Tbh I'm moving away from Ash a bit. She feels really mid against a lot of the meta right now. Like hitting Branded Fusion is always good but if I'm going second I'd rather draw into something that's gonna let me get through their end board rather than hope I slow down their hyper consistent combos enough to play through it without board breakers. >_>

After ignoring the normal ranked ladder during the event, I finally bothered to get my main account to Gold 1 in the normal ladder (my side account had better luck earlier in the month and was already there) and the last push to get there were pretty wild.

My 2nd-to-last duel was against a Blue-Eyes deck that summoned Chaos Max immediately. Its protecting from being targeted or destroyed by card effects counters almost my whole deck, and I couldn't climb to Accesscode to beat over it because the only monsters I could steal from my opponent's GY with Shark Cannon or Charmers were Impcantation monsters... which don't let you do extra deck summons while they're on the field. It took a couple of draws from a Maxx C, 3 Upstart Goblins, 4 uses of Sky Striker Mobilize Engage, and a Pot Of Avarice (which let me recycle Kagari to get that 4th use of Engage) to finally draw Forbidden Droplet and let me out the Chaos Max, all while using my Veilers, Imperms, and Widow Anchors to negate the Impcantation monsters my opponent was summoning to prevent a second Chaos Max ritual from happening. It was probably the craziest duel I've ever had against a Blue-Eyes deck, but I got the win. Ridiculous shit like this is why I stay in Gold.

And then, after that insane duel, my rank-up duel to Gold 1 was... a free win due to a Nurse Burn FTK deck failing to draw either Nurse Reficule or Bad Reaction and immediately surrendering. How anticlimactic.

Got OTK'd by a Salamangreat putting Bagooska turn 1 and cleaning my board with Update Jammer'd Accesscode later.

The next duel had a Dark World Danger! player solitaire'ing their cards for four Dangers which I had a bad feeling would turn into Underworld Momma.

It did, and I lost my Savage Dragon. In response, I chained Hieratic Seal to it...
...only for the Momma to be unaffected because Seal does not target.

Got Arc Rebellion on the next 10 pull after debating to myself.
Woo only 3k gems spent, but sadly no Break Sword or the PK RUM Force (the one you use to rank up Dark Rebellion into Dark Requiem) so unfortunately no PK deck (and you need Burning Abyss stuff too).

Now...what, lol.

Maybe Raidraptors? RR monsters are cool looking bunch.
Or maybe Odd-Eyes because I did bought 3 Pend Mage structure and it has bunch of cards you can find in Odd-Eyes pack, allowing me to get more CP.
Or maybe Utopia for a chance in F0 and UDF? Though there is also an argument of buying 3 structure for more CP possibility when I do pull the secret pack.

edit: RR needs cards from other pack so no, I guess. .___.

Finally hit Plat 5 and got the sleeves.

Altergeist Hexstia and her lack of once per turn on S/T negate sealed the last duel. Shout out to Lose 1 Turn for putting in work this event too, even though I didn't see it today.

Also lost to a Vampire deck somewhere along the way, they got out Vampire Voivode, which effectively acted as Necrovalley for my monsters' GY effects, which stopped my recovery. It's not even OPT.

The thing with Toons though is that their gimmick isn't bad. Untargetable, indestructible monsters that can ignore your board and just attack directly is a legitimately strong mechanic, so I'm not surprised when they can cheese wins (especially in sealed lmao). The problem with Toons is that they're "balanced" in that old cheesy game design trope of having one really broken niche held back by everything else being absolutely shit. It's like the Regigigas of card games. <_<

Getting flashbacks to the "street duel" rules from the old Digimon tcg lol.

Would definitely lead to some interesting interactions, but I feel like this would need to be a side-deck card so you don't accidentally end up helping your opponent. >_>

There would be so many potentially fucked up interactions with this card that there's no way it would be in the meta. I feel like it would either be seen as too risky/gimmicky to use that barely anyone would use it or so used and abused that it would eventually get banned, with no in-between.

People purposely aiming low to Foolish Burial monsters for free, people banking on the opponent aiming low so they can freely add a Maxx C or an OTK combo piece like Nurse Reficule to their hand, the chance that your opponent plays Nibiru (who has a chonky 3000 ATK) and you screw yourself over by letting them add it to their hand for free, certain Exodia FTK decks that can recover Exodia pieces from the grave and would benefit no matter which option happens... and that's even before we open the can of worms of what happens if you use that card on a deck that's so Spell/Trap heavy that it doesn't even run 3 monster cards. It's a creative idea for sure, but in execution, this card would be a mess.

It is a bit hilarious to see people struggle against Toons. I have a Toon deck that has gotten quite a few wins and people Scooping because they can't get rid of it.

It's not my big meta deck but I always wanted to make a Toon deck and MD made me realize it. Part of me feels like either people underestimate a Toon deck when it gets rolling due to them being low tier or Toons rarely pop up so it catches them off guard.

Double into #39 into something else (Prime) then use RUM into 4-mat Dragonar which then can SS Ultimate Leo + #38 on opponent turn.

I saw YT comments said something like Double into Beyond or Ray Victory, as well, for a more heavier, raw beatstick.

I'm not sure myself, it's just based on what I see off YT vids since I'm still trying to build the deck (seemingly not consistent if you don't use the Onomat URs and SRs).

Managed to beat a SwordSoul deck using some silly Shiranui/Zombie World deck I threw together, so that felt cool.

The thing that ultimately killed them was greed, though. They wasted a Called on Shiranui Squire that I was trying to grab out of the graveyard. Don't know why they were so threatened by her of all cards, but because they were, I was able to safely setup Banshee and DoomKing lmao

Oh, and this was after they Maxx C'd me and drew two for their first turn. I defeated the Roach!

My Borrelend kept being Droplet'd, and each time I had to bring it back by using Recharger effect.
So much for a boss monster.

In the end my end board is just the same as before, only Hieratic Seal changed into Borrelend that is actually worse at defending.

Also TIL that pumpkin mate is limited time offering.

As much as I'd love that, I feel like Kagari at 2 and Engage at 2 would be the most "balanced" way to buff Sky Strikers without making them too powerful, especially with Linkage and H.A.M.P. probably coming in the not too distant future. Plus, if they put Kagari to 3, I'm afraid they might drop Engage to 1 (like how the TCG has them) to compensate, which would IMO be even worse than what we have now.

But not having to worry about it actually simplifies things; I only need to make sure I don't do Rokket Tracer or Synchron effect before Romulus.

Like when playing Anaconda instead of Seal with Red-Eyes.

Tempted to try for a second copy of Celestial Magician. Player blew up my Baronne and I was able to just instantly revive it while also proccing the pendulumgraph search. That effect is good...but doesn't come up as often because I usually go for its search effect when summoned. <_<

That trap card is unholy, the Jellyfish isn't even restricted, and it can cheat high level beaters from hand like nothing.

It's very intellectual. What other deck can lock down a board with a meager 3-card combo? >____>

Also does anything meta-relevant die to kaijus these days? Despia doesn't care at all and Swordsoul barely notices. All the other tiered decks on MDM take a hit but can still bounce back really easily. Lava Golem would probably be more help but you can't summon it against Floow. I feel like if you want to do board breakers, you're better off going for stuff like Droplets, Dark Ruler, or Imperm. (Also, Jellyfish can't negate traps, fun times. >_>)
