured it was just all optional dungeons of which I've done barely any during my time with the game. Am I missing out on a lot?

You are indeed missing out on quite a bit. I do wish it were more clear, but I dont know how to guide you well there.

Well all the stuff between ARR and Heavensward should only require you to be level 50 because that was the level cap back then.

You shouldn't have to do any of the hard primal fights except for the ones that are part of the story, which they say "Hard" but they're really just normal fights.

You are actually required to do Ifrit Hard, Garuda Hard, and Titan Hard to progress to Heavensward. If all you want to do is go straight to Heavensward, don't bother with any of the other blue quests. There are a couple of fun ones you'll be missing, though (Tam-Tara Hard is one of the best dungeon storylines in the game) and it's very strongly recommended you do the Crystal Tower raid series before getting to Shadowbringers. Everything else you can safely skip.
