February 18, and probably any mounts you don't already have. I certainly wouldn't want to grind ARR beast tribes to get one of their mounts, for instance.

Just got the complete version (ARR and all 3 expansions) on PS4 (had trade in credits burning a whole in my pocket), so will get more into this somewhat shortly. Finishing the remastered FFX, then will get rolling on this!

Just finished normal mode of the Stormblood (Omega) raids. The second-to-last fight is fantastic.

Amazing how people can't infer that "Larboard" is the opposite of "Starboard."

I went from a pretty good BLM in 3.x to not playing much all in 4.x and just hit 80 this week and it's some galaxy brain shit

I reached Heavensward and decided to play dragoon instead of machinist, so playing all that time as monk was a waste. About three levels from 50 on the dragoon. Also decided to round out some crafting levels so that held up progress. Excited to finally jump in either tonight or tomorrow.

Speaking of Dragoon as it relates to story does Estenien acknowledge you when you first meet him with Aymeric towards the end of the ARR patch quests? No spoilers beyond that point if he becomes a major character, please. Based on the Dragoon stuff, it seems like he would see you as a big deal and address it so.

If you want to continue WoL cosplaying in Stormblood, Monk is the 'canon' job of that expansion, as Dragoon is for Heavensward and Dark Knight is for Shadowbringers.

What is the name song that plays during the last fight with Diabolos in Dun Scaith, while you're burning the Lifegate? I finally did it as DPS and got pretty hyped there.

I don't think so but I'm not certain. To be honest, a lot of older job quests tend to not make sense after certain expansion events, and they didn't usually smooth them over with dialogue edits. I have the headcanon that they canonically happen before and are echo flashbacks or something.

I believe the canon explanation is that the WoL does all the job and class quests before the storyline of that expansion ends, and if the player happens to do them later it's just all happening in a time bubble. This is especially obvious in things like doing the ARR DRG quests after you've already gone through Heavensward, or doing the 1-50 Culinarian questline anytime after 2.55.

Speaking about missing certain scenes, I cleared the 3.4 dungeon and after that, I just reunited with Alisae in Ishgard and she was like "hey thanks for helping me with the expeditions though we left that unfinished". So is this also something that changes if you beat all the Coils first?

Never been able to enjoy casters in MMOs. Though with FF14 having lots of ogcds, the cast times might be more bearable.

I think that one's fine compared to the Heavensward and Stormblood ones but the normal battle themes are some of the rare bad tracks in the OST.

You can actually turn it off somewhere in the menus and just listen to the generally great zone music!

I got BLM to 80 solely for the Amaro. I've deleted the set and desynthed it's gear. Playing on a controller, I found it hard to find fluidity in the rotation. I also hated the lack of mobility and long cast times. Nothing was more frustrating being 1.5s into a cast and then having to move, or the target died. I was also not a fan of having to maintain 15 second buffs, which is also the reason I'm not a MNK fan.

I much prefer casters to melee, though Im not sure why. Being ranged does allow you to move less overall (even though its more punishing when you do have to move).

More than any other job, BLM rewards encounter knowledge and punishes ignorance. It's incredibly powerful in the right hands and feels amazing when you know what's coming and can pre-position to keep casting the entire time, but it's also very frustrating to play when you're new to a fight. I personally really enjoy it, but I can see why other people wouldn't.

Oh man. Post Heavensward spoilers. Funny how rejoining with Yshtola, Thancred and even meeting Minfilia are these huge cutscenes and a big deal. But with Yda and Papalymo is like "oh you're here. That's cool." No effort was made to find them

It's garage rock, and it has a very clear thematic purpose. It's actually probably on the upper half of ShB tracks for me I think (and the upper half is at minimum very good and at high end godly).

Maybe a hot take but they should stagger all the savage releases a week or two from normal mode like they do at expansion launch!

I think ultimates are on different schedules than normal raid series but I can't say as I've never done them.

The first savage tier of an expansion drops 4 weeks after expac release. The next two are day one of the X.2 and X.4 patches. Ultimates thus far have been released 2 weeks after X.1 and X.3 patches, iirc.

Because they are crafted, and the materials aren't cheap. But once you get more play time in, throwing 100k+ away on an item you want becomes easier to say yes to.

I don't go out of my way to earn gil, and I still easily make over 500k a week. I even spent millions on a medium personal home, Leve items, and glamours, and gave 3 million gil to a friend.

-Maps for initial capital (also hunts, the trick is to trade goetias for fat stax of multifaceted resin).
-Max out your weekly scrip count for ishgard restoration for a quick 1.65m bux by reselling crafter materia (Gatherer Guiles are usually the priciest).
-Play the marketboard for essential markets (materia food etc), ideally as a crafter
-Run a lot of Dun Scaith to buy and resell popular mogtome orchestrions. Answers and Twilight over Thanalan almost always go for 200 to 300k.
-At the high end, try to corner the market for fashion items that are hot. Nothing makes as much dolla as Fashion Fantasy 14.

It's not that hard, it just requires a bit of initial capital to work with.
